"What? No. No, you can't do this to me." Albus demanded. She growled at him.
"Nine months I managed by myself being pregnant, and another eleven dealing with her. Take your daughter. I'm not having her."
"Me neither! Why can you run?"
"Because I'm moving out of the country tomorrow. You better grab your baby, Albus. She's crying." Daisy sneered.
"Why didn't you abort?"
Her face fell. Then she looked away. "I tried. Mum wouldn't let me."
"So?! Your choice!"
"You don't get it, do you?" She stared at him, an ice cold stare, "If I aborted, I would be on the streets."
"How is that my issue? How do I even know if this thing is mine?"
"She is definitely yours because you are the only person I had sex with. And, by the way, she isn't a thing. And now she's all yours. Be a father. Stay in her life. I just can't take it, Al. I have nothing to offer her. You have a dad and a brother and a roof over your head. My mum's making me go live with my aunt abroad, Albus." She mumbled.
"What...? No... I-I'm not having that thing." He stepped back and she rolled her eyes.
"That thing?" She stepped away from the pram, "I pushed her here."
"Don't you dare leave." Albus snapped, but his voice was coated with fear. "No. Daisy, you can't just dump it on me. I didn't even know you were pregnant! How do I know it's mine?"
Harry came walking into the living room at that moment, and Daisy went running out.
"No, Daisy!" He called over the crying over the baby, and heard the front door slam. He slumped back on the sofa.
"What is..." Harry furrowed his brows and picked up the baby. His eyes widened. "This is yours. Isn't she?"
"I don't know, dad." He said in a scared whisper.
"She is. She looks just like you when you were a baby."
"She's only nearly 12 months old." Albus turned and angrily punched the pillow beside him.
"No violence in front of her. And Albus, you're eighteen, for god sake. You already have a baby? I thought after that travel year you were going to go Uni?" He spoke in a clearly mad yet calm voice, rocking and shushing the baby.
"I didn't know about her." Albus mumbled, not meeting eye contact, "Her name is Minnie."
"I'm incredibly mad at you. I... I'm so disappointed." He huffed, stroking Minnie's hair as she calmed down against his shoulder, "When's her birthday?"
"Apparently?" Albus rubbed his temples, "Tomorrow."
"Oh." He pulled back and smiled at her, "Is Minnie going to be one tomorrow? Is Minnie becoming a big girl?"
Albus watched Harry gently rub his nose against hers as she giggled and then held her back towards his chest. He sighed at Albus.
"Great. Family at eighteen. Well, at least you're an adult. Just. This means," He sat next to Albus, "All these plans you had... they're all gone now, you now. Swiped off the table. University, graduating..."
"How do I get a job then?!" He hissed.
"You might be a toilet cleaner at Mcdonalds for all I know, Albus. But this baby is what matters." He hissed back.
"Why are you so calm?! Do you see how big this is for me?! How much of a MISTAKE she was?!" He yelled and the baby started crying again.
"I am calm," He said through grit teeth, "Because it is illegal for me to snap your neck, Albus. And there's a baby in the room. Your baby. And these plans aren't just for you anymore. It's for the both of you."
"No. Dad, no." He growled, "I don't know if it's mine!"
"Oh, she is. Looks the double of you. Except she's beautiful." He smiled at the baby and the baby calme down, "Oh, what a beautiful girl." He said in a cutesy, fake, baby voice. Albus decided to calm down.
"How do I do this? Be a dad? Why can she run? Dad, I can't give this baby anything except up for adoption." He whispered, "Dad, what do I do?"
His brother James came skidding into the room. Then he stopped.
"I thought that was Albus crying. Who's the kid?"
"Nobody-" Albus was cut off by Harry.
"Albus' daughter. With Daisy."
"WHAT?!" James laughed and sat next to Harry, "Hello!"
Albus slumped back on to another sofa, watching them get all happy over a baby. He could see Jame's shining shock and Harry's flickering fury under their happy voices.
"And Albus," Harry said after a few moments, looking up at him, "This is your baby now. And Daisy has fucked off-"
"Dad!" James hissed, "The baby."
"Sorry, Minnie." He smiled and looked back at Albus, who was shaking in fear, "She's left. Moving away from what I heard from the kitchen. And this is your priority. Be a dad. Her mum's already left. You can't... you can't let her live like that, Albus." His voice became incredibly desperate, "I-I managed both of you by myself when mum died. You were only two and James was one."
"You were in your twenties and had a stable job and income." Albus shot back.
"And you have me. For now I can help whilst we decide what to do. But soon enough you'll need your own job and build up to your own home. I know this isn't ideal. I know it isn't what you planned. But Minnie is here now. Come here, son." He patted beside him, "You haven't held her yet, right?"
He gulped and hesitantly sat beside Harry. He jumped away when Harry moved her.
"What if I drop her? What if she poos or pukes? Dad, just give her up!"
"No!" James yelled, "No. I'm an uncle and the baby is staying with you. You made the mistake. Deal with consequences. You can't just run around making babies and expect them all to go to an adoption centre." He hissed and Harry nodded.
"He's right. Is this the only one, Albus?"
"What?"
"Is this your only child?"
He burned bright. "I... I only had... sex... with Daisy..." He gulped, "So... yes."
James laughed. "Look how embarrassed he is."
"Shut up." Harry snapped at him and turned to Albus, who was staring at James with narrowed eyes, "Albus, you do know what a condom is, right?"
He blushed. "I thought she would take the pill. We were both drunk."
"You thought wrong. I didn't think you were dumb enough to need a talk from me as well as learning it from the school." Harry huffed and turned towards him, "Hold. Your. Baby."
Albus gulped and put his hands out as if to catch something.
"I'm not going to throw her at you." Harry grinned as James laughed, and Albus found himself smiling for the first time that day. It was only 11 AM. "Here." He gently placed her into his arms and Albus whined, squirming.
"No! Get her away!"
"Albus! Hold her! Don't drop her!"
"You're eighteen." James shuffled closer, "Can I hold her after?"
"Hold her now!"
"No! Albus!" Harry yelled and the baby started to cry. Albus froze and looked down at her. Her wobbling chin, squeezed shut eyes and pursed lips. Her eyelashes cascaded down her cheeks and what she had of her brown hair was fluffy on her head. Her lips were a light pink colour, and as she opened her eyes to look at Albus, they were...
"Blue?"
"Bluey green." James said, "Daisy had blue, remember?"
Albus groaned. "For god sake..."
"Can you comfort your child?" Harry positioned her on a frozen Albus and pulled his arms to hold her towards his chest. "Stand up and rock her."
"Rock her? I'll throw a bloody rock at her if she doesn't shut up." Albus hissed at the baby and Harry smacked the back of his head. Albus huffed and stood up, rocking her.
"Shut up." He begged.
"Careful! Not too hard! Gentle!" James said and Albus glared at him, slowing down his rocks and going gentle.
"Right. You stupid baby. You've ruined my life." He mumbled, "And I'm looking at the mess you made and I'm looking at you and I feel nothing. Nothing. No sudden burst of love. No smiles. Nothing. I regret you." Albus muttered, rocking her gently.
She calmed down and looked up at him with watery eyes and a small frown. He sighed and before Harry could hit him, leaned down and kissed her forehead gently.
"Sorry, Minnie. Sorry." He grumbled, "Okay, okay. Shush now. No tears."
She reached up a hand curled into a small fist and grabbed his shirt, trying to pull herself up. Albus sat down.
"Put her gently over your shoulder." Harry said and Albus did. He grimaced as Minnie started sucking on his shoulder and drooling everywhere.
"I think she's trying to give me a hickey. Bad girl. No." Albus joked and Harry laughed and went into the bag at the end of the pram Daisy ditched. He got out her dummy and handed it to Albus.
"No flirting with daddy." James teased and Albus frowned at that word.
"Daddy...?"
"Yep. You are a father." Harry said as Albus brought her gently down and put the dummy in her mouth. She smiled up at him, making grabby hands towards him. Albus put her back over his shoulder and stared at the floor as she pulled gently at his hair. He was thinking.
"So... what do I do?" Albus looked at Harry.
"You buck up. You look after your daughter." Harry said, "She's beautiful."
"Yeah... gets it from me." Albus muttered, trying to joke, but he gulped back the lump in his throat, "Yep. My genes."
"Can I hold her now?" James asked and Albus pulled away.
"Hold on." He muttered and held her closer, still thinking. "Minnie, you may have just ruined my life."
"Albus, don't tell her that." James hissed and Albus stood up.
"Hands out."
He handed her James who gasped and grinned at her.
"Hello, Minnie! Hello!" He kissed her nose and she chortled, "Hello. Oh, you look beautiful! I'm an uncle." He grinned and Albus stared.
"Why are you so happy?" He grumbled.
"Because it's your mistake. I just get to play with it." He smirked and Albus groaned.
"Dad, one second, I'm just going to stab myself."
Harry pulled him back from walking out.
"Stab yourself when she's eighteen. Right now she needs you."
"Jesus Christ." He sighed and stared at her. "She's one tomorrow. Where is she going? She can't stay here. Oh, a foster home!"
Harry smacked his head again. "No! Here. I'm going to buy some things. A cot. It will be in your room."
"No." He stared at the baby, "I-I'm an eighteen year old boy, I can't have a girl in my room."
"It's a baby." James laughed and Albus shook his head.
"No. No, I have stuff I need to do and I need to keep it private."
"No. The stuff you have to do must involve the baby now. You must always be thinking about her."
He whined.
"The funniest thing is," James laughed, "He had this baby before he figured out he was gay!"
Harry snorted and laughed and Albus stared at them both.
"This isn't funny."
"A gay man with a baby."
"This isn't funny!" He said again to his dad.
"How's Scorpius going to react?" James laughed. Albus blushed.
"We aren't dating. He's my friend."
"Sure." James winked and Harry laughed.
"Even I know there's more to that, Albus."
"We're just friends." He snapped again and stared at the baby. "Oh my god."
Harry stared at him in surprise at how high his voice went. It sounded like he would faint.
"I'm going to be alone my whole life and working at Mcdonalds." He squeaked and James burst into laughter.
"Albus, shut up." Harry leaned forward at the smell, "Oh, James, have you been washing?"
"Yes, thanks. You?"
Albus laughed. "The baby pooed in James' hands!"
"Your baby." James smirked and stood up, handing her to a fumbling Albus, "Change her."
"How?!" He asked Harry who grinned.
"I'll stand with you and instruct you. Come on, get out," He fumbled in the bag, "A changing mat."
He arranged it on the floor and then got out fresh nappies and baby wipes. He knelt down beside the mat and patted beside him. Albus groaned.
"Can you? Isn't this a mother thing? She is a girl." He pointed out and Harry glared at him.
"She's a baby whose body hasn't grown yet so don't go sexualising her, tramp."
He groaned knelt down, putting the baby down. He held her so she didn't crawl away and Harry instructed him. Baby grow came off and Albus stopped and found himself grinning at how chubby and wrinkly and adorable she was.
"Aww..." He laughed and kissed her belly, making her giggle, "Look at you. So cute."
Harry watched with a smile and James grinned.
"Okay, Min. Stay there." Albus sighed and she started to cry when Harry instructed him and he took off the nappy. Albus jumped back like there was a bomb in there.
"Albus! Hurry!" Harry snapped and covered his nose.
"She stinks!" Albus groaned and Harry glared at him.
"Change her bum."
"Did Daisy pack a gas mask?"
"Albus!" Harry hissed. He sighed and crept forward to the crying girl and lifted up her legs. Harry told him to pull the dirty nappy out. He did so and went to put her down and Harry gasped, making him hold her.
"What?!"
"Don't! Wipe her bum first!"
He whined and grabbed a baby wipe. He almost cried when it touched him. He wiped and put it down, doing up the nappy and staring at his hand.
"I NEED TO BURN IT!" He screamed and Minnie giggled as he ran out. James grinned.
"Look. Trouble maker Minnie."
Harry laughed and agreed. Albus came running in soon and stared at Minnie.
"Right. Min." He sighed and bit his lip as she started to crawl about, "Is that safe, dad?"
"Yes. Careful. Watch her." He tapped James' shoulder, "Me and you need to get stuff. Albus can look after his baby."
James frowned. "Can I stay with her?"
"Please!" Albus begged, "Don't leave me alone."
"No. Come on. Invite Scorpius over if you get lonely, Albus. He's only down the road. But don't take your eyes of the baby." Harry demanded and they all looked at her. She was walking towards the corner of the table, "She'll bang her head on the corner."
Albus sighed and picked her up. He stared at her and tried to hide his smile at how beautiful she was.
"Okay. Can you guys knock on Scorpius' though? I can't call and hold her."
"You can multitask. Sit down with her on your arm and call him. He knows about babies, doesn't he? He has a baby sister?" Harry asked.
"Please just go get him." Albus mumbled. James laughed.
"Okay. He won't date you now though."
"James!" Harry grabbed his arms and dragged him out. Albus rocked the baby on his lap.
"Well, baby. Just me and you." He slumped back and the baby chortled, dropping her dummy.
"Huhn...hahgu..."
"I know." Albus muttered, closing his eyes for a second as he held her. "Sleep, child."
As if on cue, she yawned and grabbed at his shirt. Albus gave her her dummy back and she closed her eyes.
