Drowning

(Peter's POV)

It all happened in a blur. I had been fighting a masked man with incredibly large metallic hands growing out of his back. I shot a web at one of the hands and threw it down to the ground. I ran towards the person, webbing their feet up. But they grabbed me with their hands and threw me down to the ground before I could do much.

I slid across the road a bit before getting back up. I got up slowly, couching a bit. It really hurt. I must've at least fractured one of my legs. But the worst thing was that my mask was ruined and I couldn't keep it on for much longer. So I had no choice but to rip it off, turning back to the person who had been looking down at me the whole time.

"I won't stop," I say in a low tone.

"Then don't." The deep, robotic voice stated.

"Will do," I respond back.

I swung back into action, swinging onto something and to near the robotic creature. They run towards me, hands reaching out for me. I shoot a web at it and attempt to break it off. But in doing so, the robot just gets closer. I jump up and swing behind them, turning and shooting yet another web, pulling its whole body down. They successfully fall and I feel as if I finally have a chance.

There are sirens above and in the distance, ready to unmask the darned thing.

I spring back into action, jumping over to the robot and onto it. I web his right metallic arm and smash it on the ground, shattering it slightly. I repeat this action a few times before it begins to spark and fall limp on your ground.

But it seems I'm too late.

The other hand grabs me and flings me up into the air, leaving me soaring over all of the other buildings. I desperately make an attempt to scream for help, but I know it'd be useless. So I just fly through the air, putting my hands over my head.

I take a deep breath right before crashing into what seems like concrete. But when I open my eyes, my vision is blurry. All around me is blue and very wide open. My whole body aches from the impact and I all of a sudden feel very cold.

I try to breathe, but my mouth gets filled with water every time. I begin to choke on the amount of water filling my mouth, not allowing me to breathe. I make an attempt to scream, but it's muffled and all I see is bubbles moving up to what seems like the surface.

I look all around me, black spots filling my vision. I eventually feel lightheaded and I see blurriness before there's nothing in my vision at all.

-----

I open my eyes and start coughing immediately, causing me to close my eyes in the process. Once I finish my coughing fit, I sit up and look around myself. I see a breathing mask in my lap and a bunch of tubes running from my arms and to the ivy bag. I'm still wearing my Spider Suit though.

I look to my right and see Bruce looking at me.

"H-Hey," I say, my voice sounding very hoarse.

"Hey, Peter, how are you feeling?" He speaks quietly, as to not disturb my headache I didn't realize I had until now. The lights are also dimmed down to probably around 45% by the looks of it.

"My head hurts," I say, looking down at my hands.

"Okay, well lay down and it'll be better soon," Bruce says, taking the breathing mask away from my lap. I obey his directions, laying back down on the titanium white bed. I sigh and look over at the TV.

"I'm really bad at my job," I say quietly. I smile weakly while watching the TV.

"This isn't your fault y'know," Bruce says, walking over to the side of the bed, taking out the tubes of ivy from my arm.

"But I feel like if I was just smarter than maybe I wouldn't have to make anybody worried. I'd be okay and I wouldn't have drowned like the stupid 'hero' I am." I say, obviously not taking Bruce's words.

"Listen, Peter. Being a hero is never going to be easy. You're never going to be perfect no matter how hard you try. You'll destroy things. The hero's you know now are not at all as perfect as you think. You just have to believe me when I say that you're always going to be an idol for people. People will still love you despite your mistakes. You're important, Peter. And people need you." Bruce spoke softly.

I smile for real this time. "Thank you, Dr. Banner."

"Anytime," Bruce says, finishing the detaching process.

"Anyway, are you ready to see your visitor?" Bruce asks.

"Yeah," I say.

Bruce walks out of the room and I wait a few seconds before coming back with Tony.
"Pete!" he says, rushing over to my side and kneeling down. He takes my hand and I hold it.

"Hey, Mr. Stark-" I say, getting cut off by arms wrapping around me quickly. I laugh weakly and wrap my arms around Tony in return. "Be careful, I'm still a little weak."

"I know, I know," Tony says, loosening his grip a little. "Never scare me like that ever again."

"I won't try to, I promise," I say, tightening my grip a little. I wait a few minutes before sighing. "Thank you, Mr. Stark."
