Klaus and Peter is the winning ship. Ship stuff will happen later!

Peter hurried down the stairs with the rest of his siblings. They all made their way to the seat they were to sit in at the table for meals. Peter sat towards the end of the table next to Allison and Father, which was not exactly a fun place to sit. They all sat down as their Father commanded them to. In the background, a record player sounded as it did during every mealtime. Instead of eating Peter threw a ball of web between both hands under the table. Most everyone was doing something other than eating. Father didn't care to say anything.

Peter was startled by Five slamming the sharp end of his knife into the table angrily. Father looked at him angrily.

"I have a question," said Five in a rude tone of voice. Father continued to eat.

"Knowledge is an admirable goal, but you know the rules. No talking during mealtimes. You are interrupting Herr Carlson," Father scolded him pointing his knife at the record player.

"I want to time travel," said Five throwing down his silverware.

"No," answered Father annoyed at having this conversation once again.

"I'm ready. I've been practicing my spatial jumps, just like you said," argued Five as he stood up from his chair. He teleported next to Father's chair at the other end of the table. "See?"

"A spatial jump is trivial when compared with the unknowns of time travel. One is like sliding along the ice, the other is akin to descending blindly into the depths of the freezing water, and reappearing as an acorn." Five snapped back that he didn't get it. "Hence the reason your not ready." Out of the corner of his eye, Peter could see Vanya shaking her head at Five as if signaling him not to go on. Peter felt worry bubbling up in his chest for his brother. There was no chance this wouldn't end badly. Five's stubbornness and big mouth were always getting him into trouble and sometimes he dragged others into it with him.

"I'm not afraid," he exclaimed.

"Fear is not the issue. The effects it might have on your body, even on your mind, are far too unpredictable," Father said matter-of-factly as he angrily cut his food. Father yelled as Five ran out. Peter jumped from his chair to follow him. He knew his brother would get himself into some kind of trouble. Peter ran out the front door as Five pushed opened the front gate.

"Five! Come back! Please don't do this!" Five ignored him. Then he was gone. Peter cried as he felt his spider-sense tell him that his brother wouldn't be back anytime soon. He collapsed on the sidewalk as he sobbed and tears ran down his face.
