Chapter-15: Runaway

"You know things get better if you, even for a moment take a step back from it."

"And then what for the next few days we pretend it never happened?" she retaliated at his stubbornness.

"NO" he slightly raised his voice in frustration making her raise her eyebrow at him, a smirk evident on her face.

"Already tired of me." pleasure clear in her language.

"No but you're so damn hard to please."

"I'm not Jb. It's just the fact that I find your intention very absurd." She countered while pointing her finger at him. "Also, when my sister is in distress all you can think about is a getaway." Nora breathes out forcefully.

"So you're saying she'll feel alright if you breathe up her neck." She slightly froze at his words and soon a guilty smile spread on her face.

Jb took a hold of her face and gave her a chaste kiss.

"You looked too adorable." His words made her roll her eyes but the smile never left her face.

"So where are we going?"

Someone like Jinyoung who always has his life organized and stable, a person like Zoey was nothing but trouble for him and now if he looks back he knows Mark Tuan was somebody everyone should've been worried about.

"Don't you dare Mark" Zoey's voice was loud and dominating as she looked around for any sign of intrusion.

"Or what sweetheart" those words were would've have sounded as if it was a lover's quarrel but when Zoey took a trembling step back it was enough for Jinyoung to know it was far from Lover's fight.

"You won't get away with it, at least not this time." Mark's hand trembled with what Jinyoung thought was anger.

"And you think you could easily get away with it." he brutally took a hold of her arm and Jinyoung was ready to jump in between them but Zoey was quick enough to snatch her arm from his grasp.

"I don't care about what happens to me as long as you pay for It." she was about to leave but Mark violently turned her, holding her by her neck.

Jinyoung knew he should've jumped in there, taken Zoey with him but he was too shocked as well as curious to react.

He was sure things won't take a nasty turn because one, Zoey had a smirk on her face and two, he could always contact the police before the worst could take place.

"Do whatever you want" Mark finally says, "Just don't ever forget even in your brightest of days you will never get rid of me." Jinyoung frowned at his words.

Was he being paranoid?

It looked like a lovers' quarrel to him.

His thoughts were broken when Zoey pushed him away and his hands landed on his sides. Both men watched Zoey make a run for her life.

"Babe, stop running around." Mark's lively words echoed through the hall.

Jinyoung took a step forward when Mark was out of sight. Shaking his head little he decided to walk home.


"Lovers' quarrel huh!" He whispered at the recollection of the memory.

For Zoey things weren't going as planned. Her head was still wrapped around the event. More around the fact that she had no recollection or whatsoever of the night and then there was this unsettling feeling that she refused to believe.
