"Okay. You're going to be that way?" Tim snapped and crossed his arms, Angel at work. Ruby smirked and nodded. "Give it to her. NOW."
"No!" The four year old demanded, "Nope- daddy! STOP!" She screamed as Tim snatched the bottle from her hand and handed it to a crying Destiny.
"Here, baby- OW! RUBY!" He growled and weakened as he saw her crying.
"You always favouritise her and Harmony! So does mum!"
"No- hey, hey, you're a bully." Tim said sternly, trying to ease into softness. Destiny sniffled and nudged Ruby, who was crying still. Tim watched her hand Ruby back the bottle, who eased her crying and grinned. Destiny smiled and watched Ruby rush out to terrorise Harmony. She looked at her dad and sniffled.
"It's okay, daddy, let her be happy."
Tim smiled and knelt down in front of her, kissing her head.
"You know how much I love you three? You're my best friends, you know that?"
She giggled. "That's sad, daddy."
"Daddy is very sad." He chuckled and she smiled.
"Love you too. Daddy?"
"Mhm?" He asked with a smile as Destiny stroked his hair.
"It's cold out. Jack and Daniels need to come back in now."
"Shit- ignore that!" He demanded and Destiny gave him a little smirk that made him roll his eyes playfully and rush outside.
He sat on the sofa with Jack across his lap, Daniels under his arm. He had to warm them up now for forgiveness. Harmony was sitting beside Tim and stroking Jack's head, Destiny beside Daniels and hugging the dog, watching tv.
"I have your bottles!" Ruby called, frowning when her sisters ignored her, "Look! Both of them!" She shook it in their faces and Tim sighed.
"Ruby, stop. Sit down."
"Harmony, Destiny, look-!"
"Ruby! Sit down!" Tim huffed and Ruby frowned some more. Her voice was quiet and innocent when it came out as she looked at them all.
"Where, daddy?"
He broke again. Ruby had a way of doing that to him, she was manipulative.
"Beside Harmony or Destiny, Ruby."
She grumpily sat on the floor.
"Okay then. Sit on the floor." He said and she sniffled, nearly crying again.
"Not fair. Them two get the dogs and you and I'm shoved to a side."
"I have 5 things to take care of, Rubes. Two dogs and three daughters. Where'd you like to sit?" He asked and she pouted.
"Grandad wouldn't treat me like this! I'm his favourite!"
"No!" Harmony shrieked, "You're not! No!"
"I am, he said so himself." Ruby said proudly and Tim rolled his eyes.
"Will you feel better if we go visit grandad? Yeah?"
"Yeah!" Ruby grinned excitedly and he nodded.
"Mummy needs to come home and eat first."
"No! I want grandad!" Ruby demanded, "I want grandad!"
"Ruby-"
"I WANT GRANDAD-!"
"RUBY! LISTEN TO ME!" Tim barked and all the girls' chins wobbled as they cowered away. He groaned as Ruby started to cry, followed by Harmony and then Destiny. "Why are you all crying? Daddy won't hurt you, girls, you just stress me out."
"You yelled!" Ruby screamed, "Why do you always yell at me?!"
"Hey, sweetie, I- Jack, move." He sighed and patted Jack's bum, who rushed off to Ruby anyway. Ruby cried louder and ignored the dog watching and trying to cheer her up.
"Come on, Ruby." Tim squatted down in front of her, "I do not always yell at you. You ask your mum, you're the hardest to get along with because you're a little troublemaker."
"You're horrible to me." She sobbed and Tim sighed.
"Want me to pick you up, beauty? Daddy got muscles just so one day he could pick up his babies with no struggle." He smiled as she sniffled and smiled.
"Daddy...?"
"Mhm?"
"I want to be picked up." She stuck her arms out and Tim grinned and stood up, picking her up and holding her on his hip.
"Forgiven me now?" He asked, the other two quieter now as Destiny went back to hugging Daniels and Jack jumped back up on the sofa to comfort Harmony.
She sighed playfully. "I'm still telling grandad."
"Oh, god." He grumbled and grinned as she kissed his cheek. "I love you, little Ruby."
She was quiet and looked at the tv, resting her cheek against his shoulder. He smiled as he realised how big and warm he must feel to her, and she felt like he was the whole world holding her as she rest against him like that.
"That smell is hurting my belly." She whimpered and Tim hummed.
"My aftershave?"
"Hurts."
He groaned, "Sorry, sweetie, not much I can do. What should- Angel! Thank god!"
Angel raised an eyebrow as she came in. Destiny gasped and Harmony beamed.
"Mummy!" They called, but Ruby grunted and wrapped her arms around Tim's neck.
"Not a big fan?" Angel teased Ruby, who shook her head. Her smile fell. "Ruby, what's up? No kisses for mummy?"
Ruby turned her head back to Tim who raised an eyebrow.
"Kiss your mum." He demanded and Ruby frowned.
"No."
"Right, we're not going grandads-"
"I'M GOING GRANDADS!" She demanded and slapped his chest and Angel watched his face steel. He grabbed her wrist as stared at her, and Angel saw Ruby start to get intimidated.
"We're not going anywhere now. And don't you dare smack me again. Do you hear me?!" He shouted the last bit and made her whimper and rest against him.
"Sorry, sorry, sorry."
"And say hello to your mum, have some damn respect." His growl made her sniffle and turn to Angel.
"H-hi, mummy."
"Hi, darling. Uhm, Tim?" Angel asked as Ruby began to cry again onto his shoulder, "Not sure intimidation is the best way to deal with it."
"No, no, she's been crying all day to get her way, little miss manipulative has." He snapped, "But anyway, babe, how was work?" He leaned in and kissed her lips.
"Boring. I missed you." She mumbled.
"And me, mum?" Destiny asked and Harmony grinned and waited to know.
"And all of you. Even the little devil." She ruffled Ruby's hair who whined.
"Get off my hair!"
Tim huffed and stroked her hair down and she relaxed under his touch, visibly melting. Angel grinned.
"I cannot wait for cuddles, Tim."
"Why?" He grinned and she gestured towards Ruby.
"Literally melting in your arms."
"Aww, Ruby." Tim whispered, "Got a soft spot for me?" He teased and Ruby whimpered and grabbed his shoulder. "Ahh, thought so. See, Angel? Just got a soft spot for daddy."
"Dad, I want grandad." She mumbled.
"Let mummy eat first and I'll see if grandad is busy. Okay?"
"Okay." She muttered and gasped and let lose a cry as he went to put her down.
"No!"
Angel giggled, stroking the dogs hello. "Attached." She sang a bit and Tim laughed and held her up.
"What? What now?"
"I want hugs, daddy. You never hug me."
"I always hug you, you liar!" He laughed and she pouted.
"Not as much as Hars and Dest."
"Because the other two don't try and attack me." He pointed out and she stared at him with a pout. He broke into a smile. "Daddy can't stay mad at you. You have my eyes."
"I have MY eyes." She mumbled and he kissed her nose.
"I love you, I love you, oh, I love you." He squeezed her close, watching his strength and she giggled.
"Love you too."
"Ahh, yes! Mummy, look! Ruby loves somebody!"
"No!" She defended and Angel pouted.
"Not even mummy?"
"No." She scoffed and Angel frowned.
"Ruby, that's rude. If you want the truth, I didn't want more than one child neither, and two was okay. Three was the unwanted one." She snapped and Tim glared at her.
"Destiny came out last so she's unwanted-"
"No! Destiny's so sweet and so is Harmony! You need to check your attitude, Ruby." She hissed and Ruby frowned.
"Well I didn't want you either."
"ANGEL!" Tim yelled a bit loudly when Ruby started to sniffle again and she cocked an eyebrow.
"Don't you dare yell at me, I'm not one of your children."
"Get in the kitchen. Now." He snarled and she rolled her eyes.
"I'm going to my dads-"
"Grandad!" Ruby begged and stuck her arms out to Angel, who grimaced at her.
"No. You want to be like that with me, I'm not your friend."
Ruby cried louder and Tim sighed and rocked her, shaking his head at Angel.
"Just get out. Get out, Angel, go on."
She scowled at him. "I will. Harmony, Destiny, come on. Let's go see grandad."
"NO!" Ruby screamed and Tim shushed her. Harmony and Destiny gasped and rushed to pull their shoes on, and Angel smiled.
"Come on then, girls." She said softly and grabbed both of their hands. Tim watched her leave with them.
He was left rocking Ruby, who was screaming and crying.
"Hey, Ruby, it's okay. Grandad still loves you even if you can't quite make it. Tell you what, once the girls are back, I'll take you. Just me and you. And Grandad can spend as much time with you as he wants. Okay?"
"She's mean to me." She cried, and Tim wiped her eyes.
"You were mean to her first."
"She's my mummy!" She sniffled and turned her head away quietly. Tim realised she'd finished with her loud fit and was calmed down.
"Ready to watch tv?"
"I want to go bed."
"Why?"
"Tired."
Tim sighed and carried her upstairs, sitting her down. She lay on her bed but didn't sleep. Tim sighed, sitting beside the bed.
"Don't go all miserable, hun."
Ruby turned her back towards him.
"Baby, don't be mad at me, what did I do?"
Silence.
"Okay, well daddy's downstairs when you want him. Alright?"
"Dunno why you're being nice to me." She huffed and Tim smiled and kissed her cheek.
"Because you're my daughter, and I love you. Little miss fussy."
She shook her head. "No."
"No?"
"Don't want to talk to you. Go away."
Tim groaned. "Ruby, I have chocolate downstairs."
"No."
He sighed and went downstairs. He sat between his two dogs and took a deep breath.
"I miss when it was just us three, man. Hard raising kids."
Jack nudged him with his head and he wrapped an arm around each dog, watching tv.
