I stood near my sink, drinking water. Peacefully. In my other hand I had a letter that was adressed to Basil. The boy merely looked at it and handed it to me, nonchalant as ever. He didn't seem the slightest bit concerned about the contents the letter contained. I however, read it over and over again. The letter was in my father's hand-writing:Son, I hope this letter finds you in good health. For you will need it for the wrath you will face from the Yoshida Clan. I see you have been tainted by the ideas of the Leaf. Now even the Leaf wants you. Whther you choose to live your youth there or here, you are the heir of the Yoshida clan and will cary out that duty. But, I'll humour this fatuous desire of yours. I'll even be generous with your deadline. You have three months to choose. Make the right choice.
The old man hadn't even been bothered to mention me. Not that I cared, that father-daughter ship sank around six years ago.
It's been around two months. Basil had grown accustomed to the Leaf. At first, he was hesitant, but now he was okay. The old Basil was coming back to me. He shared witty remarks and cheeky smirks. More so, he was carefree. Something that he wasn't even when we were children. Here, he had the liberty to be himself, not some statue.
Many ANBU and Jonin saw him fight. They heard he was my brother and wanted him to stay. Not just because of his skills, but because he protected this village and it's people. Kakashi personally vouched for him and that had sealed the deal. He was offered a position as a ninja. It broke the final barrier for Basil. He had been touched that the Leaf cared so much for its people. Still, he hadn't chosen because the only thing holding him back was Clem.
"Lily," I threw my glass of water, this time the Uchiha caught it in his hand. "Could you stop throwing glass cups at me?"
"Could you learn how to use a damn door?" I snarled at the Uchiha who had slipped in through my kitchen window yet again. "What do you even want? Don't you have a tree to glare at?"
He rolled his eyes, "Can't I come visit you, my friend?"
"Cut the crap," I said.
Sasuke opened my fridge and took out a tomato from my fridge, "The tomatos you grow are better than the ones at the market." He sure knew how to make himself at home without being told. He sat down on the counter beside me as I leaned against it. He took a bite out of his tomato.
"You know, Blondie and Sakura usually come vist to be good friends," I said, "not steal my food."
"Liar, you have no ramen 'cause of that dobe," he called me out. Then he spotted the paper in my hand, "What's that you're worrying over?"
"Here nosy," I placed the hand in his free hand. He rolled his eyes and began to scan the paper.
"Well your Father seems just swell," he said ironically.
"Yes, the most kindest man in the world," I sighed, running my hand through my hair. "Enough of my family troubles, what's been bothering you?"
He shook his head and I nudged his knee with my elbow, "C'mon, this is our thing. You break into my house. I throw a glass at you. You steal my food. Then we share our troubles." It really was our thing for it has happened more than one occasion now.
"I was useless, Lily," he uttered. "Sakura was almost crushed to death and I couldn't do a damn thing. I couldn't help anyone or even myself. Then, Naruto swoops in and saves the day. He was able to beat Gaara and I wasn't."
Gaara. The Sand and the Leaf were able to
make ammends. Orochimaru had killed the Kazekage and impersonated him. The Sand Ninja were only following orders, so we did not totally hold them accountable. Now we worked to build our friendship again. More missions with Sand were set. Even we had a small mission with Gaara. I hadn't spoken to him, just stared."Don't say that about yourself," I said. "Sasuke, you can't be perfect all the time. Besides, you and Blondie need to out do one another every once and a while. That's how you two grow."
"I need to get stronger," he was adamant. "I have to..." I was concerned for him. He was always glaring at Naruto's back. He was becoming more impatient everyday and I didn't want him to up and leave over revenge. Orochimaru said Sasuke would want for the power he could give him. I didn't want to believe that was true. He was one of my best friends and I did mot want to lose that.
"And you will," I insisted. "Please, just be patient. It worries me and I don't want you to up and lea-."
"Who says i'm going anywhere?" he asked. "You know me better than that, Lily. Stop looking at me like I'm going to go to that snake for a little power."
When I didn't smile or laugh at his snake comment, he continued, "hey, I'm not going to go anywhere. So stop worrying and trust me, okay?"
I looked at him and complied, "I trust you."
"Good," he said and took a bite out of his tomato. "Anyways, you've been distracted as of late. I know it isn't just your clan. Maybe something residing within the Sand?"
"Like what?" I was oblivious to what he was implying.
"I don't know, perhaps a certain red head," he accused.
"Why would I be worried about him?" I questioned, "We're frie- acquaintances."
"Naruto said your interaction with him was... sentimental," he said. "And Sakura noticed you staring at him on our mission with him."
"What, so you want to talk boys now, bestie?" I rolled my eyes.
"Witty idiot," he sighed.
"Besides," I added. "Since when do you listen to those two weirdos?"
"Since they were right about something for once," he admitted. "He stares at you too
"You watched him? You sure I'm the one who's been worried over him?" I joked. "Maybe you just want to
make friendship bracelets with him.""You can joke, but we both know the truth," He said with a shrug.
"Whatever," I said, grabbing the hand he held his tomato with, taking a bite out of it myself. He rolled his eyes at me yet again, but was used to it. "I have Basil, Naruto, Shika, and you, my dear bestie. What other boy do I need in my life."
"We don't count," he said.
"And why is that?"
"We don't have red hair," he smirked again. "Oh and I heard he's going to be in the village this week."
"Wait, he is?" My eyes lit up. Then he smirked at me with a cheeky grin. "Oh shut up."
"I didn't say anything, Yoshida," Sasuke said, "Your eyes said it all."
"Fuck off, Uchiha."
Alright, so I just love writing conversations with these two. Sasuke is typically funny with comebacks so I like making up more combacks for him. He just flows with Lily.
Hope you enjoy the read!
