The gods of idiocy had been egging you on since this morning. Honestly, you were well aware of how dangerous it would be to go into the basement. You've done stupid stuff before and this would just about top everything. That's why you had told yourself that no matter how helpful it would be, you wouldn't go down there. But someone watching from above literally gave you the golden opportunity to go through with this and not get yourself in trouble. You awoke this morning only to find out that both Jimin's parents and he, himself, were going to be out for half the day.

"Work business, dear. Sangmin wants to spend some quality time bonding with Jimin alone, too. We shouldn't be too long," Jiyeon had told you.

And now here you were, currently descending the stairs from the second floor, on your way towards the basement. It had been almost an hour since Jimin and his parents left and you waited until now just in case they suddenly came back. You hadn't seen anyone since then, not even Eleanor, so you were feeling pretty safe with this plan. Walking down the hallway was a very cautious process. You walked as lightly as you could to make as little noise as possible. The more you thought about it, however, vampires could probably hear you no matter how quiet you were trying to be so your efforts were probably futile. Regardless, you continued treading carefully.

When you made it to the basement door, you had to quickly yet quietly undo all the latches and bolts. To your luck, this door surprisingly didn't have any locks that required keys. Considering the secrecy of the content down there and how hard Jimin's parents tried to keep you and their son away from here, you would've expected there to be at least one. But again, that wasn't your problem. In fact, it worked to your advantage and only made it easier to get down there. You wouldn't complain.

Once everything was done, you pulled the door open and shivered as an unpleasant chill ran down your spine. Glancing down the hallway, you weren't sure whether you were relieved no one had found you or if you were disappointed due to the dreadful feeling of having to go down these stairs. But you had made it this far and backing out now would be...well, you couldn't say it would be stupid because it would be smart, actually. It would make all of this effort go to waste. Yeah, that's it.

The first few steps left you feeling scared shitless. It also didn't help that it was much darker down here, only a few dim lights on the walls keeping you from being in complete darkness. The staircase spiralled down, leading you further to your imminent death. Well, that would only be true if Jiyeon and Sangmin found out you came down here. When you finally reached the bottom, there was a hallway stretching out in front, a fairly narrow one at that. Two people could easily walk side by side but that was about it. Suddenly you were feeling a bit claustrophobic.

"God, I'm so dumb," you grumbled to yourself.

Despite how careful your steps were, in your ears your footsteps were echoing loudly, bouncing off the brick walls. You were almost certain one of the maids would be done here at any moment. It was only after walking for another few moments that you realized how quiet it was down here. If offerers really were here, were they actually alive? The silence was so burdening your ears had begun to ring.

"Who's there?" a voice called out quietly and you almost jumped out of your skin. It sounded almost as if someone had whispered right into your ear.

"Hello?" you called back softly. "Is someone down here?"

After taking a couple more steps, you noticed metal bars to your left. Your gaze immediately fell to the hands gripping the bars, bony and pale.

"Who are you?" a different voice asked.

You stopped in front of the bars and couldn't help but let your mouth drop open. Inside this cell were at least ten girls. They all had matted hair, oily skin and sunken in eyes. Their clothes were ratty and didn't do a good job of conserving these poor girls' dignities. Their once dull eyes had suddenly filled with hope after seeing you. A few of the others hobbled and crawled to the bars, trying to get a closer look at you.
