Tzuyu smiled brightly, though she covered her face with her hands quickly, her shy side showing in the small action.

"I'm going to sing in Jihyo's song," blurted out Tzuyu, her hands still hiding her face.

Chaeyoung's eyes widened. "Really? How? I mean, is it a duet or feature or something?'

Tzuyu shook her head, dropping her hands into her laps and blushing furiously. "Not that important," she mumbled.

Chaeyoung scooted forward, reaching forward to take Tzuyu's hand in her own. "It's plenty important, I'm sure."

The taller girl laced her fingers in Chaeyoung's, her piercing stare searching the older girl, studying the way she was smiling-- so softly, so proudly-- and the way she leaned toward Tzuyu as though she needed to be closer to her.

"Mina and I were chosen by the managers," Tzuyu said softly, slowly, as if searching for the right words. "To sing backing vocals in her second single. Not that big of a deal, but I didn't think that I was a good enough vocalist for anything like that, yet."

"I'm so proud of you," the brunette told her quietly, squeezing her hand kindly. The atmosphere felt serene and eternal, and Tzuyu didn't want to leave the moment. She wanted Chaeyoung to smile like that forever, and she wanted to feel this happy everyday.

"When do you record?" asked Chaeyoung curiously, running her free hand through her messy brown locks.

"Soon, I think," Tzuyu told her shyly. "It's easy enough, and we have a couple days. I've never recorded my own voice in a studio before. I'm excited. Kind of scared, too. What if I don't record good enough vocals with the time we're given?"

"You will," Chaeyoung told her firmly. "You've got this, Tzuyu. And if you want to practice with me, I can help you with pronunciation. If that's an issue, of course."

"Actually," Tzuyu said suddenly, straightening in her seat. "Can I practice right now?"

"Of course," Chaeyoung told her reassuringly. "I'd love to hear you sing." She didn't have an ounce of doubt that she wouldn't like Tzuyu's singing. Maybe she was just setting herself up for disappointment, but somewhere, in her heart of hearts, she knew that she'd like the raven haired girl's voice.

Tzuyu took a deep breath, and without further ado or stalling, she began singing. Her voice was still mostly warmed up, as she'd just left the practice room minutes ago, and it flowed beautifully from the very first note.

Tzuyu closed her eyes, trying to focus completely on each note and each syllable, ignoring the way Chaeyoung watched her so warmly, and the way they were still holding hands.

The room was quiet, but for Tzuyu, singing low, melodic notes in an unusual yet beautiful melody. Her tone was smooth and whole, and just a touch of sorrow mixed with the hopeful lyrics.

She only sang for twenty seconds, but Chaeyoung heard a lifetime of practice in the brief segment of singing.

"How was it?" asked Tzuyu immediately opening her eyes and peering at Chaeyoung hopefully.

Chaeyoung didn't say anything for a moment, and Tzuyu shifted nervously. She held Chaeyoung's opinion highly, and really wanted her to like her singing.

"Really, really beautiful," exhaled Chaeyoung. She was a little blindsided by her own bias, but she was speaking what she believed to be true.

A small smile appeared on Tzuyu's face at Chaeyoung's words. "You mean it?"

"Of course I do," Chaeyoung laughed. "That was so pretty, Tzuyu. Now I know for sure that you're going to do amazing when you record."

"Thank you, Chae," mumbled Tzuyu, pleased with Chaeyoung's praise.

"Of course, sweetie," Chaeyoung told her happily, squeezing her hand. Tzuyu couldn't suppress a shiver at the unexpected pet name.

"Is... Is that okay with you?" asked Chaeyoung worriedly. She knew for certain now that she liked the younger girl in a romantic sense, and she knew that she felt very protective of her. Instinctively, she kept calling Tzuyu pet names because of that, and she really hoped the younger girl didn't like it.

"Is what okay?" asked Tzuyu innocently.

Chaeyoung blushed ever so slightly, looking down at their intertwined fingers. "The nicknames... baby, angel, sweetie... Is that okay?"

"Yeah," Tzuyu decided. "Why?"

Chaeyoung frowned slightly. Did Tzuyu not realize that those names were usually used in a romantic sense? Did she not realize how Chaeyoung liked her?

"What is it?" asked Tzuyu, concerned. She noticed the way Chaeyoung's shoulders had slumped and eyes turned stormy. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, Tzu," Chaeyoung told her with a weak smile. "Just thinking, is all."

The taller girl didn't seem impressed. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah," she sighed, softly pulling her hand out of Tzuyu's grip. "Don't worry."

"Are you tired?" interrogated Tzuyu cautiously. She seemed a bit worried now, watching Chaeyoung with a nervous expression on her face.

"A little," Chaeyoung admitted. It was true. It was getting late, and she'd slept bad the night before. "Tense, I guess."

"Come here," instructed Tzuyu gesturing to the cushion beside her. Chaeyoung, not wanting to disagree, slide closer to the tall model, carefully leaning her head against Tzuyu's shoulder to test the waters.

Tzuyu leaned her head on top of Chaeyoung, breathing in soft, melodic puffs. Chaeyoung felt warmth fill her body as her heart beat settled. Chaeyoung closed her eyes, feeling safe and comfortable leaning against the taller girl.

But barely a few seconds of peace passed before Chaeyoung felt doubt creep into her mind. Tzuyu was straight, Chaeyoung assumed. And her co-worker, technically. And uninterested. And she had a reputation to uphold, being a trainee for such a young company.

Tzuyu lifted her head, and Chaeyoung shifted away, lifting her head off of Tzuyu and looking away.

Unexpectedly, Tzuyu gently, though with an startling amount of force, pulled Chaeyoung onto her lap, hugging her closely. Chaeyoung squeaked in dismay and panic.

Tzuyu laughed quietly. "You looked cold."

"I..." Chaeyoung was speechless, and afraid that if she tried to say anything her voice would be an octave higher.

"Thank you for helping me, Chae," Tzuyu mumbled against her neck, sounding sleepy. Her voice sounded deeper than normal, and it made Chaeyoung shiver slightly.

"No problem," Chaeyoung whispered in response.
