"And that's how I met your mother." Finished Shawn, looking at Elio and Elijah.

Elio and Elijah looked at each other, totally overwhelmed with informations. "Wow dad, you weren't nice before."

Shawn and I agreed on being honest with them, to make them understand that yes love existed but it came with fights, break ups and cries. We didn't want our children to grow up thinking love was the perfect thing, when it wasn't all pink everyday.

"Yeah, you are right." Replied Shawn. "But, I learned from my mistakes. I grew up, and tried again with your mum. Now, look at us."

Elijah shrugged. "True." He replied. "Thank you for being honest with us, you didn't have to be." Said our sixteen years old.

"Of course." I told him, smiling. "Okay, now it's time for you guys to be honest with us."

Elio sighed, rolling his eyes. "Not again, mum." He complained. "You do this at least two times a month."

"Well, I just like to be updated about my boys life! Is that a bad thing?" I queried.

Elijah smiled. "No, I guess it's okay right E?"

"Of course Elijah would be okay with it, you're such a mommy's boy that's insane!" Laughed Elio.

Elijah sighed, slapping his brother behind the head. "Shut up, at least I'm not an asshole with mum!"

"Alright, alright boys! Calm down!" Interrupted Shawn, laying a hand on my knee. "Enough."

As they grew up, Elio and Elijah were two different person. They had a different personalities, would act different, it was actually funny to see. They were like angel and demon, ying and yang.

Elio was the heartbreaker type, even though he wouldn't say anything to me. He would tell it his dad, I guess he just thought he was a lot more like his father. He was a little troublemaker at school but with good grades, Shawn and I couldn't blame him for wanting to have fun.

On the other hand, Elijah was a lot more shy. A good student with good grades, and amazing friends. Instead of going out, he would help me cook dinner or just play guitar in the living room.

The only thing Elio and Elijah shared was their passion for hockey. Both of them played in the high school team, and were amazing players.

"So Elio, anything new?" I queried, curious.

He let out a sigh before nodding. "I broke up with my girlfriend." He explained. "She was a bitch."

I gasped at his words. "Don't say this!" I exclaimed as he let out a laugh. "Why was she a bitch though?"

"She kissed another guy." He just responded as Shawn and I gasped again.

"Well, yes, she's a bitch." I said as everyone chuckled. "What? I'm being honest! Plus, Elio doesn't deserve this..."

Shawn hummed. "You're right, you're right." He whispered. "How's school?"

"Bad, I just want it to end it." He sighed. "People are so annoying there, this is ridiculous right Elijah?"

His twin nodded. "For once, I agree with you man." He replied. "The only decent people are Leah, Armand and Elio's best friend."

"You're only saying Leah because you're in love with her!" Spoke Elio as Elijah blushed hard. "See? You're blushing!" He added, laughing.

Elijah rolled his eyes. "I'm not." He replied looking away.

"Look at us" I said as he stared at me. "You like Leah?"

He sighed, humming. "I guess I do." He answered. "I don't know, but I just don't want to upset uncle Brian. They're basically family, wouldn't be weird to like Leah?"

Shawn shrugged. "To be honest, not really. You guys aren't related by blood so it's not weird." He replied. "Plus ask your mother, but I highly think Poppy is waiting for this."

I let out a laugh, nodding my head. "That's true. Since you guys were born, she kept saying one of you will end up with one of her kids." I spoke as Shawn agreed.

"I mean he's not wrong, Leah is pretty." Said Elio shrugging. "But, a little too...Leah? I guess."

Elijah rolled his eyes, annoyed at his brothers comment. "Then she wouldn't be special, you just never take the time to actually speak with her whenever they're home!"

"Yeah! Cause she's not my type!" Argued Elio as we both let out a laugh.

Shawn wrapped his arms around the boys necks. "Alright, guys. Enough of girls. What about we all play outside? Hockey game? Or soccer game?"

"Can we please play soccer?" Asked Elijah. "Please man."

Elio sighed. "I guess we can play soccer, only if dad isn't getting old and can still run." He joked as my husband gasped.

"Elio, you're in trouble." I commented laughing.

"Well, you're staying home tomorrow night" Spoke Shawn as Elio gasped. "Yeah, that's for making fun of your dad!"

He groaned. "I was joking, dad! We all know you're the best at everything!" He exclaimed as we laughed at him.

"Say you love me and I'll let you go tomorrow night." Spoke Shawn.

I giggled knowing Elio never said 'I love you' not even to Shawn, even though he would say it a lot as a kid. But since he grew up, we couldn't get an i love you not even for our birthday. Same for the kisses or the hugs, it just disappeared.

He grunted. "Mom! Tell him to drop it!"

I shook my head, observing them. "No, just say it E. It's not a big deal." I commented.

"It is!" He said. "I can't say it, it sounds disgusting coming from me." He complained.

Shawn shrugged. "I don't care." He started. "Just say it, and you will go out tomorrow night, I promise." He spoke.

"You promise?" He asked as the curly head nodded. "Alright, um—" He scratched the back of his head. "I love you, dad." He quickly spoke, looking away from his father.

Shawn chuckled, circling both of his arms around Elio and putting him over his shoulder. Elio let out a squeaky scream, hitting his dad's father with his fists begging him to let him go.

"Dad let me go! I'm not four anymore!" He yelled over his shoulder. "Okay, I'm about to throw up."

Shawn quickly put him down. "I'm putting you down only because I'm scared of people throwing up." Commented Shawn as we chuckled. "You can go out tomorrow, I guess. See with your mom."

"Not again, you promised!" Screamed Elio, sighing.

I grinned. "I only have one request, baby..." I started. "Say I love you."

"See! You guys are morons." He mumbled. "I love you mom." He whispered.

I couldn't ask for something else. I had everything I dreamt of, a family, friends, a loving husband, an amazing job, a perfect house.

Moral of the story, love exists but it comes with ups and downs. You just have to find the right person and never give up on her.
