A Fresh Start

  The waitress brought out our food and we ate. Onyx had just finished and was sitting there pouting and holding her belly.

"Ims soo full" Onyx looked up at me pouting

"Me too. That was good thanks Tali" Solana said calling me by a nickname she picked up when she first met me.

"Yeah, that meal was solid. Ready to go boo?" I asked Onyx.

I remember her asking for cake but I think she forgot since she's so full.

"Nuuu you said if I finish what's on my plate I could have cake and I want cakeeee" she crossed her arms and glared at me.

"Okay okay, calm boo. I just thought that since you were full you didn't want it anymore. We'll order ya some cake ma" I should have known she would still want that cake.

"Yayyyy!" She half yelled and started dancing in her seat.

I let her enjoy her moment and I enjoyed it to she looked so happy and carefree. Smiling and literally bouncing with excitement over a slice of cake. After just looking at her for a moment I looked up and noticed a couple of people looking over at our table.

They all had different expressions. One table sat a couple. They were looking at us with what seemed to be fascination. One of the other tables was just an older woman. I made eye contact with her and she just shook her head and went back to minding her own. The last table is the table that really pissed me off. It was another couple. They were sitting there mocking my baby and not only that pointing.

I just turned around and ignored them. My baby wants cake so I'm going to get her cake. Then we are going to leave because if we don't I'll probably spaz out.

"Um excuse me, waitress? Can I get one slice of coffee cake and a small glass of milk.?" I asked our waitress.

"No problem. I'll be right back." She said then turned to walk away.

"Lia I'm getting cake. I'm so excited I love cake, Lia. Thank youuu." Onyx said sounding a lot smaller than before.

"No problem sweetheart. Anything for the baby." I said cooing at her.

"Mmm, not baby tho I'm big girl remember." She looked up at me smiling

"Yes, of course, my mistake. Anything for the big girl."

"Ah, here you go. One slice of coffee cake and a small glass of milk. Do you need anything else?" The waitress came over interrupting our little banter.

"No thank you that'll be all," I said while handing Onyx the cake slice and glass of milk.

  I talked to Solana some more while Onyx ate her cake and drank her milk. She made a small mess and had a big milk mustache by the time she was finished. I cleaned her face and wiped her hands off before wiping the mess on the table. We all sat there for a couple of minutes after she was done to talk more and pay. Then we got up to leave. When we were leaving we passed that one couple who was mocking my baby. I wanted to say something so bad but Onyx was still little and I didn't want to upset her. We got to the car and I help Onyx into the car and buckled her in. She decided she wanted to sit in the back so Solana sat upfront with me.

"Am I taking y'all straight home or is there anything else you want to do?" I asked.

"Home home home. I want my paci." Onyx said really quickly.

"I have nothing to do so home it is," Lana said.

"Okay then let's go. Solana do you want the aux?" I asked

"For sure. O what kind of music you feeling rap, r&b, hip hop?" Solana asked turning around to look at Onyx.

"Ummmmm r&b, please. But not old school the new stuff." Onyx said.

"I got you," Solana said opening up Spotify on her phone.

  She started by playing Loverboy by Tash and then for the rest of the ride we just sang along and Onyx danced in her seat the whole time. We pulled into the driveway way and Solana hopped out yelling something about having to pee while running towards the house. I turned around to look at Onyx the asked her if she wanted me to stay with her.

"Yes, please. We can go cuddle yes?" She said sounding so small.

"Of course Cmon boo," I said getting out of the car.

  I had got out and realized she hadn't moved so I opened her door and unbuckled her then helped her out. We walked to the house holding hands and she went to her room while I went to the kitchen.

  While I was in the kitchen I grabbed a sippy cup and put water in it then headed upstairs. When I got up there she was taking off her clothes so I told her I'd wait in the hall but she told me to come help her. I walked over to her and asked her what she needs me to do.

"Can you pick out my outfit and help me dress?" She asked.

"Yep. Let's see what we have in here." I said opening up a drawer with her little space clothes.

  I grabbed a purple and white striped bodysuit with some white booty shorts to put on over it then I grabbed purple knee-high socks. I walked her over to the bed and pulled off her clothes from earlier today redressed her and then slipped her binky in her mouth. I took off my shoes grabbed her sippy cup and turned on cartoons. I laid down and pulled her down next to me so we could cuddle. After about 20 minutes she started to squirm around and whine.

"Onyx what's the matter baby?" I asked her.

"I haves to potty." She said still squirming around.

"Okay, cmon let's go to the potty then," I said standing up and walking with her to the bathroom.

After she went potty she pointed at the bathroom closet. She didn't say anything though. Just pointed. I opened the door and looked in there. I didn't know she wanted so I stepped to the side and she pointed again but this time lower down. I looked at the bottom and there was a pack of pull-ups and a couple of other things.

"You want a pull-up baby?" I asked carefully just Incase I might upset her.

"Mhm," she nodded while looking down at her feet.

"Hey, it's okay baby. You don't have to be embarrassed." I patted her back and grabbed a pull-up.

I helped her into the pull-up and then we went back to her room we laid back down and continued watching her cartoons. I handed her her sippy cup and about 30 minutes later she was asleep. I decided to nap with her so I pulled her closer and fell asleep with her in my arms.
