Gaara wouldn't go back to Sand for another two days. He chose to spend those days in the hospital, sitting on the window sill. His mere presence was a form of comfort. His siblings would also pop in every once in a while. They were a lot of fun to be around and I became more comfortable around them. Shikamaru too, visited frequently. He was here almost as much as Gaara. Lastly, Sakura would alternate between Naruto and I. Her eyes were red and gloomy, but she forced a smile."Basil, you don't have to do this, I'm fine," I scowled at my brother as he tossed a second blanket over me.
He moved some hair off my shoulder, becoming annoyed with it being everywhere. He even offered to cut it for me, which I rejected. I personally didn't mind the 'I never had a hair cut in my life' style.
"Shut up and let me take care of you," he snapped. The Sand siblings and Shikamaru all sweat dropped at Basil's impatient and unorthodox method of nursing.
He handed me a glass of water and flicked the side of my head with his fingers when I tried to refuse. Basil's way of taking care of me was not letting me move, scolding me when I did, or insulting me when I refused help. Talk about brotherly love...
"Ow," I rubbed the sore area, taking a sip of the water. I handed him back the glass of water and proceeded to punch him in the shoulder. "Is this what you consider taking care of me?"
"Well maybe if you weren't so damn stubborn all the time," he complained, not even reacting to my punch. "Also, I'd hit you back if you weren't injured."
"Like you could," I scoffed, "imbecile."
"We both know I could, short stack," he shot. "Just let me tend to you and stop being such a jackass. Damn, can't do shit in the Leaf without hearing your ass complain."
"Alright fine then," I crossed my arms across my chest. Everyone knew me too well to think I would just drop it. "Make me a sandwhich, b—."
"Your dad," he quipped.
"My dad? No your dad," I shot back. Who cares? Our Dad could be a real di... dinosaur.
"Don't they have the same dad?" Kankuro furrowed his brows, completely flummoxed by our scene. "I'm confused..."
"Yeah... I," Shikamaru was at a loss for words. Typically he was used to it, but this was a bit more than he could normally chew.
"Ungrateful ass," Basil grumbled, walking out. He let out a whole new string of words that not even I have ever used. Remember when I wondered who had the worse swearing habit? It was definitely Basil.
"You guys are-," Temari started, but never finished because Basil walked back in. He crossed his arms and sighed.
"Veggies only?" he inquired, raising a brow. Gaara was amused by the situation. Everyone else though had a major eye twitch.
I thought for a moment, "... yes, please."
"I'll be back," he said. "And don't move for anything. Nara, you're on Lily watch."
"I hate that job," Shikamaru drawled. I stuck my tongue out at him and he smirked.
"Love you!" I called to Basil.
"Yeah, yeah, me too," he grumbled lowly making his way out.
"Sheesh, you guys swear more than sailors," Kankuro always commented on our language. It never seized to amaze him.
"We picked it up from our riot of an uncle," I shrugged casually. "His mouth was much worse."
"It gets worse than that?" Temari stared incredulously, still unsure of what had just happened. All of then knew Basil could have a prickly attitude, but they didn't know it was accompanied by a filthy mouth.
