While on the way to the CDC I tried to think of a way to tell Cas to tell my brothers we were heading to the CDC. I looked out the window and it was getting dark.

Once we saw the big facility we parked. I held my sons hand with my gun in my free hand. "Ace remember, stay close to me or Daryl. Okay?" He nodded and we all got out. Outside was bodies everywhere. We started to walk and I gave Ace my rag to cover his face from this horrible smell. Shane was telling us to keep going and to keep quiet. I had my bat and barrett and bag while Ace had his bag and my blade still. We kept walking until we were almost there. I was walking next to Sophia and Carol. I had extra towels and gave it to them still holding my breath.
Once we go to the entrance the rolling steel doors were down, blocking the door to the inside. But it was a little strange. If the walkers where able to come up to here- the doors must at least have been open- or broken in to. But they were down. Maybe the military managed to get inside along with doctors? I saw a camera while looking around.
Rick and Shane were trying to budged it open but nothing. They were pounding on them and stuff. I pulled ace more to the front weary of our surroundings.
"Theres nobody here." T-Dog said. I looked to the camera. I didn't hear anything until Daryl called out walkers. I had my barrett ready, taking one more look at the camera. I kept looking at it with pleading eyes. For hope. People were arguing and stuff. I held ace close to me.
"Come on Daphne! Let's go!" Daryl was pulling me but I stood my ground and stayed.
"Mom?" I ignored ace and continued pleading silently at the camera. It did not move. Then suddenly hope was found. I gasped seeing the camera move just a little. Daryl pulled me back and Rick was shouting that the camera moved while others were calling him crazy.
"No! He's right! The camera did move! I saw it." I pulled Ace towards the doors. I looked at it with new found hope. Shane and Daryl were trying to talk us out of it. I ran to the door, Ace with Daryl, banging on it. "PLEASE! OPEN IT! I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE! I KNOW YOU CAN HEAR US! PLEASE! WE HAVE CHILDREN! PLEASE! YOU'RE GOING TO KILL US! PLEASE!! JUST Please..." I was pulled with more force by Daryl.
Rick doing the same thing I did. As we were both pulled away we heard metal crashing. we looked and saw the doors rolled up blinding us with bright light. I gasped.
"Come on everyone!" I called everyone. We all ran inside not wasting another second out there. I had my barrett incase it was an attack. Ace was hiding behind me. We heard a gun cock so we all pointed at the source of the sound. It was a man with an uzi.
"Anybody infected?" he asked.
"One of our group was. He didn't make it." I looked at rick when he said that. Why mention Jim? I thought, brushing it off.
"Why are you here? What do you want?" He asked.
"A chance." Was all Rick said.
"That's asking an awful lot these days." He said.
"I know." Rick answered. The man was looking at all of us noticing our tiredness and fear.
"You all submit to a blood test. That's the price of admission." Excuse me? He wants me to what?
"We can do that." Rick answered.
"You got stuff to bring in, you do it now. Once this door closes, it stays closed." Some made a run for it to bring their stuff inside. Daryl came back with my book in hand. I gasped, I didn't know it fell!
"Thank you." I said he just grunted. Once everyone was back we went into an elevator. And to my surprise we all fit.
"Doctors always go around packing heat like that?" Daryl asked braking the silence. I could feel him tense when we all got in. I was between him and Glenn. Ace was next to Sophia and Carl.
"There were plenty left lying around. I familiarized myself. But you look harmless enough. Except you two. I'll have to keep my eye on you two." That made Carl and Ace smile. The elevator came to a stop. Once we got out I kept having a bad feeling in my gut, and I didn't know why.
We came to a stop in this big place. "VI, bring up the lights in the big room." All of a sudden lights turned on. "Welcome to zone 5." Jenner said. While rick as well as the others and Jenner were talking I was still looking around. This place reminds me of some places I've been in, like the hospital for jobs while hunting.
"Hello, guests. Welcome." I looked around for who said that. Then I realized it was an AI.
"I'm all that's left. I'm sorry." Then we continued to walk into a room. Then he asked for a blood tets. I gulped and went behind everyone. Daryl noticed this and asked what was wrong.
"I'm...afraid of needles..." He just had a confused face. Yeah I know, A big hunter like me? Who hunted more life threatening things afraid of needles? I've been afraid ever since dad took me and my brothers to get a shot that was the first time I felt afraid of them. People kept going. It was my turn. Ace had gone before me saying Jenner gave him, Carl, and Sophia a sticker.
"Don't worry mom! There's nothing to be afraid of!" I forced a smile and sat down. Daryl was by my side. I gave him my arm and he did the things before doing the shot. I turned around not looking at it. I kept thinking of puppies and kittens. Then I felt it. I jumped a bit and whimpered. Ace just hugged me. I kissed his head.
"And there all done." I nodded and stood up. I stopped when I felt dizzy as if I had carried a truck on my head almost falling. Thankfully Daryl was there to catch me.
"Whoa..." I huffed.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah, I'm alright." Then I continued to walk back to the group.
"She hasn't eaten in days. None of us have." He stayed quiet for a moment and told us to follow him.

We were all laughing and having fun. Food! At last! I was smiling that my child was finally having food. Dale passed me a glass of wine- which I gladly took.
"Mom are you going to get drunk?" Ace asked. I stayed silent.
"It's okay! Uncle dean used to get drunk when he babysat me!" I gasped.
"He what?!" I just laughed. That's dean for you. I drank the wine. "Ahh, So good! It's been too long!" I said as I laughed. I got up and grabbed a bottle. I saw Daryl have the same idea so I passed him one.
"You know in Italy, children have a little bit of wine with dinner. And in France." I looked at Ace and he had been staring at my bottle for a while now. I shrugged.
"Why not? It's the end anyway!" I poured a little in Ace's cup. He drank it and made a yuck face.
"Taste...ugh!" We all laughed at him and Carl. We were all having a fun time. By this time I was getting drunk. I rarely drink. The only time I did was when I was with my brothers before Ace was born. I only drank half a bottle and that was it. Now drinking a whole bottle? Oh jeez...
"Not you gelnn." Huh?
"Keep drinking, little man. I want to see how red your face can get." I laughed and agreed.
"I'll join you glenn!" I said, holding up the bottle.
"It seems to me we haven't thanked our host properly." I nodded at rick.
