Chapter 32

***A Month and a Half Later***

“You know what day it is?” Luke asked, leaning against the door frame of our room, as I sat on our bed, using my laptop.

“Yes July 6, 2015 or our two year anniversery to be exact.” I smiled as Luke sat next to me.

“Everyone’s going out tonight.” Luke commented. “That means we get the whole apartment to ourselves.” He added.

“We should have a movie night.” I said enthusiasticly.

“Only if we get pizza.” Luke said.

“Of course.” I laughed and we jumped off the bed to pick out movies to watch.

I started looking through all the movies we had in the apartment while Luke grabbed us drinks and snacks from the kitchen.  

“Which movies did you pick.” Luke said looking through the selection I pulled. “I swear you have the weirdest movie genre taste.” He laughed.

“What do you mean?” I asked pretending to be hurt by his comment.

“I mean you have a mix of movies ranging from comedy to action to adventure to romance.” He laughed.

“What’s romance?” I asked him and he held up the Fault in Our Stars. “That’s more drama than anything.” I chuckled trying to defend my movie pick.

“But I would like to watch it.” I added giving him the puppy dog face.

“I don’t know I rather watch Fury.” He chuckled holding up the film that I loved that came out last year.

“Fine but only because I love that movie. Then we’re watching one of my picks.” I said and he agreed to my condition.

We put the movie in and sat on the couch to watch the movie. Luke wrapped an arm around my shoulders and I snuggled in next to him. When the movie was almost over he ordered the pizza.

“I can’t belive we’ve been dating for two years.” He said as soon as the movie ended and we started getting plates for the pizza. 

“It feels longer because of everything that happened this past year.” I commented.

“Yeah but it was time well spent with you.” He pointed out and then kissed me.

“I’m going to go get the pizza.” He added grabbing his walet before leaving the apartment.

“How do you fell about your last name?” he asked walking back into the apartment, the pizza box in hand.

“My last name?” I asked. “I’ve had to live with it for 19 years so I would say I like it. Why?” I questioned.

“No reason.” He shrugged it off handing me the box.

“Whats in the bag?” I asked.

“Garlic bread.”

“Yes! You know me so well.” I laughed giving him a quick peck on the lips.

I sat the box down on the counter and was about to take a slice when I knowticed a note on the cover of the box; unfolding it,  it read,

I became speechless, almost confused, even though theres nothing to be confused about. I turned around to find Luke on one knee. I almost feel to the ground, but of course like always, Luke was there to catch me. My eyes started to fill with tears, I couldn’t even comprehend what was happening, but all I knew was I wanted to say yes.

“Katharine . . .” Luke smiled. “Will you marry me?” he asked.

“Yes!” I gasped tears now rolling down my face.

Luke placed the ring on my left hand and then whipped my tears away. I looked down at my perfect engagement ring.

“Do you like it?” Luke asked me.

“I love it! I love you!” I rambled but to excited and happy to even care.

“So about your last name.” he smiled.

“That’s why you asked how I felt about my last name?” I laughed wrapping my arms around his neck.

“Yep, I think Katharine Hemmings sounds pretty incredable if you ask me.” He grinned.

“Yeah it does.” I smiled kissing him.

I cant belive this it happening. So much has happened to me in two years, my life has changed so much, both good and bad. I was able to have a second chance at life and I’m so grateful that Luke has been by my side the whole time. I can’t wait to become Mrs. Katharine Hemmings and call Luke my forever. This is just the beginning.
