thirty ; chances

 Chaeyoung felt confused. And hazy. And honestly, fairly upset. She really wanted to be happy about the unexpected success for Jihyo and her beautiful, relaxing solo that was climbing the charts and being downloaded digitally by the thousands, but she was distracted. Constantly. It was like her senses had gone into overdrive, and she was seeing everything in a crystal clear light.

It came down to Tzuyu, if Chaeyoung was being completely honest. Well, that, and more. But mostly Tzuyu. It was a bit embarrassing that she was letting herself feel so discombobulated about a girl, but it was happening regardless.

Tzuyu was sending her weirdly mixed signals, whether she was meaning to or not. One moment she'd be complimenting Chaeyoung and cuddling her, the next moment she'd be acting awkward and not looking Chaeyoung in the eye. It was very weird. Worst of all, Chaeyoung didn't know how to react. She wanted to say something, but didn't want to misinterpret anything, or make Tzuyu upset. Definitely not the latter. Chaeyoung would rather stay confused than upset Tzuyu, though she knew that kind of mindset was a little worrying.

Around two and a half weeks had passed since Tzuyu had first sang for her at Chaeyoung's apartment. It felt like their relationship and actions toward each other had changed significantly throughout the brief period, and Chaeyoung was unsure how it had happened. Both girls had become more touchy towards each other, and the tension between them had risen, though Chaeyoung felt like Tzuyu didn't even notice, though it would be difficult not to. Even Dahyun and Momo had noticed when they'd hung out a few days before. Dahyun had made weird faces at Chaeyoung when she noticed how Tzuyu had reached for Chaeyoung's hand and how Chaeyoung had snuggled into her at the first action. Later, Momo had cornered Chaeyoung and asked if anything was going on between them. A flustered Chaeyoung had stammered out excuses, though Momo didn't seem convinced.

Chaeyoung's interest in Tzuyu only grew with the time they spent together, and this realization further increased her blurry confusion. This wasn't the first time she'd had a one sided crush on a pretty girl, but this time she was closer with the person in question to begin with, and it was messing with her head.

Especially since Chaeyoung knew nothing about Tzuyu's dating experience or sexuality. For all Chaeyoung knew, Tzuyu saw her as her older sister. The thought of that hurt Chaeyoung's heart, but she knew it was very likely to be true.

She just wished she knew whether or not she had a chance with Tzuyu.

Chaeyoung knew it was most likely she was straight, or at least in denial, considering the homophobic mindset many people there had. Thankfully, YW was a very welcoming company, and ensured that prejudiced people had no place in the company. Tzuyu wouldn't be there if she was homophobic, which somewhat reassured Chaeyoung, who'd known she was pansexual for a very long time and considered it an important part of her identity.

She needed to probe a little bit at Tzuyu, to see if she said anything. And maybe come out to her if the time was right.

And so Chaeyoung texted Tzuyu during her lunch break, a simple offer to come over and eat leftover takeout and hang out. Not too late, of course, Chaeyoung added, remembering that Tzuyu had a modeling job she'd secured the next day.

Tzuyu responded half an hour later, giving her an enthusiastic response declaring she'd meet her at Chaeyoung's closing time, so they could walk together. The evening in the warm, summery months made for a pleasant walk, so Chaeyoung was happy to comply. The rest of the work day flew by, and suddenly Chaeyoung was standing by the company doors, waiting for the door to the staircase to open. Right as Chaeyoung checked the time, the door leading to upstairs swung open, revealing Tzuyu, her smile wide

"Hey Chaeyoung!" greeted the tall girl brightly.

Chaeyoung just smiled softly in response, her eyes drinking in the sight of Tzuyu, slightly sweaty and fit looking in her tank top and leggings.
