AN: if you don't know what the purge is, it's a show/movie about one night in the year where all crimes are legal for 24 hours (in the US)
Tony hated this night. He thought it was just a stupid decision of the government. Every year he flew around in his iron man suit to help innocent people on the streets. But this year was different.
This year he was in a relationship with Steve.
Steve hated the idea of the purge as well. He came out of war and thought he wouldn't see bad things like that again but he has to. One night of the year. He would usually spend the night with the other avengers in the living room of the tower, with the security being placed at every door.

Steve was reading a newspaper while drinking coffee when Tony suddenly hugged him from behind and kissed his cheek. "Oh hi there"he smiled and let his boyfriend sit down next to him.
Suddenly Steve sighed heavily.
"It's tonight right?"
Tony looked down at his hands and swallowed. "Yea"
"Will you go on the streets?"Steve asked and made eye contact with his lover.
Tony responsed with a nod and Steve rested his forehead against his.
"C-Can't you stay at home.. make a movie night.. and like-"
"Steve we've talked about it. I won't sit here and see innocent people die or getting tortured on the TV"he explained and cupped the blonde's cheek.
"But I cannot let anything happen to you.."he mumbled.
"Come on. I am Iron Man"Tony grinned.
"Right, and the people who go purging are crazy"Tony rolled his eyes.
"I'm gonna be okay"he gave Steve a quick kiss and looked behind him at the clock. "Come on we have two hours left to maybe play a little"he winked at Steve and pulled him upstairs to their bedroom.
[almost two hours later]
Tony pulled the shirt over his head and went to the living room with Steve by his side. He stopped at a small desk with lots of different buttons.
"Okay this one closes the windows and all doors okay, this one calls the security up here if something goes wrong and this one opens the weapon closet"Tony explained and Steve nodded.
"JARVIS get me a suit up here"
He warped his arms around Steve's neck who warped his around the other's waist.
"Please be careful.. you know some of these people could be our haters and see this as a chance to clear us out of the way, and expect purgers on the top of the roofs-"he shut up when Tony kissed him gently. "I am Iron Man remember?"
"Oh yeah right"Steve smirked and rolled his eyes.
They went up to the landing field. Tony's suit has arrived by now and he suited up while Steve stared at him. "Time?"
The captain looked at his watch and counted.
"3..2..1"
And there were they. The sirens that everyone in the US would hear by now. "Show time i guess"Tony sighed, gave Steve a simple 'i love you' and flew off the building.
In the same night he came back with some injuries but he had saved more than 50 people from beinh brutally murdered.
