These days still seemed surreal to Kakashi. For years, he had no one; he would come home to an empty apartment, eat alone, and read until he finally fell asleep. Now, he was in bed with his wife, who had been laboring for hours now, awaiting the arrival of the newest Hatake.
Mizuka was glowing, even with her cheeks flushed from the labor. She breathed in and out, keeping the pain under control as Kakashi whispered words of encouragement to her softly.
"I have to push."
She spread her legs and held onto her thighs, bearing down.
"You've got this, Beautiful."
After pushing for a few mintues, Kakashi could see white hair crowning. He hasn't gotten to see this the first time, since Sakumaru was a water birth. She let a painful scream out as her body expelled the newborn into Kakashi's arms. He scooped the fluid from the baby's mouth. The newborn let out a cry as well; the most beautiful cry he had heard since Sakumaru was born. He quickly wrapped the newborn into the fluffy towel, but not before checking the gender.
"You were right, Z. It's a girl."
The baby continued to cry as he fluffed her hair with the towel. She opened her eyes and Kakashi could feel his breath escape his body. She had steel gray eyes. His steel gray eyes. The same as her brother. It was like she was staring into his soul, already stealing his heart.
"Kakashi?"
He looked up at his wife, who was giggling at him, even half a minute after giving birth.
"She's got you already, huh?"
"Oh, sorry."
He passed the newborn to her mother, who looked at her with eyes full of love.
"Hey, baby girl. Welcome to the world, my Love."
She kissed the baby tenderly on the forehead as Kakashi turned his focus back to Mizuka to deliver the placenta. It came out in its entirety a moment later; Mizuka didn't even seem to notice, she was so focused on the baby that was now suckling at her breast.
Putting a fresh towel between her legs to catch any blood, Kakashi took the placenta and used towels out to the kitchen, putting the placenta in a bowl and putting it in the refrigerator. That was something Mizuka would have to deal with later. He placed the towels in the sink before heading back to his beautiful bride.
Laying down next to Mizuka, he watched mother and child as they bonded for the first time, both gazing at each other. Kakashi reached over and placed gently fingers on the baby's fine white hair. Her eyes rolled back sleepily as she shut her eyes slowly.
"You make beautiful children, Mizuka."
He kissed his wife on the forehead. She giggled again.
"We make beautiful children, Kakashi-kun. These kids look exactly like you. They're perfect."
Kakashi put his face next to her shoulder, kissing it. Even after 7 hours of labor, she was perfect as well. He touched her deflated belly, feeling its new puffiness. Half an hour ago, his beautiful daughter was still in there. And now he finally got to meet her.
"Have you thought of a name, Kakashi?'
"Uhhh...."
He hadn't. He had been so excited about her arrival that picking a name never crossed his mind. Mizuka reached a hand over, ruffling his messy hair.
"I think I've got one that would be perfect. Kaori. After you, Kakashi. Your own namesake."
Kaori.
Tears began to flow down his cheeks, dripping down the bridge of his nose.
"Oh my god..."
He had a namesake. He, who had been labeled a cold blooded killer, must've done something right in his life to have the most incredible woman in the world name their perfect daughter for him.
"Thank you, Mizuka."
He laid there for another minute before checking the towel between her legs. She looked raw, but not torn.
"Come up here, Daddy. Come lay down with us."
He looked up, grinning. They were a beautiful sight. He laid down next to Mizuka and Kaori, watching her suckle at her mother's breast. He was totally in love with her already. He placed his finger in her tiny grip, watching over the women that he loved the most in the entire universe.
