Faithful mascot,
standing on the field,
omniscient, eternal.
This is not "Sparky,"
a false construct of a new generation.
This is The Sundevil,
The First Mascot.
This is the angel with the scowling face,
the seraphim wrapped in a devil suit.
This is the soul of Eldorado High,
the reason we proudly wear
maroon and gold
and proclaim ourselves Sundevils.
The Sundevil stands,
triumphant and alone,
in the trampled grass of the football field,
surveying her temple,
and revels in the reunion of her disciples.
Let the children have their toys.
Let them pretend she never existed.
The Sundevil knows better,
and she knows that some still remember
the Sundevil's true face.
