"Are you close with all of the other workers?" you asked, curious.
"Some of them. Everyone is nice to me but those who aren't my friends are probably only acting like that out of pity," Eleanor wrote in response.
"Well, at least they aren't being rude or anything," you replied. "Kind of a bummer that your healing powers only go so far."
Eleanor nodded. "Brain damage is just too complicated. Maybe someday in the far future vampires will evolve to be able to deal with it."
"I think humans would be more inclined to work with vampires, too."
"Maybe. Or they might just capture us and treat us like some lab rat used for experiments. If we can heal from anything then it's not like anything they do to us would be long-lasting."
"Wow, this became super depressing. Let's talk about something else," you frowned.
Eleanor giggled silently. "You've been talking a lot today. I assume everything went well last night?"
"Yup! From now on we're gonna work together to solve our problems. Ignoring isn't beneficial for either of us," you answered.
"It was about the basement, wasn't it? You guys had been talking about it before I left your room the day Jimin started acting cold."
"Yes," you replied reluctantly. "We both wanted to handle it a different way."
"As I already said, it's nothing dangerous, believe me."
"I know, it wasn't about that. Jimin still worries about that, though," you said, beginning to feel uncomfortable. You didn't want to keep talking about this in case you let something slip out.
Eleanor stared at you for awhile, eyes unfocused. It seemed like she was thinking about something. "Do you trust my word?"
Tilting your head in confusion, you raised an eyebrow. "Yeah?"
Eleanor swallowed audibly while writing with a shaky hand. "You cannot let Mrs. Kim know I told you this. I'm begging you. Jimin can know but he, too, can't tell her."
"I promise," you replied breathlessly, heart pounding in your chest.
"The offerers are down there."
"What?"
"That's all I can say. I'm sorry."
Before you could stop her, Eleanor tucked her notepad and pencil into a pouch and scurried out of the kitchen and down the hall. This wasn't what you had expected to be down there but the more you thought about it, the more you realized it was probably true. You haven't noticed any offerers since you arrived and Sangmin and Jiyeon certainly had them. The question was why would they be kept in the basement? Were they crazy? Did they like Jimin? Or was it simply just to leave the house less crowded during yours and Jimin's visit?
"I need to tell Jimin about this," you mumbled to yourself.
Putting the plate you had been eating from in the dishwasher, you ran out of the room and took a sharp, left turn. What you hadn't expected was to run right into another body, sending you tumbling to the floor. Before your ass could make contact with it, a hand reached out and grabbed you by the wrist.
"Oh my goodness, dear, where on earth are you going in such a hurry?" Jiyeon exclaimed.
"A-Ah, I was about to go look for Jimin," you stuttered as the woman helped you up onto your feet.
"My, you must need to tell him something important. I believe he was in Sangmin's office earlier. Sangmin had to go out for work business but Jimin was taking care of some stuff for him here at home," Jiyeon supplied.
