They all sat in Eddie's room until they heard Sonia leave again. Richie didn't want to leave Eddie all alone, but he knew his friends wouldn't let him stay. That didn't stop him from staying behind while everyone else started to leave.

"Rich?" Stan asked as he watched Richie stand in the corner of the room while they all left and walked down the stairs.

"Give me a minute," Richie said.

Stan looked between Richie and Eddie for a second before sighing and vanishing down the stairs.

"Are your windows locked?" Richie asked as soon as he and Eddie were alone.

"Yes," Eddie responded, walking over to the window and pulling back the shade.

On the outside of the window was a lock, but Richie could tell that Bev would be able to pick it. He noticed how Eddie tried to stay in the darker part of the room, out of the way of the light the window offered.

"Are you allergic to light or something?" Richie asked with a chuckle.

Eddie rolled his eyes. "No. I just don't want people to see me," he said, grabbing a bottle of pills off the shelf. He opened the bottle and dry swallowed three different colored pills.

"Why do you take them?" Richie asked, his mind drifting from what he had meant to ask.

"If I don't then she takes my books and things I actually enjoy away. I can't do much because I'm chained in this fucking room. I could easily fight back, but if I did, she might not let me eat," Eddie mumbled.

Richie walked toward Eddie cautiously. His heart ached for the demon-boy, who seemed upset with his current situation but too scared to do anything about it.

Eddie looked up at Richie as he inched forward. He backed away nervously, but didn't react when Richie held out his arms and pulled Eddie into a hug.

"I'm sorry your life sucks, Eddie," Richie said in a small voice, smiling as Eddie loosely wrapped his arms around Richie. "I'll find a way to unlock your window and leave you food."

"You don't have to-"

"I know I don't. Don't worry, Eds. We'll figure this out."

Eddie pulled away and looked up at him, his brown eyes narrowed. "Why are you not scared of me?"

Richie shrugged. "You're not scary."

"I could kill you."

"You won't."

Eddie grumbled under his breath, knowing Richie was right. He didn't know much about the curly haired boy who broke into his house, but he knew that he liked being around him. He wanted to follow him outside of the house he had been trapped in his whole life.

So, it made him lower his head and fight back the feeling of sadness when Richie hugged him once more before walking toward the door to the room. He didn't like the feeling. It wasn't a common one for him, since he didn't know anyone except Sonia up to that point, and he hated her.

Richie turned and saw how upset Eddie was, how he stared at the ground and wrapped his wings around himself.

"I'll come back, Eds. Don't worry," Richie said with a smile.

Eddie blushed, but it was hard to see in the already red glow of the room. "Don't call me that, Rich."

"I don't know, Eds. I think you secretly like it."

"Do not!" Eddie exclaimed, glaring at Richie.

Richie winked at him. "See ya tomorrow, Eds."

Despite the shitty nickname, Eddie couldn't help but smile. He peeked out his window and watched as the losers made their way down the street. The sun was setting overhead, and Richie was glowing in the colors.

"He's pretty," Eddie muttered to himself, thankful that Richie wasn't in there to hear him.

Eddie sat in his room, humming to himself joyfully until he heard the front door open. Sonia's heavy footsteps echoed through the house, up the stairs. She opened the door without knocking, placing another bottle of pills on the shelf without looking at Eddie.

"Uh, mom?" Eddie asked uncertainly. He knew Sonia hated him, but he needed to ask his question.

Sonia turned to look at him, surprised. In all her time caring for Eddie, he hardly ever addressed her unless she spoke first.

"Yes?" she asked, crossing her arms. She had no idea whether to be angry or not.

"I, uh, I was wondering when I could leave? I know how to make myself appear human, and I-"

"No. You're not leaving," Sonia snapped, glaring at the boy.

Eddie tried to stay calm. He didn't want to burst out in anger, like he always did. That was just part of his demon nature.

"I could keep it under control."

"No, you can't. You're a demon, and demons are too dangerous to be in the real world. Who's to say what could happen if someone pissed you off? You could lose control and kill them."

"I won't!"

Sonia shook her head. "Yes, you will."

Eddie snarled at her and kicked out his leg, the chain cutting into his skin. He ignore the pain and flew up to his bar, glaring at her.

"I'm trying to keep you safe, Eddie."

"No you're not! You hate me because I was born a demon! It's not my fault!" Eddie yelled at her, tears dripping down his cheeks. He pulled his wings around himself, crying quietly, trying not to show how upset he was.

"Come down here and take your pills."

Eddie glared at her, and Sonia could feel the anger radiating off the boy. "I don't want them," Eddie snapped, crossing his arms.

"You need to take them."

Eddie shook his head. He raised his hand and threw all of the bottles off of the shelf with his powers. They all opened and pills spread everywhere, shocking Sonia. Eddie had never used his powers in her presence before, and if he had, it was on accident.

Sonia rolled her eyes and began to walk over to Eddie's bookshelf, taking his books away. She walked over to the door, but it was shut. She saw Eddie's hand raised, keeping the door closed.

"Open the door, Eddie," she snapped.

"I can feel your fear," Eddie said, leaping off the bar and landing on the ground in front of his mom. "You're afraid of me."

"You're a demon, and you're never leaving this place. Let go, now."

Eddie shook his head. "I could kill you if I wanted."

"You won't. Even with all of your evil tendencies, you won't hurt anyone."

Eddie snarled and lunged at his mother, using his powers to slam her into the wall. She laid against the wall, grabbing her leg in pain as her son walked over to her, his eyes glowing red.

"You don't know me," he hissed, grabbing the chain. His anger seemed to be overwhelming the pills that took away his powers, and he ripped the chain from the wall where it was stuck. "And you have no idea what I'm capable of."

"You're going to kill someone. Demons don't know how to feel love or any form of compassion. You will kill anyone who tries to help you!"

Eddie snarled, pulling back the chain and slamming it into his mothers face. She fell to the ground, unconscious. As his anger faded, Eddie realized what he had done. His demonized personality had overcame him and took control. His mother was unconscious because of him.

Eddie's eyes faded back to brown as he sprinted down the stairs and called the hospital. He quickly gave the address before running to his mom's room and grabbing the key to the cuff on his ankle . Once he was free, Eddie ran to the backyard, opening his wings and flying away.
