Chapter sixteen - Sirius Black Attacks

Y/n pov

You went back to your room. It was a full moon tonight so you had to be ready. You packed four healing potions in case if your suspicions about Professor Lupin were true, and if that dog was still around maybe you could help it. You waited until dinner to see Fred and George asking if they saw anything odd, or cool. You began walking up the staircase with them as they told you all about their adventures at Zonko's. You were laughing until there was a blocked hallway from the towers entrance.

"What's going on?" You ask.

"No clue." The twins say in unison.

"Uh let me through please! Excuse me I am head boy!" Percy yells pushing through the crowd. You look through and see the fat lady is gone, her painting is empty.

"Get back, all of you, no one is to enter this dormitory until it has been fully searched. Someone get Dumbledore." Percy says. You see Ginny push past you and you see Harry, Ron, Neville, Dean and Hermione behind you, you rush down to them.

"The fat lady's gone." Ginny tells them in a panic.

"That's an understatement, her painting is torn, up." You added behind her.

"Serves her right, she was a terrible singer." Ron mutters.

"It's not funny Ron." Hermione scolds him.

"Quiet, be quiet! The headmaster's here." Percy shouts to all shocked students.

So the headmaster followed by Filch, McGonagall, Snape and Professor Lupin who was looking unwell. Came up the stairs and stared at the picture.

"Mr. Filch, round up the ghosts, to search every painting in the castle to find the fat lady." Dumbledore orders.

"No need for ghosts professor, fat lady's there." Filch says pointing to a painting one flight up. There's a rush of students and they make way for the Professors.

"My dear lady who did this to you?" The headmaster asks.

"Eyes like the devil he's got! It's him headmaster, I'm sure of it. The one they all talk about! He's here, somewhere in the castle! Sirius Black." She yelps his name and you feel your heart miss a beat.

"Why?" The headmaster asks but the fat lady is just crying and shaking in fear.

"He got very angry when she wouldn't let him in you see," Peeves said from behind everyone. "Nasty temper he's got Sirius black." Peeves states.

Harry's Pov

I see Y/n run down the stairs she is practically leaping down them, what's going on with her?

Soon all houses were brought into the great hall, where all tables had been pushed aside and the floor was littered with purple sleeping bags.

Word spread of what happened in Gryffindor tower but soon there was word spreading about what happened in Slytherin dungeons. There were deep scratch marks at the base of the door and leading to the floor like and Animal. I looked around and didn't see Y/n... I hope she was okay.

"Everyone, lights out in ten minutes. No more talking!" Percy warned everyone.

"Do you think black's till in the castle?" Hermione whispered.

"Dumbledore clearly thinks he might be." Ron stated.

"Its lucky he picked tonight. The one night we aren't in the tower." Ron said thankfully.

"I recon he's lost track of time, being in Azkaban." Ron suggested.

"How'd he get in?" Everyone was thinking about that one question.   

"Maybe he knows how to Apparate." Some Ravenclaws said.

Disguised himself probably." Hufflepuff fifth year suggested.

"He could've flown in." Dean said.

"Am I the only one who's read Hogwarts a history?" Hermione asked them.

"Probably why?" Ron snarkily replied.

"The castle is protected by enchantments, no one can Apparate in or out, and it'd be near impossible to make a disguise without help that could get past those dementors, plus the dementors would've seen him fly in, and Filch knows all secret entrances he'd have them covered." Hermione states as if it were as plain as day.

"Lights going out now. No more talking!" Percy called. Soon all the lights slowly go out.

Percy was pestering Dumbledore with questions meanwhile Dumbledore was just doing his best to monitor everything, whilst answering Percy.

"Headmaster." It was the voice of Snape, I kept even more still. "The third floor has been searched. He's not there. And Filch checked the dungeons and nothing there either." Snape reported to Dumbledore. I leaned in a little.

"What about the Astronomy tower? Professor Trelawney's room? The Owlery?" Dumbledore inquired.

"All Searched." Snape reassured him.

"Very well Severus, I didn't expect Black to linger." Dumbledore revealed.

"Have you any theory on how he got in, Professor?" Snape asked.

"Many Severus, each of them as unlikely as the next." The headmaster confirmed.

"You remember our conversation headmaster, just before – ah – the star of the term?" Snape said barley above a whisper.

"I do Severus." There was a warning tone to his voice.

"It seems – almost impossible – that black could have entered the school without any inside help. I did express my concern when you appointed-" Snape was cut off by the headmaster.

"I do not believe a single person inside his castle would've helped Black enter it." Dumbledore said making it known the topic was closed.

"Very well. Then where is L/n? It's less than ideal for her to be out when this happened." Snape said his voice going stone cold.

"I believe she's capable. Yes she is out doing her normal duties at this point." Dumbledore states. Y/n had normal duties at this time of night?

"If Black's not here then where do you think he's run off to?" Snape hissed.

"She'll be safe. Professor Lupin made sure of it." Dumbledore reassured, yet Snape didn't seem to like that answer, or Lupin at all.

"Now I need to go check in with the Dementors." Dumbledore stated. Percy came up to him obviously hearing about the Dementors.

"Didn't they want to help?" Percy asked.

"Oh yes, but I'm afraid not Dementor will cross the threshold of this castle while I'm headmaster." Dumbledore stated strongly.

I couldn't help but wonder what Y/n's task was at this time of night. I hoped she was safe and I'd be able to ask her the next day.
