48 - "What justification?"

The video was actually a recording of Amit's cabin. Rohit frowned and looked at Amit, who just nodded in the direction of the screen, asking him to continue watching.

Amit opened the door and held it open for Diya.

"Please have a seat." He gestured to the two chairs at his desk. He himself walked to the other side of the desk and took his seat.

"Thank you." She gave a small smile.

"How are you uncle? How is aunty?"

"I am good. Even Gina is fine. You should come home sometime. Gina would be very pleased to chat with you."

"Sure uncle."

There was a knock at the door. "Come in." Amit called out. Amit's secretary entered with an attendant. The attendant put down the tray he had bought on the desk and placed the two cups of coffee in front of each of them.

"Thank you." Diya smiled at the attendant to which he nodded.

"Anything else sir?" the secretary asked.

"Nothing. Thank you!"

Once the door was shut again, Amit asked, "How are your academics going on?"

"Good. Our semester end exams are scheduled to be held in the following month."

"Ohhh... Okay... Good luck for that."

"Thank you."

Amit picked up the spoon from the saucer and stirred his coffee. "Are you considering any further plans post your graduation?"

"Not yet actually. We have our internships to finish with."

Amit leaned forward, linked his fingers and rested his elbows on the desk. "Speaking of internships, why don't you undertake internship over her, at this company."

Diya replied after a pause. "Ummm... Thank you so much for the offer uncle. But I am sorry, I will have to refuse."

"Why?" Amit frowned. "Is is because you are going to intern at your family business?... In that case I am sure we can make this place as comfortable for you as working with your family would be. Also as an intern your job will be undemanding."

"It is not about comfort uncle." She shook her head sideways.

"Then? I am sure you will not be working somewhere for a stipend."

Diya let out a laugh. "No uncle."

"Then work with us Diya... If you have any any requests, we will fulfill them... Gina and I wish to see you intern here Diya."

"Uncle, may I know why are you so persistent on me working at your company."

"Because I want you to begin understanding this business from now itself. It will be very beneficial for the both of you."

Diya's expression seemed surprised. "Please do not think of me as rude, uncle. But what do you mean?"

"Look Diya, I see you and Rohit as the future of this company. With your academics and credentials, I am sure that you will be a key asset to this business. You are very much capable of being a guide to Rohit in taking this business to knew heights."

"Thank you very much uncle. But I think that Rohit has a more prominent place in this company rather than me... I mean I do respect you, him and this business. But I do not see myself as a core member of this organisation."
