Part three!
_______________________________________________________
Stiles was curled completely in the blankets on his and Derek’s bed when he hears a soft clicking noise. Stiles smiles to himself at the familiar sound, and he burrows his face into his husband’s back. Stiles feels the bed shift and squeak and then the clicking continues. Stiles kisses the tattoo on Derek’s back in open mouthed kisses before he throws off the covers dramatically.
Stiles and Derek’s now six year old daughter is kneeling on the bed with her camera that Derek got for her birthday only a few weeks ago. Stiles wasn’t sure if she was going to like it, but she quickly abandoned her dolls in favor of it. Claudia is surprisingly careful with it despite having inherited Stiles’ clumsiness that is often counteracted with her werewolf traits.
“Morning, Daddy.” Claudia says, and she snaps another picture of Derek while he twitches in his sleep before reaching his arm behind him for Stiles. He settles his arm on Stiles’ thigh before stilling, and Stiles shakes his head fondly before turning his attention back to their daughter.
“Good Morning, baby.” Stiles says, rubbing his eyes. Claudia snaps another picture of him, and Stiles gently takes the camera from her to set it on the bedside table. Claudia crawls into his arms while Stiles lays back down. Stiles manages to see that Derek’s alarm is going off in ten minutes, and Claudia snuggles in between them. It is a ritual of sorts, Claudia climbing in their bed. When she was younger, Stiles had a bad habit of bring her into the bed to sleep with them. Scott laughed and called them co-sleepers, but when Isaac and Danny said that they did the same thing with Isabella and with their now three year old son, Avan,  Stiles felt better.
Derek groan in his sleep, Claudia nuzzles her face into his side, and he stills. Stiles smiles at them while he watches his daughter cuddle with her father. Derek’s alarm rings out, and he slaps his hand at it until it turns off. Derek rubs his eyes before pulling Claudia towards him to hug her towards his body. “Hi, Poppy.” Claudia whispers, and Derek nuzzles his face into her hair.
“Hi, baby girl.” Derek rasps, and Stiles sits up in bed to lean over and kiss him good morning. “Go make breakfast with daddy, pup.” Derek says, scooping her up to hand her towards Stiles. Claudia laughs loud and clear when Stiles holds her towards the ceiling in his hands, and Derek shakes his head fondly before getting out of bed.
Stiles takes Claudia towards the bathroom so that they can brush their teeth before making breakfast. Claudia is humming to herself as Stiles picks her up to carry her around the kitchen. “Daddy.” Claudia says, and Stiles looks at her. “I want cereal for breakfast.” She says, and Stiles nods. Stiles sets her down in the living room to play with her toys while Stiles makes coffee for himself and Derek.
When Derek gets out of the shower, he gets dressed in his work attire before making his way towards the kitchen. He watches his daughter play with her toys before he sits down next to her to hand her camera that she left in his and Stiles room. “You left this in our room, baby.” Derek says, softly. Claudia looks up at him and smiles. Derek brushes her unruly hair out of her face before kissing her forehead. She really doesn’t like getting her hair brushed, and only Stiles can do it without pulling on the tangles.
“Thank you, Poppy.” Claudia says, and Derek picks her up to carry her into the kitchen on his hip. Stiles smiles at them when they come in, and Derek sits her in her chair at the table before getting coffee. Derek hooks his head on Stiles shoulder while he pours Claudia’s cereal into a bowl.
“Good morning, Stiles. I don’t think I told you that yet.” Derek says, and Stiles laughs softly before turning around to kiss Derek. Derek parts his lips to let Stiles deepen the kiss, and Derek presses him against the counter. Stiles moans softly, and Derek grins against his lips. “I love you, mate.” Derek whispers, and Stiles grins.
“I love you too.” Stiles says, and Derek kisses him again.
“Daddy? Cereal?” Claudia calls from the dining room. Stiles chuckles softly before turning around to grab her food and get the milk from the refrigerator. Stiles walks into the dining room to give Claudia her breakfast, and helps her pour the milk.
“What’s on the agenda for today, baby pup?” Derek asks, and he gives his husband a smile in thanks when Stiles puts down a plate of toast in front of him. Claudia opens her mouth, but Stiles cuts her off.
“Chew your food first, Claudia.” Stiles says, and Claudia gives him an apologetic look before swallowing her food.
“I think Daddy’s taking me to see Isabella, and to the park to take pictures.” Claudia says, looking hopefully at Stiles. Stiles chuckles at his daughter because of her small obsession with Danny and Isaac’s daughter. He thinks it has to do with the fact that she is older and already has her ears pierced, and the fact that she has tan skin and wild curly brown hair that she inherited from Isaac. Isabella, unlike Claudia, is shy so Claudia can be a bit much to her.
“I’ll call Isaac to see if Avan is feeling better then we can go see Isabella. Plus, I think it might rain.” Stiles says, and Claudia nods her head. Stiles suspects that she is jealous that Isabella has a brother now, and she doesn’t. It’s not that Stiles and Derek don’t want any more babies, it’s just that they haven’t been lucky enough.
“Sounds fun. I, on the other hand, will be slaving away at work.” Derek says, dramatically and Stiles rolls his eyes at his husbands antics. Claudia giggles while Stiles wipes her face gently with a wet paper towel, and Derek grins at her.
Derek checks his watch, and sighs. “Going to work?” Stiles asks, and Derek nods. He hates going to work during the summer when Claudia doesn’t have school, and Stiles hates it too. Derek works as a consultant for a building company, and Stiles does web design from home. Stiles doesn’t need to work, but he does during the school year when Claudia doesn’t need his constant attention.
“I love you both.” Derek says, kissing Claudia on the head before kissing Stiles on the lips.
“I love you too, Poppy.” Claudia says, squirming in her seat.
“Go potty and get dressed, sweetie.” Stiles says, and she skips off towards the bathroom. “I love you more, oh husband of mine.” Stiles says, and Derek snorts. Derek grabs his suitcase, and Stiles walks him towards the door. “Have a great day, babe.” Stiles says, and he waits until Derek drives off until he closes the door.
Stiles walks towards the bathroom his daughter uses to see what she is doing. When he sees that she is in her room playing with her toys having been distracted by them when she was getting dressed. Stiles shake his fondly before looking for his phone to call Isaac to see if he wants to bring Isabella and Avan over. He finds it underneath the couch cushions before dialing Isaac’s number, and it rings twice before Isaac answers. “Hey, Stiles.” Isaac says.
“Hey, Isaac. How’s Avan doing?” Stiles asks, and Isaac sighs.
“He’s sleeping now, but he was up all night crying. The doctor gave us some different medicine to try, so hopefully that will work. Danny took Isabella to the zoo with Jackson and Lydia, so hopefully she won’t get what he has.” Isaac says, and Stiles nods his head despite Isaac not being about to see him.
“I hope he feels better. If you need a break, Claudia and I can come over and watch him while you take a nap. Claudia can’t get sick, perks of being a werewolf.” Stiles says, and Isaac chuckles.
“Thanks, but I just want to be with him.” Isaac says, and Stiles understands. He would do the same thing if Claudia was sick. Stiles hears Avan begin to cry, and Isaac sighs sadly. “I got to go. Love you.” Isaac says.
“Love you too, Isaac.” Stiles says, and Isaac hangs up the phone.
“Daddy, is Avan going to get better?” Claudia asks, and Stiles jumps slightly. She was a tendency to sneak up on him when she saw Derek do it. Derek was teaching her more and more about being werewolf since she was getting closer to the age where she would start to shift, and neither parent wanted her to be scared. Especially, since she was an Alpha that would have her own pack one day.
“Of course, baby. He just needs to take his medicine, and he’ll get better. So today, it’s just you and me.” Stiles says, and Claudia smiles. She moves to grab her camera to look through her pictures, and Stiles takes them time to braid her hair.
A loud clap of thunder shakes the house some, and Claudia sighs before turning around to hug Stiles around his legs in a tight grip. Despite being a self-proclaimed “big girl” she was still afraid of thunder and lightning. Stiles smiles down at her before picking her up in his arms, and she wrapped her legs around him tightly. “Just a storm, baby.” Stiles says, and Claudia nods her head against the spot where she had rested her head.
“No park?” She asks, sadly. Stiles kisses her forehead before carrying her towards the window.
“Sorry, baby. We can still have fun here, though.” Stiles tells her, and she nods.
“I just wanted to take pictures with my camera that Poppy got me.” Claudia says, sadly and Stiles cradles her closer. He thinks back to the time when she was a little babe that needed Stiles to do everything for her. Stiles remembers waking up in the middle of the night to feed her, change her, and just check on her. His mind wonders to a night in particular when Claudia was about six months old, and she cried loudly in the night. Stiles rushed towards her room only find Derek already there prepared to feed or change her, Stiles doesn’t remember what happened next but he attacked Derek. Derek told him after that he literally growled at Derek for touching Claudia, and pushed Derek to stand in between him and Claudia.
Stiles shakes the thoughts of harming Derek out his mind, and he holds his daughter closer to him. He misses when she was more cuddlier as a baby. “I miss when you were a baby. You had that baby smell, and were so cuddly.” Stiles sighs, and Claudia gives him a look before holding him tighter as if to probe that she is still cuddly.
“I had a dream last night about you, Daddy.” Claudia says, and Stiles sets her on the couch to clean around the living room.
“Oh, what happened?” Stiles asks, amused. Claudia takes her camera in her hand to snap pictures of him while he moves around.
“Your tummy was really big like in that picture of you and Poppy by a tree.” She says, and Stiles looks at the fireplace to the picture that she was referring too. It was the Christmas before Claudia was born and Stiles and Derek were standing next to their very first Christmas tree. Stiles was around seven months along, and both he and Derek were smiling really wide at the camera while Scott took the picture.
“Yeah? You were in my belly.” Stiles tells her, and she looks at him in awe.
“Did you eat me?” She asks, and Stiles laughs loud in surprise before going back to picking up her toys.
“No, honey! I grew you in my tummy.” Stiles says, and Claudia moves to stand next to him. Stiles rubs absently at his tummy thinking of how strange it was for Claudia to be having a dream about him pregnant when he and Derek started talking about having another baby.
“I hate the rain.” Claudia huffs, and Stiles smiles at her softly before picking her up in arm.
“Let’s go watch the rain on the porch. It’s pretty just like you, baby.” Stiles says, and Claudia looks at him. Stiles picks up her camera and hands it to her before opening the door to stand on the porch. The rain was falling down in fat drops, but the thunder and lightning had stopped. Stiles wouldn’t have taken her outside with the loud noise. “Rain is a good thing.” Stiles says, and Claudia snaps pictures of the rain before looking at him.
“Why, Daddy? Why?” Claudia asks, and Stiles gets distracted by watching the rain fall on the play set and Claudia huffs loudly. “Daddy!” She says, and Stiles kisses her cheek in apology.
“It makes things grow.” Stiles tries to explain.
“So if I run in it I’ll get big like Poppy?” She asks, and Stiles laughs loudly before cuddling her closer to him.
“No, you’ll get wet and have to take a bath.” Stiles says, and she wrinkles her nose in distaste. He sees a flash off lightening in the distance, and it surprises Claudia. Her eyes flash alpha red for a second before going back to normal, and Stiles holds in his gasp. She must not of realized it because she didn’t say anything. Stiles takes her into the house, and sets her with her toys in the living room. “I am going to go to the bathroom. You play, and then I’ll make lunch.” Stiles says, and she nods.
Stiles walks into the bathroom, and before he pees he looks at the medicine cabinet to see the familiar pregnancy test box. It is there almost as a mockery for when a few months ago when Derek and Stiles adamantly tried for another baby unsuccessfully, and Stiles could have sworn he threw it away in rage fit when it showed that stupid blank line. Stiles bites his lip before deciding what the hell and he takes the last one to pee on.
The test takes five minutes, and he sneaks a quick peak on his daughter to see her playing quietly with her wolf plushy that Stiles bought her on a whim. When he looks at his watch he sees that five minutes have passed, and he sneaks into the bathroom. Stiles just couldn’t make himself look at it. He pacing the bathroom, running his hand through his hair before a knock on the door makes him jump. “Daddy? Poppy’s on the phone.” Claudia says, softly. Stiles laughs shakily before opening the door to grab the phone. Claudia was looking at him worried, and he kissed her head. She gives him a parting look before going back to taking pictures of random things in the house.
“Hello?” Stiles says, and he hears Derek inhale sharply.
“Are you okay, Stiles?” Derek rushes out, and Stiles looks at the test out of the corner of eyes before answering.
“Why do you ask?” Stiles says, and he hears Derek move somewhere quieter.
“Claudia can smell your anxiety, Stiles. She called me.” Derek says, softly and Stiles feels a pang in his chest.
“I’m fine.” Stiles says, and Derek sighs.
“Don’t lie to me, Stiles.” Derek says, and Stiles sighs before sitting on the edge of the tub.
“I think I’m pregnant.” Stiles says, and Derek inhales sharply. Derek doesn’t say anything at first, but Stiles could practically hear his husbands thoughts racing on the other end of the phone.
“Stiles, we talked about this.” Derek says, and Stiles huffs angrily.
“You think I don’t know that, Derek?” Stiles sasses.
“I just don’t want you to be upset if you aren’t. Do you want me to bring home some home tests?” Derek asks, and Stiles bites his lip.
“We had one here.” Stiles says, sheepishly. Derek gasps, and Stiles looks at his lap. He pets at his stomach fondly, and he runs his fingers across the now faded stretch marks on his flat stomach.
“What did it say?” Derek asks, and Stiles sighs.
“I haven’t looked yet.” Stiles whispers.
“Stiles.” Derek says, and Stiles audibly shallows thickly. He stares at the test before stand up to walk the short-but it feels like a mile-distance to the sink where he left the test face down. “It’s okay if you’re not. It’s okay if we only have Claudia.” Derek says, and Stiles wipes at his face.
“I’m going to check it.” Stiles whispers, and he hears Derek’s shuddering breath.
“Okay.” Derek whispers, and Stiles breathes deeply before picking up the test but he doesn’t turn it around. He knows that Derek is right, Claudia is more than enough for him and Derek. Stiles turns around the test and lets loose a shuddering laugh at the bright pink plus sign staring up at him.
“I’m pregnant.” Stiles whispers, and Derek chokes. Stiles just laughs, and he wipes the happy tears off of his face with his hand holding the test.
“I love you so much.” Derek says, and Stiles laughs.
“I love you too. I can’t believe this.” Stiles says, and Derek laughs his agreement. “Come home, please.” Stiles says.
“I’m on my way already.” Derek says, and Stiles nods. “I love you, okay? I’ll pick up pizza in celebration. Tell Claudia I love her. Don’t tell her about the new baby without me.” Derek says, and Stiles is still just staring at the test.
“I won’t. I love you. I’ll you soon.” Stiles says, and Derek says he loves one more time before hanging up. Stiles puts his phone down before taking the test to put in a safe place in his room, and he heads back towards the living room to his daughter while rubbing his stomach affectionately.
Claudia running towards him to jump in his arms, and he easily picks her up. “Are you okay, Daddy?” She asks, and Stiles cuddles her closer.
“Of course, baby. Poppy’s coming home early with pizza.” Stiles tells her, and she smiles at him. She squirms out of his grip to go play with her toys, and Stiles watches her fondly. Stiles sits on the couch just waiting for his husband while he coos softly to his tummy, and when a few more tears fall Claudia doesn’t do anything except smell the air to make sure her daddy isn’t sad before going back to playing.
