Tina–

I jolted up from my bed quickly, my vision still blurry since I woke up unwillingly because of my stupid morning alarm. I stared at it to find the time already four thirty in the morning; time to get up. After turning my alarm off, I heavily got out of bed and headed towards the tiny bathroom of my apartment.

Ten minutes later, I had already showered, brushed my teeth, put on my outfit and tied my hair up in a ponytail. Being the person I am requires me to be a very quick person. I must be quick while performing the tasks as well as quick while getting ready and I’ve already got used to it.

I could hear the smashing of raindrops on the pavement of the street and on the window panes, indicating that it was raining heavily outside, which wasn’t a big surprise as we were in the middle of December. I’m actually surprised that it hasn’t snow yet.

“Eh Five, what’s up?” Louis greeted once I walked in the institution building. I put on my fakest smile for him which he shook his head while chuckling at it then I headed to the food counter and grabbed a muffin.

“Normal,” I replied, my voice muffled by the food I was chewing. “How are you Eleven?”

We like to call ourselves by our code names, which are numbers for an unknown reason, to annoy each other. When I joined the fraternity my number was picked out Five, just like my mother’s. Since then, nobody calls me by my real name and I personally think some of them have forgotten it. Not to mention that some didn’t even bother to ask, but come to think about it, I wouldn’t have told them.

“I’m fine thanks, Five.” I rolled my eyes at him.

Louis is one of the big authorities here beside me; we majorly control the whole fraternity since Mr. Beck, the old boss, died. We all called him by his name, though he had a code one. It was like he was our father, and we all admired him, but he is long gone; killed to be specific.

“So do you know what my next task is?” I asked once I was done with my muffin and was starting with my coffee.

“Well, stop eating and I’ll tell you.” He snapped and I scowled at him, clearly annoyed by his rudeness.

“First of all; I am now literally drinking not eating, and second; excuse me, but I was in such a hurry to arrive here on time that I forgot to have my breakfast at home, jackass.”

“Whatever,” He whispered, but I heard. He stood up and reached for something that was on the food counter. After grabbing whatever he wanted, he walked over towards me, the playful smile that was once on his face now long gone, replaced by a serious look etched upon his face.

“This is your new task,” He handed me a closed, blue envelope and I didn’t mind opening it as I would certainly do later on. “I still don’t know why you are taking tasks if you’re a member of the authority.” He asked, sighing as he sat back down again.

It’s true, what he said about me being part, a huge one, of the authority. I am one of the head-leaders, but I am still doing tasks and taking orders just like any of the ordinary members, though I do not have to literally follow them. I guess I like what I have been doing for the last five years, so I just stick to it, even after having the chance to rid of the sleepless and tiring nights.

“I told you once and so I’m not explaining again.” I got up, walking towards my office, hearing Louis’s footsteps behind me.

I reached my cupboard and opened it, only to smile at my collection. They were my babies, the ones I was once so frightened of but got accustomed to in a very short period of time. I had all kinds of weapons; pistols, peacemakers, machine-guns, muskets, etcetera. After performing two successful tasks, I buy a new kind of weapons. It became like an addiction to me, carrying a weapon, and killing. I like seeing someone’s blood trickling down his forehead or him swimming in a pond of his own blood because of me. It’s my lifestyle.
