Ring... Ring! Ring... Ring!
Diya tried his number once again. But just like the previous times the number just kept ringing. Diya needed to speak to Rohit in private but since the past few days they had been quite busy with academics and projects that they hardly got any free time. Also the free time they received in canteens during meals they were joined with by their friends.
Diya was about to dial his number once again when Khushi nudged her shoulder from beside.
"Hey... Keep your mobile aside. It's a girls trip... These boys can wait to speak to us till we return."
I hope that it is not too late by then.
Diya smiled at Khushi and nodded.
Diya shut her eyes as she felt the pleasant breeze on her face. The breeze that blew through her hair and made her feel calm and composed. She felt relaxed for those few minutes. At the moment they were seated at Marine Lines, enjoying the beautiful scenery and sea breeze before them. It was a lovely Saturday evening. Diya, Khushi and Aayushi we're to leave back for their campus the next morning.
Diya was back in Mumbai for four days. But this time not at her parents house but at her friend Aayushi's house.
Diya and Khushi were staying at Aayushi's house for the weekend. They were welcomed at Aayushi's house on Friday afternoon.
Aayushi's mother had prepared special Bengali delicacies for her daughter and her friends arrival. They gorged on the yummy feast.
Aayushi's sister Ipshita, who was in the second year of Junior College also joined the three friends in their weekend fun. They had laughed to death at a stand up comedy show, danced to amazing tunes at a pub, drank mouthwatering Frappuccino at Starbucks and even ate a delicious brunch at a bistro. They clicked many snaps for their remembrance.
It was going to be their last month at college. After returning they were going to get busy with their books. Last minute project report submissions, visiting the library for notes and preparing for the final exam was going to take up all of their time.

While every student was in a jovial mood, Diya was feeling dreadful. They had finished with their final exams just a day ago. It was the last night on the campus and thus was the day of of their farewell party. It had been almost a fortnight since Diya had spoken to or even seen Rohit. He had just disappeared. Without informing anyone Rohit had left the campus. Neither Diya not his friends Omkar and Abhi knew about his whereabouts. It was only during the days of the exam that he returned. Inspite of multiple calls when he was away and multiple requests from his friends when he was in campus, he refused the speak about the reason of his changed behavior and sudden disappearance.
He just requested all of his friends to be present at the farewell party especially insisting on Diya's presence. He requested Omkar to pass on the message to Diya. Further he provided Omkar with the reason that he wanted to give Diya a surprise.
Omkar and Abhi just glanced at each other with a frown but agreed to their friends request.
For the past week he had avoided every call and message of Diya. Even when Omkar insisted to respond back to her, Rohit flatly refused.
It was around half past eight. Diya was seated at a table toying around with an empty glass of cold drink. Her friends were all at the dance floor. They tried to drag her with them as well, but she refused. She was in no mood to dance. She had a glum look on since the past week. They understood that the reason was absence of Rohit.
