Once again Steve was the first one to wake up. He went into the kitchen to make breakfast and suddenly remembered what day it was. 4th of July.
He chuckled at the thought that he is exactly 97 already. He expected the other avengers to maybe get him some gifts and surprise him like they did on everyone's birthday.
But when the others walked into the kitchen they all just kept talking about what they're gonna do for 4th of July.
"They're probably gonna remember later"steve thought but even when they all finished breakfast he didn't even get a happy birthday from anyone.
He made the dishes with a frustrated look on his face. His friends already left for any festivals but he decided to stay at home. Friends? Huh? He never forgot anyone's birthday and always got them some nice presents. He sighed and turned the TV on to watch a movie.
Suddenly he felt someone hugging him from behind. He turned around to see someone he hadn't seen in days. Tony. He had spent the last days down in his lab. Anyway, the billionaire hugged him tightly and mumbled a soft "Happy Birthday Cap"
Steve's eyes light up and he smiled as the brunette jumped next to him on the couch. "Looking good for 97 years"he smirked and placed a gift on Steve's lap.
"Thank you Tony"
the soldier smiled widely and carefully opened the present to see a tablet in his lap. He raised his eyebrow at Tony who smiled and started explaining.
"You like drawing right?"Steve nodded slowly. "And you said you wanted to get used to the new technology?" Again Steve answered with a nod. "Right so on here i made a program for you to draw look just click here.. then here.. and bam"he opened a app and a white screen appeared. Then he handed his friend a weird looking pen. Steve looked at it confused which caused Tony to giggle.
He took Steve's hand gently and guided it to the different settings. He chose a colour and and drew a wrote "happy bday" on the white screen.
Steve looked fascinated before he tried it himself. And after a few seconds he had drawn a beautiful picture. He smiled at Tony and thanked him politely.
"So what did the others get you?"the inventor asked. "Oh well.. about that-"
"Oh my.. did they forget?"Tony asked in a shocked tone and got once again a nod as response.
"I'm so sorry Steve"
"It's okay, I'm used to this. Bucky was the only one who remembered my birthday every year and he never got me something so nice as you did"he gave him a sad smile.
"No Steve it's not okay. Remember you took Romanoff out to the cinema on her birthday, you asked me to make you arrows so you could give them to Barton on his, and what about Bruce? You cleaned his lab for a week. Not to forget the arc reactor you drew on and gave me for my birthday. This is not fair"
Steve raised his eyebrow. He never knew that Tony cared so much about him. To be honest after these words he felt butterflies in his stomach. "I'm gonna make it up to you. We're going wherever you wanna go and I'll pay"
"Like a date?"Steve smirked and Tony nodded with a slight blush on his face.
"If you want it to be one.."
"Great! We're having a date"Steve said and kissed his friend's cheek as he stood up. "I'll pick you up in two hours"he smiled and left Tony, who felt his cheeks heating up, in the living room.
[later that day]
"Where are you two going?"Bruce asked as he saw Steve and Tony walking next to eachother in the direction of the elevator. "Oh I'm taking him out for his birthday"he glared at the team and everyone looked at him in shock. "Oh my god Steve I'm so-"Nat began but got interrupted by Tony.
"Not now we're busy. You idiots better think about something to make this up while we're gone"Tony said as he grabbed Steve's hand and dragged him into the elevator.
