Chapter 2
"One blue car, two blue car, three blue car-"
"Please! Just stop already! I'm having a headache!" My sixteen year old brother Chris grumbled out to my five year old brother Jordan.
"HILARY! Tell Chrissy to be nice to me!"
I watched as Jordan fake pouted in the back seat. I tried hard not to laugh at his face that looked more like constipated than mad.
"Alright you two stop it. We're almost home." I said while stopping the car at a red traffic light and trying to hold in my snicker.
After I had dragged Kylee and Alex with me to my car five minutes ago, my brother Chris needed a ride so I had to drop them both off at Kylee's house to make enough room, and had told them I would join them later.
"We're here!" Cried Jordan.
I pulled into our street and noticed there was a black SUV parked on our driveway.
I lived in this house with my brothers ever since mom and dad had left seven years ago.
Yep, that's me. That one girl that has a broken family, but I don't mind that, since having no parents means having no parental guidance...
And you're also probably wondering how my brother Jordan is five, when my parents left seven years ago. Well after they left us, a few months later, the police came to our house and gave us Jordan. They had found him abandoned in a stroller in Walmart, and had took him to the hospital to track down his parents. They had found mom and dad, but they refused to take him back, so instead they told the police to give him to Chris and I.
Its quite messed up, but I was happy we got Jordan.
Anyways, we had kept the house and I'd gotten two jobs as a waitress to pay off the bills as soon as I was old enough to work, plus my Uncle Danny who sent us bags of cash each month, since he was loaded. Chris had recently gotten a job at a bar, so that I wouldn't have to work as much, after his sixteenth birthday.
"Who's car is that? Chris did you invite anyone over?" I asked, pulling into the driveway smoothly and cutting the engine.
"No." Chris trailed off.
We got out of the car and I opened the unlocked door. So these people were inside our house... I suddenly got a sick feeling in my stomach. I spun around and faced Chris, making him bump into me with an oomph.
"I think you should drop Jordan off at Marla's" I said to him. Marla was our next door neighbor and often babysat Jordan.
He looked at me unsure, then nodded and started towards her house with Chris by his side, babbling on about cars.
I decided that I should take a weapon with me, since these people could be some serial killers for all I knew.
I took a bat that was lying on the grass nearby. I was pretty sure I wouldn't have the guts to use it, but it might scare them off.
I walked past the threshold stealthily, with the bat at my side.
I took a few steps in, the bat raised above my head, when I heard some feet shuffling towards me.
My heart was pounding so loudly in my chest, that I hoped it wouldn't give me away to these burglars.
I suddenly stopped dead in my tracks, as I saw two familiar faces come around the corner. The two faces that I prayed every day I'd never see again.
I heard the bat clatter to the ground, breaking the silence and unfreezing me.
"Mom? Dad?" I said shakily.
