"Hello sweetheart!" He sneaked his arms around her waist and placed a kiss on her neck.

"Good morning." She tilted her head back to give him a proper kiss.

"Good morning... So what are you preparing?"

"Pasta with shrimp." She said stirring the ladle in the pan.

"Mmmm... Smells delicious darling."

"Thank you... Will you make some coffee for us both? I'll make the eggs... for our breakfast."

"Sure darling." He kissed her cheek. He then took out their mugs from the overhead cabinet and walked to the coffee maker. "Naren and Shruti are coming here for brunch right?"

"Yes. Shruti had called me half an hour back. They will reach by 11."

"Good."

"She's bringing biryani... By the way, when are those cupcakes arriving?"

"Which cupcakes?" He asked as he poured coffee into their mugs.

"Red velvet ones. You ordered them..." She turned to face him. "Didn't you?"

"But you said you will place the order."

"No." Her voice stern. "You were supposed to place the order. We discussed it just two days back... Oh my god! ... You didn't order..."

"Relax..."

"How can I relax? I asked you to do one thing. And you... You know how much she loves those cupcakes from Christopher's. And Christopher's bakes only for orders." She rubbed her temple. "Now what do we do?"

"Sweetie..." He walked to her and held her shoulders. He turned her to face him. "I have already ordered the cupcakes. They should be already on their way right now. So stop panicking."

"What? ... Really?"

He nodded.

"Then why did you..."

"I was just kidding."

She smacked his arms away and put her hands on her waist. "This is not the time to joke."

"I just wanted to lighten up the mood."

He took out a pan and placed it on the burner turning the heat up. Then he reached for the eggs, cracked them in a bowl and whisked them. She got back to preparing the sauce for the pasta.

"I just can't wait to see her." He glanced at Nisha with a smile.

"Me too!" Nisha exclaimed reaching across him for the salt jar. "It's been almost two months. The last time she was supposed to come she made the excuse of studying for her exams..." She looked at him. "Don't you think she is working too hard?"

"Isn't that what we did too?" He said as he flipped the egg on the pan.

"Yes. And I am proud of her." Nisha's hand stopped stirring. She looked at him as she continued. "It's just that... that I..."

"You want her to stay with us."

"Yes!"

"And I want that too. Do you think I am happy with this arrangement of seeing my daughter almost once in a month?... But she chose this and we should respect her choice."

"I do appreciate her idea of learning to live independently. But can we just talk to her about it?... Try to convince her."

"That we can do." He held a plate with an omelette and two toasts in front of her. "Breakfast is served madam."
