Eldora Dirt Derby

"Hello and welcome to Eldora for the Eldora Dirt Derby, following qualifying and duel races Stewart Friesen qualified on pole. Our points leader Jacob Rose just made the race starting 30th after having to go to the Last Chance Qualifier with an engine problem in duel 3. The rookie has very limited experience on dirt and this could be a sign that he has a weakness. Starting on Friesen's outside is Ben Rhodes, someone who has shown great improvement on the dirt and could take a shot at Friesen early on. Another big driver in the 27 of Chase Briscoe, this is his only truck series start scheduled and he hopes to make an impact different from 2017 when he almost flipped the truck."

While the FS1 team talks about the race, you won't find Jacob on the grid currently, he's by himself inside his motorhome gathering his focus. With about 15 minutes until the race, Jacob steps out and walks to his truck. He gets onto pit road just in time for the national anthem. After that, he climbs into his truck and calls Nick over.

"What's up?" Nick asks

"Nothing, I just want a kiss."

"Only after you win."

Jacob chuckles "Fine, now you gave me a reason to charge through the field."

The crew puts the window net up as Jacob gets his gloves and helmet on. He then puts the steering wheel on and gets ready for the race to start. The trucks are fired and roll out of the pit lane. The field forms 4 lines as a salute to the fans. As Jacob is on the outside he waves to the fans. After that lap, Jacob falls back to 30th, the lowest starting spot in his NASCAR career. One more lap until we go green, Jacob closes his visor as the leaders round turn 4.

"Stewart Friesen will lead the field to the green flag! Already he's up to the top of the track as further back it's 3 wide for 25th. Jacob Rose will use that high side as an advantage to power past Cody Coughlin. 3 laps into this event we have a caution! Johnny Sauter spins off of turn 2. He was running 30th at the time so no-one else is collected in his spin."

"Caution already, Sauter self spun."

"Well, shit, hopefully, we can go back green soon."

"There's still 145 laps left."

"I know, but the truck has amazing speed. I want to charge to the front."

"Ok Jacob, just remember this is a long race, don't push it. Going green this time by, we will restart P25."

"10-4, let's get this win."

"Green flag is back in the air here at Eldora! Stewart Friesen blocks Chase Briscoe off the start once again, while Jacob Rose and others start to force their way up to the front of the pack."

Well he was... when disaster struck

"I'm losing power!"

"Are you sure?"

"I'M FUCKING FLAT OUT! It's broken."

"Bring it to pits, we'll fix it."

"What's the point. It's some shit in the engine. I'm trying to put it in gear again, it's not shifting."

Jacob turns the truck into the pits and parks it. He undoes his window net and climbs out, walking back towards his motorhome. In the past 4 races, it's either been win or bust. Scoring his 3rd last-place finish of the year was hard on him. He walks into his motorhome and flops down on the couch. Nick walks out of the bedroom and sits next to him.

"Bad race huh?"

"Yea... it sucked."

Nick lifts Jacob's head and sets it on his lap. 

"Listen, this happens, do not worry."

"Thanks hun."

"Always for you." Nick says with a smile
