Derek's Insecure, Stiles Doesn't Know What For (Mature Content)

        The thing is: Stiles knows something is wrong with Derek. Stiles knows his boyfriend all too well even after only a short few months of dating.  He isn't sure what's got Derek so upset, but he plans on asking him about later when he sees him again.

            They're at Derek's loft, and Stiles laying across Derek's lap watching him instead of the television. Derek is absentmindedly reading a book, and he is making a point of not touching Stiles. Although Stiles is laying across him, Derek is has his one of hands hanging over the edge of the couch and the other holding the book. Stiles has been watching long enough to see that he has been on the same page for the last fifteen minutes.

            Finally having enough, Stiles easily takes the book from Derek and lays it on the coffee table. "Okay, what is with you?" Stiles says, and Derek doesn't really look at him. Stiles sits up with a sigh before he turns his body to face Derek. Stiles is pretty sure that he hasn't done anything, and it's probably just Derek being the emotionally constipated werewolf he always is. "Derek." Stiles tries, this time softer and Derek looks at him with guarded eyes.

            "Stiles, I don't think this is working out." Derek says, carefully and Stiles just gapes at him. Stiles stares at him before he realizes what is going on. Derek is scared of relationships, and this was getting to be too much for him. Honestly, Stiles excepted it sooner rather than now. He knew that when Derek finally took notice of all of Stiles' things littering his loft, Derek would freak out. Stiles doesn't blame Derek, he track record proves that Derek has gotten screwed over by his past girlfriends, and he wants to be able to help Derek through this. To prove that he would never hurt Derek.

            "What?" Stiles says, and Derek bites his lip so hard that Stiles can see it bleed for a second before it heals.

            "I don't think this is working out." Derek repeats, quietly. He isn't looking at Stiles anymore, and Stiles feels a bubble of anger in him. He knows that Derek is broken inside still, and Stiles just wants to help but he can't without Derek wanting him too.

            "Why isn't this working out?" Stiles says, and Derek shrugs his shoulders. Stiles smacks his arm as hard as he can. "Don't shrug at me, asshat." Stiles says, and Derek just shrugs again. Stiles is about to yell at him when he realizes what Derek is doing. Derek is going to douchebag himself into getting Stiles to hate him. Stiles isn't sure exactly why Derek is doing this, but he knows for a fact it is what he is doing.

            Stiles stands up to gather some of his things, he plans on leaving everything else to remind Derek about him, and he walks out without another word. Stiles decides that when Derek realizes Stiles isn't going to hurt him, he will take Derek back after the stupid sourwolf apologizes.

            It's been two weeks, and Derek still hasn't come to his senses yet. Stiles is starting to doubt that Derek is coming back, but he knows deep in his heart that Derek still loves him. Derek isn't doing any better, he knows that he shouldn't have broken up with the best thing that has ever happened to him. He is afraid that Stiles is going to hurt him in some way, and Derek cannot take any more heart break in his life.

            Stiles is going to visit his father to bring him some healthy food in hopes of distracting the older man from the box of doughnuts. Stiles carries the bag of food containing his dad's salad and his cheeseburger, his dad has to eat healthy not him, when he runs right smack into someone. "Shit." Stiles says, and the person laughs as they try to steady him. Stiles looks up to see one of the new deputy that just started working here. "I'm sorry, man." Stiles says, and the guy smiles while handing him his food.
