Chapter Twenty Eight: Sorry

I sit in the grass and watch everyone interact with one another. Shikamaru and Choji go up to Naruto and whack him upside the head to wake him up. This stuns the blonde and he start to perform his usual Naruto activites.

"The grass ninja! Everyone get down!" Naruto yells, crawling on the ground. "Where could she be hiding?"

Everyone looks at the dumbfounded boy. Choji pokes the boy in the with a stick and he looks up to him and Shikamaru.

"You really are one of a kind..." Shikamaru sighs. "And I mean you're the kind who gets on my nerves."

Naruto ignores him to go on another ramble, "Oh no, Sakura! Sakura! Sakura! Something serious happened to your hair!" Atleast Naruto never changes. I wonder what keeps him running the way he does.

"Oh... I just wanted to change me look. I like it better long, but it gets in the way, especially out here in the forest," she tells him. Well, that lie was comical enough. Of course, Naruto believes it.

"So what's your guys' story? Why are you here in the first place?" Naruto questions Shikamaru and Choji. "What's been going on around here?"

"Ugh, explaining things to you is going to be such a drag," Shikamaru complains.

"Lazy ass," I quip. At the sounds of my voice, Naruto turns his head to me. His are as big as saucers when they meet my arm, which is in a sling.

"Lily," he runs to me. "Who did this to you? Tell me where they are, so I can beat them up!"

"Calm down. I'm fine. It's just a little break," I wave him off.

"Everyone just came to help," Sakura tells him.

"C'mon Lee, snap out of it!" TenTen shakes her teammate, causing us to avert our attention, "Pull yourself together!"

"TenTen is that you?" the speedy ninja grumbles, "What are you doing here?" He's disoriented and has good reason to be. Those sound waves did a lot of damage. I'm speaking from experience...

"I came to help you out, what do you think?" she says.

"Where are the Sound Ninja?" he asks.

"Sasuke took care of them," she informs. "Don't worry about it, Lee."

"Aha! Bushy Brow!" Naruto jumps up, pointing a finger at Lee. At this, Sakura drives her fist into his skull. Yes, I guess our team always stays the same. Dysfunctional and crazed.

"Knock it off! Don't say anything bad about Lee!" Sakura fumes. This of course confuses Naruto becauae not so long ago sue was also judging Lee.

"Thank you, Lee. I was able to stand up for myself because of you." Sakura says sincerely.

The boy has tears in his eyes, "Thank you, Sakura. But it wasn't enough...  Sasuke, it looks like you are as good as your reputation. Just what you would expect from the Uchiha Clan. Meanwhile, I was beaten to a pulp."

Sasuke is shocked. Lee, the person who was able to humilate Sasuke, suddenly got beat by the ninja Sasuke single-handedly finished off. It's that mark on his neck. It did something of an equivocal nature to him. There's no telling what this means for the future.

"Evenso," I cut, "I also have to thank you. We wouldn't have lasted that long if you hadn't shown up. You idiots aswell." I look up to Shikamaru and Lee's team.

"Thank you to you aswell, Lily. You moved me out of the way back then," he tells me then looks back to Sakura, "And Sakura, the lotus of the Leaf Village blooms twice. When we meet again, I would have become a stronger ninja, I promise." The two smile at eachother. Sasuke and Sakura? Screw that. What about Sakura and Lee?
