"Betty."
"Veronica." They both awkwardly looked at each other. "Can I see MY boyfriend." She purposely put emphasis on the 'my'. "Sure." Betty said without a care in the world. Betty ran upstairs to her bedroom. She wanted Jughead to get here. She just heard Veronica downstairs being extra 'sweet' to Archie. It would've bothered her sophomore year but now she doesn't really care. She got out her mystery novel the one Jughead gave her for her birthday and she read it sitting comfortably. She was so into it she didn't hear the knock on her door. "Come in." She yelled frustrated she never got to the end. It was Archie. "Hey." Archie said leaning on the doorframe. "Hi." Betty said closing her book. "Can I talk to you?" Archie asked closing the door. "Sure?" She said. "Have I done something Betty?" He asked. "No why would you think that?" She lied nervously biting her lower lip. "Well you have been avoiding me, you stopped visiting in the hospital and you are up here instead of downstairs with me and Veronica and we were just playing with the twins and Polly never mentioned anything about them being sick so you lied. What's going on B?" He asked with a certain sharpness in his voice. "Nothing Archie just focus on your recovery." Betty said getting up. "Hey.." he said following her. He took her hand. "You know you can tell me anything?" He asked. At this rate she wasn't sure. "Yeah." She said straining a smile but she just wanted to cry.Veronica
Veronica thought Archie took too long in the bathroom. She went upstairs and heard Archie and Betty talking. She put her ear against the door and listened to their whole conversation. She didn't know she caused this much with Betty. She didn't say to avoid him completely. She heard Archie reassure he's here for her. He's so good. Good to Betty. Good to her. Good to everyone. She paced off when she heard the door open. "Hey babe." Archie said coming back. "Hey." She said. "I need to give something to Betty I forgot." Veronica said getting up. Archie got up with her. "I can do it?" He said. "No just stay and help Polly or something. The doorbell rang. "You can get it Archiekins." She said. Veronica went up the stairs and went into Betty's room."Come in!" Betty yelled again.
"It's me B."
"What do you want?"
"Listen the reason I want you to stay away from Archie is because I was scared he would somehow find out about the accident."
"V I wouldn't do that to you."
"I know it's just terrible thinking I could go to jail and I almost killed my own boyfriend."
"Oh V come here!" Betty said. The two hugged tightly Veronica on the verge of tears. "But you need to tell him." Betty added. "I will B after tomorrow." Veronica said.Downstairs
"More visitors!" Polly said overwhelmed. "It's ok I'm not an overnight visitor." Jughead said stepping in. "Where's Betty?" He continued. Archie gestured upstairs. Jughead climbed up the stairs but heard eavesdropped on the girls' conversation. "Veronica crashed the car?" He mouthed. His body tingled with anger and betrayal. That's why she was so defensive over him. Jughead couldn't take it. "I would say hello but I just overheard everything!" He said bursting in the room. "Jug!" Betty snapped. "You crashed the car Veronica?" He hissed. Veronica nodded in shame and guilt. "Why?!" He said. "We were drunk and wanted to take the car out for a joyride and I crashed into a lamp post." Veronica sobbed. "And you knew Betty?" He said ashamed. "Yes but not for long." She said trying to persuade him. "How long have you known?" He asked folding his arms. "Two days.." she said. Jughead shook his head at both of them. "I can't deal with this either you both tell Archie now or I'll tell him!" Jughead firmly said. "Tell me what?" Archie said coming in and joining the conversation. After a long pause Veronica stammered. "I caused the accident." She said. "What?" He said. "I- well we were drunk and crashed the car into a lamp post." She explained. "And you were planning to keep that a secret?" Archie snapped. "No we-!" Archie cut her off. "Who the hell's we?!" He yelled. Archie's eyes swivelled to Betty. "That's why you two were arguing. Betty you knew?!" Archie asked. "I can't stand to look at any of you right now." He said. "Come on bro let's go to mine." Jughead said. They stormed out in unison. "Betty I-."
"No V I'm sorry but I'm going to ask you to leave." Betty said rubbing her temples. Veronica didn't argue she just left. Betty was left in her room sobbing uncontrollably. Polly ran up. No words were spoken but she pulled her in for a hug. Betty sobbed into her sister's shoulder meanwhile..Pops
"Hey Pop can we get two burger meals and two vanilla milkshakes." Jughead said sighing. Once they got their order they sat in the booth the core four usually would sit in. "How could Betty do that." Jughead ranted whilst Archie stirred his milkshake and finally he answered with a shrug. "Don't blame Betty, Veronica should've taken responsibility for her actions despite how I would feel." Archie answered. "But Betty-." Jughead continued. "She didn't crash the car she just kept one hell of a secret." Archie said. "Oh the irony we are blaming our significant others." Jughead said laughing. Archie joined him. After a couple hours of them talking they made up their minds. "You're right for once, I think I might make up with Betty." Jughead said sipping the last bit of his milkshake. "Good but it's not the same with Veronica." Archie said. "Yeah let's go to Betty's house!" Jughead said paying for the meal. "Nah I'm tired I think I'm gonna head home." Archie replied rubbing his eyes. "Fair enough I'll just give you a ride." Jughead said. "I hate that motorcycle." Archie muttered. Jughead just laughed. As they drove off the Elm's street..The Pembroke
"Archiekins I'm so sorry I didn't know how to tell you please just call me back after you got this message." Veronica left dozens of messages but after every try each ring got more and more pointless as Archie declined everything. She sighed. She had to take matters into her own hands. She got dressed and drove to Elm's street.
Betty's house
"Betty get the door!" Polly yelled as she sipped her hot chocolate. "Why are you always drinking something hot?" Betty said laughing as she entered the living room. "It's winter do you expect me to have an ice cream?" Polly replied rolling her eyes but giggled with her all the same. The knocking got more aggressive. Betty went to open the door. "Jug?" Betty asked even though it was clear it was him. "We need to talk.." He said.
