Chapter 16

It's been six days since my conversation with Raini. I'm ready.

I'm finally ready to admit it. I, Laura Marie Marano, am in love with my best friend.

Ross Shor Lynch. How could this happen?

We started out as just friends, I never thought this would happen. I never thought I'd catch feelings for him.

But I guess there were signs. I couldn't do anything without thinking about him.

He made my days so much better. Whenever I was scared he'd stay up all night with me making sure I was okay.

But now I screwed up. Our whole friendship is ruined because I had to go and catch feelings for him.

But...is it really the end of the world? I mean, what if he likes me back?

What if he shares my feelings? Everything would work out.

Nothing would be screwed up. But how do you know when a guy likes you more than a friend?

I shook my head clearing away all and any thought of Ross before entering the studio. We weren't doing much today, or for the next little while for that matter.

With Ross away filming for his movie there wasn't much we could do. I threw my bag on the couch in my dressing room before walking over to the snack table.

I really should have eaten breakfast before leaving the house. As I was getting my 'breakfast' a pair of hands covered my eyes.
"Is it just me or is it every time I see you, you get shorter?"
"Shut up, Ross." I turned around and hugged him.
"What are you doing here? I thought you had to film for a couple more weeks?," I asked still holding on to him.
"I finished early." I looked up into his eyes and knew right then and there that I had to tell him how I feel about him. I released Ross from my embrace and opened my mouth to speak.
"Ross...I have to tell you something."
"One second, Laur. I want you to meet someone."
"Maia! Over here!" A couple seconds later a beautiful tall woman is at Ross' side.
"Laur, this is my girlfriend Maia. Maia, my best friend, Laur."
"Hi!," She said in her Australian accent.
"Hi!," I forced a smile. It felt like my heart was just ripped out of my chest and stepped on.
"How long have you guys been together! And why didn't I know sooner?," I glared at Ross while Maia laughed.
"We've been together for about a month now," Maia said, love showing in her brown eyes.
"I'm happy for you guys, congratulations," I said.
"Thanks, Laur. Now, what is it you wanted to tell me?," Ross asked, lacing his hand with Maia's.
"Oh, um it's nothing Riker probably already told you."
"Told me what?," Ross asked.
"Riker's going to propose to Vanessa tonight," I told him. His eyes popped out of his head and his lips curved into a gigantic smile.
"That's amazing!," Ross shouted and pulled me into a hug. I hugged him back and tried to stop the tears that threatened to fall.

Even though my heart was breaking every time I looked at the loving couple I was incredibly happy for Ross who only felt love as he looked at Maia. Not me.
