Chapter Twelve: Team Seven

Tugging on the Leaf Village headband tied loosely around my neck, I open the door to the classroom. The next sight, I didn't expect to see at all.

"Huh? What are you doing here Naruto? You can't be here unless you graduate." Shikamaru gazes at the unexpectedly present blonde.

"Oh yeah? Do you see this? Do you see this? It's a regulation headband, Shikamaru." Naruto smirks, pointing at the headband on his forehead with a thumb. I sigh, somehow he made it? I'm not complaining, just in awe. "Let me put it to you this way. I look great in this headband, like it was made for me! Believe it!"

"Didn't expect to hear those words today." I chime in, smirking at the blonde. "You always have a way of surprising people, Blondie."

Shikamaru sighs making his way over to his seat. I feed him salad and he doesn't even say hello? Lazy ass. I sit beside Naruto, deciding to stay for a second.

"You know I wasn't going to let you move on without me." Naruto grins, "Plus you'd be bored to death."

"I'll admit, I would miss you." I confess reluctantly, crossing my arm across my chest. "Guess, I'm not done looking out for you."

Before he can argue, two fangirls come storming into the classroom. "First!" Sakura and Ino yell. They begin to argue about who made it to the class first. Naruto blushes as he's mesmerized with the sight of the pink-haired Sakura.

How does he not realize she's arguing about who gets to sit next to Sasuke Uchiha? Is he that infatuated with her?

The pinkette runs towards us and Naruto stands up, "Hi, Sakura, what's up?"

"Move it!" She barks, pushing him out of the way. Well that rejection went quick. The girl ignores my pressence and nervously looks to Sasuke. "Good morning, Sasuke. Mind if I sit next to you?"

Soon, the annoying Ino comes butting in, "Back off, forehead! I'm sitting next to Sasuke!"

Sasuke looks at me, "Please don't move..." Woah, is Sasuke Uchiha asking me for help? Well, this is new. I look at the angry, arguing, hormonal preteens and back at Sasuke. Death by fangirls or death by glare.

I get up, about to enjoy the show. I slide onto the empty desk behind me behind and settle myself into the seat.

"The one time I ask her for something..." He grumbles underneath his breath.

Shikamaru is next to me, "I didn't expect you to move."

"And miss out on Uchiha being miserable? Yeah right?" I chortle. The Nara smirks, watching the show with me as more and more fangirls start to gather around the duck.

Third Person's POV

"That's the Yoshida child, top female student?" Kurenai, a jonin, asks. The Hokage and selected Jonin teachers circle around his crystal ball. They watch the commotion playing out in the classroom.

"It appears the Leaf has done her good. I don't remember the last time I've seen a smile on a Yoshida." Asuma notes. He does. They all do.

"No, that child arrived in this village just as you see her now." They gaze on at the Yoshida as she slides across a desk, smirking cheekily at the Uchiha.

"The other top student, Sasuke Uchiha?" Kurenai questions. "The only survivor of the Uchiha Clan Massacre?."

"That's right." The Hokage confirms.

Then, a half-masked ninja takes notice of the blonde sitting on the floor. "Naruto Uzumaki..."

Lily's POV

"How did these girls even pass when they're so busy gawking at emo over there?" I wonder, staring at the foolish girls. If I was born here and had different blood, would I have acted like them? I look back at Sasuke's oddly shaped hair. Not a chance.

"I have no idea. I'm starting to think they only show up for him." Shikamaru adds.

I blink once and Naruto suddenly appears on top of Sasuke's desk. He's furiously glaring at his polar oppisite. Sasuke glares right back with just as much force. I'm surprised they aren't going blind.

The girls start screaming at Naruto to stop staring at him. Soon some guy bumps into the knuckle head and he's now touching lips with Sasuke. The immediately break apart and gag. My face collides with the wooden desk as I laugh into it. "What a lovely couple."

Before the Blonde can yell at me, the fangirls begin to rage. Sasuke's first kiss was no longer promised to them. Long story short, Naruto got beat up, Sakura got the seat, Sasuke got a kiss, and I got an amusing show. Lovely.

Soon Iruka walks into the classroom with a smile on his face. "All of you have worked hard to get to this point. Now you will face much harder obstacles as you move on to being Genin. I am proud of every single one of you. Now, you'll be split into Genin squads of three. However due to the abnormal number of students, there will be a team of four."

Hmm, I'm hoping to be with Shikamaru or Kiba. The Nara is chill and Kiba has an Akamaru. Lazy and cuteness overload. Sounds like a great way to live the ninja life.

"Team Seven! Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno!" Sakura mopes and Naruto cheers. "Sasuke Uchiha!" The switch reactions. "And Lily Yoshida!"

"Oh f-." Shikamru elbows me, smirking at me. I have very mixed emotions. Honestly, this might be the most dysfunctional group yet.

Sakura is extremely intelligent but she's physically weak and Uchiha-obsessed. Naruto is determined and strong however, he makes rash and impulsive decisions. Then, Sasuke is skilled and swift but his ego makes it hard to work with. Finally, I'm well, me. My Kekei Genkai is fierce but, how long until they find out what I am?

"Team Eight! Hinata Hyuga, Kiba Inuzuka, and Shino Aburame."

"Squad Ten! Ino Yamanaka, Shikamaru Nara, and Choji Akimichi."

I snicker at the Nara, elbowing his arm playfully. "Hehe, goodluck, my boy."

When we're dismissed for lunch I settle down on a tree, eating a green apple. Before I can take a second bite I see Sasuke hanging out by a window in the academy. Naruto sneaks behind him, taking him down onto the floor. I can't see anything else until the Uchiha emerges from the window, smirking to himself.

....That's not Sasuke is it? I munch on my apple. I can help Sasuke or eat my apple....

Eh, Uchiha can take care of himself. Apple is more important.
