**Katharine’s POV**

Today’s the day! Luke was flying me out to LA and I couldn’t control myself! To be honest I kind of liked the idea of my parents not knowing, it made me feel like a rebel and I’m proud of myself for that; I’m tired of being a push over. I’m going to do what I want, it’s my life and I’m going to do what makes me happy.

Before leaving the house for the airport I thanked Brian again and gave him a big hug and he told me to have fun. I gave Dakota a hug too and Katey and I hopped in the car with Gill driving me to the airport. The car ride was full of nonstop laughing, giggling and excitement. As we pulled up in front of Newark Airport the three of us got out of the car. I grabbed my suit case from the trunk and slung my duffle bag over my shoulder.

“Even if it’s only two days I’m ganna miss you!” Katey said to me, “But I couldn’t be happier for you!” she said as she hugged me.

“Thanks” I said to her.

“Now don’t get kidnapped or anything.” Gill said laughing, pulling me in for a tight hug.

“I won’t!”

“And don’t forget to put a good word in for us so Michael and Calum will want to date us!” she added.

“Oh yeah that’s the most important part.” Katey said sarcastically and we huddled together for a group hug.

“And text us every day with details girl.” Gill told me, with sorrow ringing through her voice adding to the fact that she was going to miss me.

“Awe Gill are you going to cry?” I asked her sarcastically and I thought she was going to slap me.

“No!” she yelled with slight annoyance, there’s the Gill I know. As tough as she is Gill is also a big mush ball of other emotions, I just happen to be the person she shows them in front of. “I need updates! Like if you and Luke do the doddlydo.” She said to me, winking.

“Gill!” Katey shouted at her and slapped her arm, because she knows I’m not that kind of girl.

“What?” she asked not being able to stop laughing, “I’m curious!” and we just laughed with her.

“I’ll keep you guys updated don’t worry.”

“Yeah you better.” Katey said to me and we had one more group hug.

“Have fun!” they shouted back at me, as I took my suit case and headed toward the entrance to the airport.

“I will” I shouted back, before I opened the door I turned around and waved them good-bye and they returned the gesture; with that I walked inside in the direction of security.

It’s so different doing this by myself, the last time I was on a plan I was 12 and with my parents. Now I’m 17 it’s the beginning of July, it’s crowded as hell with families going on vacations, and even though I’ve never done this by myself before, I know how to fight for myself and push through a crowd (other than that time with the girls at the concert because that took me by surprise and nothing can stop a stamped of crazy hormone girls).  As I made it through security I went toward the direction of my gate, I was proud of myself for not getting lost because I’m actually really good with a sense of direction. I made it with about a half hour to kill so I bought a bag of chips and a water bottle, plugged in my head phones, making sure to leave one ear bud out so I could listen for my flight being called, and started listening to my music.

“Flight 7 to Los Angeles, your plane is now boarding. Flight 7 to Los Angeles, your plane is now boarding.” I heard over the speakers, I stood up and walked over to where people had begun to board. I found my seat with no problem Row K, Seat C (yes the window seat!) and  I put my bag in the overhang and took my seat.

“This is Captain Johnson speaking; we will be taking off for Los Angeles shortly. It’s about a 6 hour flight; we will be arriving there around 9 a.m. We ask that you remain seated as we make our departure, all electronics turned off and to please keep your trays in the upright position and thank you for flying United.”

“Onboard now. About to take off! Can’t wait to see you!”

I quickly texted Luke before turning my phone off. I looked out the window watching the plane take off with no problem and viewed as I left New Jersey; with that I put both ear buds in and fell asleep listening to a shuffle of 5 Seconds of Summer, Fall Out Boy, Artic Monkeys, Imagine Dragons and so on playing through my eardrums.
