Harry–
“I don’t think Liam is or was our hugest threat, though.” Tina softly said as she was resting her head on my bare torso, her smooth hair sprawled over my skin. My arm was around her unclothed shoulders as we were both lying together on bed, me staring at the ceiling above me in morose.
“Why not?” I asked nonchalantly, not giving a single care about whatever she was saying. I suppose I didn’t even work out the meaning of what she’d said properly in my mind; I just asked her involuntarily. It was so evident how sad and moody I was these days since Liam’s death, and she’d sometimes question me about it, but I’d shrug it off. Although, I seriously need to tell her everything and whine like a baby about the loss of my best friend to her; the girl I love. The thing was that she was the one who killed him in the first place.
“Liam is only a member of Eagles, which means there’d be more and more members we’d have to face in order to get rid of all the massive problems we’re dealing with.” She reasoned, and I just nodded my head, letting her know I understood while I was not even paying close attention to her words. “It’s so worrying, Harry, that the whole fraternity’s responsibility lies above my shoulders; it wears me out to extreme measures. I – I think nothing really affects me more than losing a member, or failing in a task. And, it’s absolutely absurd to live with such habit because, I think one day, that love and obligation I’ve got for my fraternity would kill me.”
“I won’t let anything happen to you.” I assured her honestly, meaning every syllable that I spoke. I was still working out a plan where I could destroy Immortals but save Augustina and me, and the plan wasn’t really going well, but I was sure I would come up with one by the time Immortals would crash down.
“You cannot prevent something fated from happening, Harry; you cannot stop death.” I let out a sigh of frustration, my eyebrows creased together in annoyance of what she’d spoken.
“I thought you called yourselves Immortals for a reason, am I right? That you’d live forever, that you can’t die?” She laughed rather humorlessly before shaking her head slightly against my body.
“No; we call ourselves Immortals not because we’d live forever as we know we’d sooner or later die. We call ourselves Immortals because we know we’d never fade from life, we’d always remain in people’s memories as life goes on and our enemies’ minds as long as they live. Although our bodies would decay, our souls and works may never perish.”
I remained silent after what she had said, taking all her words in slowly to make sense of them. They did make sense perfectly fine, in fact; they were so meaningful that I knew I would never forget them. I reckoned Immortals have a purpose behind every single action they take or every task they perform. They have a significant importance to their lives that they are proud to show, and they are always risky. Immortals is the obvious contrast of Eagles. In Eagles, we tend to live a carefree life, knowing there’s nobody stronger than us and that nothing could stand in the way of our forbidden desires. We wander around, killing guilty or innocent people and wage wars and conflicts with Immortals for no reasons. It’s a fact that we were the ones who actually started the conflicts with Immortals as we were envious of their unfailing works and skilled members.
If any person knew Eagles and Immortals as well as I do, he’d instantly love Immortals and despise Eagles for many other reasons than the previously stated. It’s just that Eagles is based off of smugness and self-important people who care about nothing but money and pleasure. And although I could not deny my huge attraction toward Immortals’ system, I also could not deny my loyalty for my blood; Eagles. It was an inevitable truth.
