Steve opened his eyes. The light was stitchy so he closed them again.
The last thing he remembered was an explosion. He must be in the hospital.
He felt someone holding his hand and smiled. Tony.
He turned his head to see the brunette next to him.
All of a sudden Tony got up and.. talked to him. But Steve could only see him moving his lips.
He was sure it would fade soon.
After thirty seconds where it didn't fade his eyes filled with tears.
Why couldn't he hear?
Tony realized and probably asked him what's wrong.
Steve sat up and looked around himself. He spotted a paper and a pen on some desk and pointed to it.
Tony got the message and brought it to him.
I cannot hear you
He wrote shakily.
Tony thought for a moment and then gave Steve a sad smile.
The blonde knew what that meant and let the tears fall.
[ 2 years later ]
'hello'Steve signed and yawned as he walked walked into the workshop.
Of course he was rented from being captain america, but he was still part of the team. Natasha taught everyone sign-language, Clint turned on subtitles on every TV in the tower and Bruce and Tony worked on a solution everyday. Since 2 years.
Steve gave up. He didn't think he was ever gonna hear again but he got used to it.
'hello baby'Tony signed with his hands and Steve walked towards him. The blonde placed Tony on his lap and burried his face into Tony's back.
'i miss you'
'i know baby i'll be back upstairs soon i just need to finish this'
Steve smiled. He loved when Tony signed 'baby'.
He cuddled more into his back and gave it a small kiss.
'what are those'Steve signed as he looked at the two white things that almost looked like airpods.
'your new hearing aids, i promise this time they work. I added some nano-tech to it now that we have that it got much easier'
Steve just looked down sadly.
He knew Tony was trying so hard to make Steve happy but Steve already gave up and this just reminded him everyday that he was deaf.
'please'Tony gave him puppy eyes.
'okay'Steve answered and sighed.
He took the two bots and put them into his ears. Steve just rolled his eyes.
Tony clicked some random button.

Steve wouldve answered but he was way too busy wiping his tears away.
He couldn't wipe them all so he just laughed between them in pure happiness.
He heard Tony whispering sweet things to him, the machines in the workshop humming and some music playing in the background.
He was overhelmed.
"t-thank you"he cried into Tony's chest.
"shh you're okay now shh you're welcome darling"
"i love you so much"Steve heard himself saying and Tony just hugged him tighter.
