Chapter 5
"Come on! You got some explaining to do Hilary." Alex said, poking his head around Tyler's large shoulders.
I flinched at his pissed face. He had done it. He had told them. Everything.
Ugh! I'm gonna kill that jerk!
I slowly crept up to them with my head down.
Alex grabbed me by the arm and pulled me to the side.
"Why didn't you tell me!? I'm your best friend Hilary, I have a right to know these things." Alex shook my shoulders. "Ew, I just sounded like Kylee.
"Alex I'm so sorry I wanted to tell you everything! I swear! But I wasn't ready to just yet! It was all too much for me to handle and-" I broke off and choked out a sob.
I felt a betraying tear roll down my face as I looked anywhere but in his eyes.
"Wait, what are you talking about?" Alex slid two fingers under my chin and forced me to look at him. He brushed away the stray tear with his thumb gently.
"Why are you crying? You don't want to be Tyler's girlfriend?" He asked while cupping my face.
"No, I don't. I definitely- wait what?" Did he just say girlfriend? Girlfriend. Oh. Girlfriend. So that jerk did have a heart and didn't tell him.
"Uhh... No! I'm completely happy about being his girlfriend I meant! Haha I was joking..." I trailed off, fiddling with me hands.
God, I was the worst liar ever.
"Hilary." Alex said in a cautious tone.
I felt his warm hands grab mine gently and pulled them to his chest.
"I know your lying. Might as well just tell me the truth right now, before one of us gets hurt. You can trust me Hilary. Please, tell me what is it." Alex begged with his big blue adorable eyes. He spoke so sincerely that I wanted to cry.
"Alex, I know I can trust you. I trust you more than I trust anyone, including myself." I assured him.
"Then tell me. Tell me what's bothering you."
As much as it hurt me to repeat the whole story, it hurt even more to look into my best friend's eyes and say no.
So I told him. Everything.
Finally I was done, and like last time, I had tears running down my cheeks.
Alex pulled me into a hug after I was done and stroked my back soothingly.
"Oh Hilary, don't cry. You're so brave. Don't worry, we're going to get you out of this mess. I promise you." He whispered in my ear.
I nodded, feeling happy again. I had the most amazing best friend.
Although I had known Kylee my whole life, Alex was always going to be closer. We knew each other better than anyone.
I pulled away and took a napkin from Alex, and wiped my eyes.
"So we can both stay here and watch movies with pizza and ice cream then." Alex said.
He knew I wouldn't want to go shopping after all this.
I nodded and went back to my door as I heard Alex tell Kylee that she could go with her other friends for today.
"What was that all about?" I heard Tyler say.
I glanced up and couldn't help but smile at him. He looked gorgeous, he was leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed, looking like a Calvin Klein model.
Damn boy.
"I told Alex." I said as I pushed past him into my house.
"Great! Now he can attend our secret private wedding." Jerkie winked at me.
"Yeah, only in your dreams."
"Oh baby, you'll definitely be in my dreams tonight." Tyler whispered in a deep voice in my ear.
I couldn't help but shiver at his hot breath tickling my neck and ear.
I kept walking and plopped onto the couch, picking up the phone and remote.
With one hand, I dialed Pizza Hut, and with the other, I went to the movies section on TV.
"Ooh! Can I order?" Alex asked, walking in and sitting beside me.
I handed him the phone, rolling my eyes. He always liked calling them, since he spoke in a British accent, purposely making it hard for them to understand.
I found a new horror movie and rented it for eight bucks. I then went into the kitchen to get some drinks.
As I was was making my way to the fridge, I felt a pair of warm arms wrap around my waist, sending shocks through my body.
I tilted my head up and saw Tyler grinning down at me.
I pulled away from him, ignoring my heart, which was pounding like a mad man. Or a mad heart.
"I think you should go home now. It's getting late." I said to Tyler, turning back to go to the fridge, but failed when I felt his hand grip my wrist.
"Can't. Is it okay if I stay here for the night?" He asked me seriously.
"Absolutely" I watched as I saw a flash of relief in his eyes. "Not." I finished, grinning evilly.
This ain't free bed and breakfast or something!
"Please? I usually stay at my friends on days like these, but I don't have a ride."
"Chris can drop you off after he comes home from soccer practice. And what do you mean by 'days like these'?" I questioned.
He shifted from foot to foot, nervously.
Finally he sighed and said "Fine, I'll get a ride home." He winced as he said home.
What was so bad about his house?
"Okay, I'll come too. I wanna talk to your mother, if you don't mind." I said casually as I pulled out three cans of iced tea from the fridge.
"Uh, not today. You can come some other day. Just not today." He almost begged.
But of course me being me, I pressed on. I had to see what was making him so uncomfortable about going home.
"Okay, we can leave right after the movie then!" I strode out of the kitchen, smirking.
Thank you, thank you very much.
Hehe. I just sounded like Elvis Presley.
Tyler has already seen enough of my life, now it's my turn to peek into his life.
