Chapter thirty eight - The Truth

You see none other than Snape "Expelliarmus!"  he cast making Lupins wand fly from Sirius hand and fall to the ground beside the raven-haired professor. Snape pointed his wand at Sirius which you attempted to rush to his side but Hermione pulled you back.

"Vengeance is sweet, how I hoped I'd be the one to catch you." Snape said relieved to have caught Sirius and Lupin.

"Severus." Lupin attempted to explain but Snape pointing his wand at the professor made him shut up.

"I told Dumbledore you were helping an old friend into the castle and now here's the proof." Snape smiled at lupin making you hate his guts.

"Brilliant Snape, once again you put your keen and penetrating mind to the task and as usual come to the wrong conclusion. Now if you'll excuse us Remus and I have some unfinished business to attend to-" Sirius was cut short by Snape pushing his wand to Sirius's neck. You shook out of Hermione's grip but watched the interaction carefully.

"Give me a reason. I beg you." Snape hissed.

"Severus don't be a fool." Remus said carefully.

"He can't help it, it's habit by now." Sirius said not helping his situation.

"Sirius be quiet!" Remus warned.

"Quiet yourself Remus!" Sirius growled. Under normal circumstances you may have laughed at the friends but they were in danger right now.

"Oh, listen to you two, quarrelling like an old married couple."  Snape commented.

"Why don't you run along and play with your chemistry set." Sirius said making Snape dig his wand into his neck more.

"I could do it you know, but why deny the dementors they're so longing to see you." You saw Sirius's face lose any colour it had and your heart stopped dementors.

"Do I detect a flicker of fear? The dementors kiss one can only image what's that's like to endure. It's said to be unbearable to witness but I'll do my best... I'll drag the werewolf maybe they'll give him a kiss too." Snape said making you have to step in.

"No!" You shout stepping forward Remus and Sirius direct you to stop but you ignore that.

"You bring him out there the dementors will know me too, kill him and you'll kill me." You said knowing your professor had a certain soft spot for you.

"You can stay here." He hissed.

"Like I'll listen to you now? I'll be thrown back in my old cell for protecting him. But I'll be damned if I let him die. If I let either of them die." You said looking back at Lupin.

"You'll do as I say." Snape snapped.

"Afraid not professor." You said grabbing your wand.

"Expelliarmus!" Your voice rung out but you looked back after noticing you weren't the only one. Harry too cast against Snape.

Snape hit the wall with a loud thud you saw a trickle of blood run down his head, he was knocked out hard.

"You attacked a teacher!" Hermione shouted in shock.

"Thank you." Sirius said looking between the two of you.

"I still don't believe you." Harry said.

"Then allow me to show you proof." Sirius said.

"Explain first." You said.

"That rat has a toe missing, right?" Sirius asked.

"Yeah, so?" Harry asked.
