TW: Panic attack
(Third Person POV)
Peter bolted up in his bed, breathing heavily. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. He looked around. Everything was dark. His breath quickened and he wanted to scream. But he couldn't do it.
He ripped the covers off of himself and stumbled out of bed. He walked unsteadily to the door. His hand searched for the light switch next to it. He eventually found it. He quickly flicked it on and looked around. The room was the same as always. But Peter couldn't shake the feeling that he was all alone.
He opened his door and rushed down to the bathroom. He looked at himself in the mirror. He looked terrible. Dark circles were formed around his eyes and his hair was extremely matted. He shut the door and locked it. It was completely silent, which made him feel worse.
The utter silence almost killed him. He backed up to the door and slid down to the floor, putting his knees up to his eyes. His hands were tangled in his hair and he started crying suddenly, letting out silent sobs. He just wished there was any noise. Anything at all.
His breath quickened even more and his ears started ringing. He needed someone to be there for him. But May was working a night shift as a nurse, so he had no choice but to be completely and utterly alone. Being alone was the last thing he wanted, though.
He broke out into a full panic attack. He couldn't bear the complete and utter silence. His breathing got worse by the second. Soon, he couldn't take it anymore. He began clawing at his chest just to get some air. He needed someone. Badly. But he couldn't get anyone. So he'd just have to wait for this to blow over.
Handling it though, was worse than he thought.
(Tony's POV)
I've been spending countless hours working away at the new nanotech I was designing for my suit. It was going pretty well so far. And I think I'm almost done. And thank god to that, because I need sleep at some point.
Or so Pepper tells me. But, I need this done before anything bad happens and I'm called for help.
"Boss, Peter's in trouble." FRIDAY says suddenly.
That gets my attention.
"What's wrong with him? Is he okay?" I ask, quickly stopping the progress on the new suit.
"No, he seems to be experiencing a panic attack. I suggest immediate help." FRIDAY answers.
Oh my god.
I immediately drop everything I was doing and tap my arc reactor twice. The old suit wraps around me quickly and I'm off. Once I'm outside, I fly as quick as I can to the apartment Peter calls home.
(Peter's POV)
I can barely breathe. Everything hurts like hell. My lungs are on fire. I don't know how long this will last. The feeling of being completely alone has taken over me. And it's scaring me more than ever.
I can barely deal with it. But I hate the silence. I hate that there's nothing around me. I don't want to be alone. I need someone just to assure me that I'm not alone.
I'm shaking because of the tears. I can barely see. Nor can I hear. My ears are ringing. And it gets worse by the second.
I hear knocking at the door, just barely. But I can't get myself to get up. Something is forcing me to stay down. I just need to breathe. But I cant do that either. I start to cry harder. I don't know what's happening.
The knocks become banging and I cry harder. It's probably someone trying to get in here to hurt me. Take me away from May. From everything.
(Third Person POV)
"Peter!" Tony called.
Tony can hear Peter's cries. And it kills him inside. To see the kid like that hurt him more than anything. And he would give anything, anything, to hear his voice again.
But he has to help him first.
Since the door is locked, he had no choice but to break the lock. So he does just that. And he opens the door to see Peter in front of it, shaking violently.
He gets out of his suit and quickly walks in front of him, putting his hands on Peter's shoulders. "Peter. Bud. Look at me, okay? You need to look at me."
It takes a second, but Peter looks up at Tony. And his heart shattered. Tony hated seeing the kid like this.
"That's it. Now breath with me. In and out. Watch me." And he takes an exaggerated breath in an attempt to help Peter breathe better. But, it barely helps at all.
Tony gently grabbed Peter's wrist and put it on his chest, on the opposite side of his heart. "Here. Breathe with me."
And he begins to breathe, his chest moving up and down. Peter mimics his movements, his breath going back to normal once again. He calmed down a little bit once he realized he wasn't alone. But he was still crying.
"M-Mr. Stark, I-I..." Peter started before digging his face in his knees again and crying once more. Tony couldn't help it anymore. He pulled Peter into an embrace and Peter quickly hugged back, gripping onto Tony's shirt.
Peter dug his head in the crook of Tony's neck and kept crying.
After a few moments, Peter was able to calm down. His cries died down, turning into only small sniffles. Tony was rubbing circles on the teen's back the whole time and whispering to him, trying to get him to calm down. And, it worked.
"I'm s-sorry, Mr. Stark..." Peter whispered, whimpering slightly.
"No, Pete, it's not your fault. There's nothing to worry about. I'm here now." Tony says softly.
"B-But I woke you up because of my s-stupid problems. You s-shouldn't have to worry a-about me like that." Peter responded.
"No, Peter. Your problems are not stupid. Whenever this happens, please just call me. I don't want you to be alone when you're like this." Tony answered back.
All he got back was a sniffle.
"Now are you okay to be by yourself?" Tony asks.
"NO!" Peter says, gripping him tighter.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled, I should probably go back to bed now. I-" Peter starts.
"No I'm not leaving you after that." Tony says. "Now let go, so I can bring you back to the tower."
"But Aunt May-"
"I'll call her when she's done her shift." Tony says.
Peter nods and let's go of Tony. Tony also let's go and picks Peter up. Peter hugs Tony once more and digs his face into Tony's chest, listening to the slight hum of the arc reactor.
Tony stands up and puts his suit back around himself, flying off to the tower.
Once they got there, Tony took off his suit and carried Peter to the guest room. He tried to set Peter down, but he couldn't pry his hands from around his neck.
Tony sighed, but sat on the bed nonetheless. He began to try to take Peter's hands from around his neck, but Peter just gripped on tighter, not allowing him to leave.
"What am I gonna do with you?" He asks to himself, looking down at Peter.
He lays down on the bed, Peter curling up beside him. He hugged Tony as tight as he could without choking him. And he smiled.
Tony smiled as well as he drifted off to his much-needed sleep.
