Basil and Lily are two siblings who are constantly trying to protect their relationship. On most days, Lily was dragging her feet, following her older brother. Although the sound of her feet, scraping against the ground annoyed him, he never complained. Well, maybe sometimes he did..."Would you knock it off?" He grits his teeth as they make their way through the compound.
"Knock what off?" She smirks, looking at Basil's feet for guidance.
"You know what." He argues. Basil didn't typically lose his composure, unless it was to his sister. He acted more of a child and let lose. "You're so abrasive."
"Abra- what?" She furrows her brow in confusion. Lily was forced to learn a good deal of 'big' words due to her brother. He was always using words that she had to later look up and remember, which was awfully tiredsome for a five-year-old child.
"Look it up." He replies like usual. "Anyways, stop dragging your feet like that. The sound is annoying and you're kicking up dust."
She rolls her eyes, "I don't wanna go home. I'm not in the mood to hear the old geezer."
"That old geezer is our grandfather. Yet you still wonder why he hates you?" Basil shoots.
"'Cause I'm not boring like you?" She shoots back.
Basil sighs, a small hint of a smile forming on his face. "Can't you atleast try? To be like..."
"You?" Lily raises a brow, "I'm not you. I wanna be like mom. She's happy and strong. Even if that makes grandfather hate her."
"He doesn't just hate her because she's happy. He hates her because she's an impure Yoshida, thus making his grandchildren impure." Basil repeats only what his grandfather told him.
"Impure?" Lily repeats, messing with the fabric at the back of Basil's collar.
"She's only half Yoshida. Her mom is from the Leaf." Basil shrugs, not quite understanding all of it himself. He didn't understand why it mattered if someone was a full Yoshida or not.
"I hate that man." Lily mumbles, ignoring the newfound information.
"Geez, you could atleast react, y'know." Basil says as they stop at the front porch of their house. It was huge and there was always something to do. That something to do was training.
"Oh wow, how scandalous!" Lily exlaims, everso sarcastically.
They take their shoes off and as soon as they enter they are greeted by their grandfather.
"Kill me now..." Lily mumbles under her breath and Basil elbows her in the rib. "Hello, grandfather." She begrudgingly says with Basil.
"Basil, let's go. We need to begin your training for the day." He says, placing a cold hand on Basil's stiff shoulder. Then he looks at Lily, who freezes under his gaze, "You best be getting to your training session, child."
She nods curtly and makes her way to the training room she is always in for atleast four hours of her day. Ironically, it was one of her favorite parts of the day.
When she slides the door open, she shakily dodges a kunai, which digs into the hallway behind her. "What the- You could've killed me!" She snaps at the man inside.
