-Third Person POV-

(This is different, huh?)

"Aiden!" She screamed his name at the top of her lungs, screamed it so loud that his name cracked off of her tongue. Her throat starts to contract with unshed tears, her vision was blurring and she had to clamp her lips together to stop a cry of pain from leaving her throat. She didn't want to believe it, didn't want to believe that the happy go lucky Aiden was laying amongst rubble; broken and shattered beyond repair. The image just didn't form in her mind, or maybe her mind was too numb with disbelief to form such an image.

Her body twisted and turned as she rushed at blinding speeds toward the broken building. With each pull of the maneuvering gear triggers that brought her closer to the building her heart sped into a uncontrollable gallop. There was no way he was in there, he couldn't be, it was just unfathomable to think such a thing. But when her feet touched the cobblestone street she could see him; her heart shattered into a million tiny pieces, she couldn't step closer to him, she just stood there and stared at his bloodied face. Stones were covering the lower half of his body and a plank has stabbed him straight through the arm, his eyes were closed and head tilted back toward the sunlight.

"Aiden..." She whispered, she didn't trust her voice enough to continue the thought. And she was right, for as soon as she uttered his name a sob broke through her barriers and hot tears started to stream down her face. Her knees gave out and she collapsed onto the street and buried her face in her hands, she sobbed recklessly each one coming out stronger than the last. The tears overflowed in her shivering hands and pooled at the curve of her cupped palms, the salty water flecked her quivering lips and clung to her dark eyelashes.

"Sa-Sakura." His voice broke through her despair and her head snapped up. He was laying there, his gold eyes dark with agony and they trailed on a white butterfly that slowly drifted between them. His eyes carefully moves back to her's and neither looked away, both bound in the single moment, they were scared, really, that if one looked away the other would possibly give in to their own despair.

"Aiden!" She squealed and moved to crawl toward him, but he shook his head, weakly.

"I-I'm not go-going to last mu-much longer." His voice shook and tears started to drop from his eyes.

"Don't you dare say that!" She cried and crawled around a column,"I-I can get you out an-and you'll be fine!" She was just a couple feet away now, just a couple more feet and she could at least hold him in his last moments.

He smiled, it was weak and zapped up the last of his strength,"I'm... I'm sorry."

"What for?" She could barely croak the words out as a lump formed in her throat. She was there now, her fingers gingerly running through his matted hair.

"I-I was being stupid and tr-tried to save you." He tried to laugh, but it broke and changed into a coughing fit,"B-But at least I-I got to wear the Wings of Fr-Freedom for a little bit, right?" He was right, he no longer wore a jacket that bore the Unicorn instead the Wings of Freedom stood out on his chest.

"I'm sorry Aiden." She choked on the words,"If only I was a better Squad Leader..." She couldn't talk anymore, her voice shattered and her tears started to drip off of her face and drop onto his face.

"You we-were the best Squad Leader I-I ever had." His voice was so quiet she could barely hear his words, but her ears picked up on the sentence and what little bit of her heart remained shattered.

His eyelids began to flutter, his breathing was starting to slow and she was watching the life fade from his golden eyes,"Aiden! Please please don't go!" But he couldn't hear her anymore, his chest was still and his lids shut over eyes that will no longer glitter with amusement.
