How could I let this happen?
"Finally! Thank you for finally admitting it. It was so obvious."
"Was it really?," I asked, feeling terrible for being in love with my best friend.
"Of course it was. You're always around her, protecting her, comforting her and making her laugh."
"Isn't that what best friends do?," I asked.
"Not in your case."
"Calum, what am I going to do?," I asked.
"Talk to Laura."

Saturday came around faster then I expected. Two days go by fast.

I've been avoiding Laura for two days. I feel terrible but I can't bring myself to talk to her.
"Hey," A voice spoke from behind me. I turned around to see the one girl who always managed to cheer me up.
"Hey, Laur. We need to talk."
"Oh, so now you want to talk," Laura spoke, sitting down on the grass that occupied my lawn. I sat down next to her.
"I'm sorry and I know I've been saying that a lot but I mean it."
"Why have you been a avoiding me? You're scaring me. Did I do something wrong?," Laura asked, shifting her body to face me.
"I don't want to talk you. I'm scared, Laur," I spoke, looking into her eyes. Her eyes softened.
"Why are you scared, Rossy?"
"You look pretty. Where are you going?," I asked, dodging her question. I wasn't lying though.

Laura did look pretty. She always did.
"I'm just going to hang out with Noah," Laura replied smoothly.
"Now, why are you scared?," She brought up again. I sighed.

It was now or never.
"I love you."
"I love you too, Ross." I rolled my eyes. I love Laura, but she's so naive.
"No, Laur. I love you, love you," I tried again.
"Oh. Umm...I-I-It's okay, Laur. You don't have to say anything. Have fun on your date with Noah," I interrupted her. I didn't even bother to look back as she begged me to wait.

I slammed my front door shut. Sinking to my knees, I sobbed.
Laura's POV
"I was going to tell you "I love you too." I walked away from the Lynch household and went to meet Noah at his house. My knuckles met the surface of the door before it opened.
"Hey, Laura! You and I are going to have a great time," Noah greeted.
"I can't wait," I said half heartedly.
{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}
We walked to Red Lobster and ate our food, chit chatting here and there. I miss Ross.
"Laura? You okay?," Noah asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I reassured him. He seemed to believe me and went back to eating his dinner.
{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}
"Noah...what are we doing here?," I asked, watching teens my age puking their guys out on the front lawn.
"You seems down. What better to cheer you up then a party?" One of Ross' hugs.
"Noah, I want to go home," I begged.
"What? Laura we haven't even gone inside yet. Give it a chance," Noah insisted. I shook my head.
"Okay, fine. I'll call you an Uber," Noah huffed, bringing his phone to his ear.
{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}
I stepped out of the Uber to meet brown hazel eyes that I've hopelessly fallen for.
"Hey," I said, sitting next to him on my porch steps.
"Hey."
"What are you doing here?," I asked.
"I just wanted to make sure you got home okay," Ross spoke, standing up.
"Ross, wait," I said, pulling him back down to sit beside me.
"You and I need to talk. Ross I was going to say I love you too," I finally told him.
"Wow...really? This is great. This is-we can't be together," I interrupted. His face dropped.
"Why not?," He asked, tears slipping out of his eyes. My eyes glazed over.
"The only guy I've ever been with was Andrew and he hurt me. I'm kinda seeing Noah anyways and you Ross, don't have the best luck with women. Besides, I really don't want to ruin our friendship. I can't risk losing you," I reasoned. Ross nodded sadly.
"I understand. But I'm not giving up on you. See you around, Laur," Ross spoke, kissing my forehead before leaving.
