We raised our glass and thanked the doctor. We all did a Boo-yah thanks to Daryl who started it. But all good things come to an end, Shane being the one to ruin this happy moment. "So when you going to tell us what the hell happened here, Doc?" We all became quiet when Shane said this.

Of course, it's Shane. I thought as I sighed and continued drinking. The doctor explained the situation with the doctors. "Where are they?"

"We're celebrating Shane. Don't need to do this now."

"Yeah Shane back off!" I slurred. Daryl just pat my back.

"Whoa Wait a second, this is why we're here right?" Shane said.

"This is was your move- supposed to find the answers, instead we-" we couldn't hear him. I put down my drink and hugged Ace.

"Mom?"

"It's all okay, son, ignore him." I ruffled his hair.

"We found him, found one man, why?"

"Well, when things went bag, a lot of people just left. Went off to be with their families." He looked at each of us and the. His eyes landed on mine. "And when things got worse, when the military cordon got overrun, they bolted." He went back to looking around. I narrowed my eyes,

Does he know something about me? I thought.

"Every last one?" We heard Shane.

"No, many couldn't face walking out the door. They...opted out. There was a rash of suicides. That was a bad time." The mood became depressing.

Good job Shane. I huffed.

"You didn't leave, why?"

"I just kept working, hoping to do some good."  The room felt silent.

"...Dude, you are such a buzzkill, man." Glenn sighed.

"Preach it glen!" I slurred with a laugh.

"That's enough for you tonight Daph," I huffed in disagreement. "Come on." Daryl wrapped my arm around his neck and picked up my legs, following Dr. Jenner to the rooms with Ace in front of us.

"Mom, you're so drunk." Ace laughed.

"Don't be drunk like mommy and uncle, although uncle does have a good tolerance..." I said.

"Okay mom!" Ace said.

"Most of facility is powered down. Including housing. So you'll have to make do here. The couches are comfortable but there are cots in the storage if you like. There's a rec room down the hall that you kids might like. Just don't plug in the video games okay? Or anything that draws power. Rules applied, if you shower go easy on the hot water." My ears perk at the words 'hot water'.

"Hot water?" Glen asked in disbelief.

"That's what the man said." We all began going to our rooms, Daryl practically dragged me to a room and laid me on the bed.

"Man you are wasted." He huffed.

"Thank you!" I giggled.

"Well I'll go find my own room."

"Nooo! Don't leave me and Ace alone!" I hugged his arm, whining.

"Mister Daryl, will you stay here and keep us safe?" I heard Ace say.

"Fine, I call shower first." I hummed.

"Mommy?"

"Yes Ace?"

"Can I sing you a song?"

"Aw! Of course, sweetheart!" Ace sat next to my head so I laid my head on his small chest. Then he began singing a song with his soothing voice.

"Mm..." Darkness consumed me.

-Minutes later with Rick-

Rick walked down where Dr. Jenner was, he knocked on a table as the Doctor turned to him.

"How's the blood?"

"No surprises." Rick walked forward with a bottle in hand. Dr. Jenner turned to him and opened his mouth to say something but Rick beat him to it.

"I came to thank you."

"You did." Rick fell down on the floor trying to sit. Surprising the doctor. "You all- You all right?"

"You don't know what it's like." Rick laughed. "You don't know what it's like out there. You may think you do but you don't. We'd have died out there. It was only a matter of time...there's too many of those things." Dr. Jenner listen to him. "My-my boy...my- my wife I never- I never told 'em what I really thought. I never even hinted, just- ...just kept it in. Kept it in and kept us moving, you know. Just kept it in. Kept us..." Dr. Jenner hesitated but sat next to him.

"It'll all be okay. It'll be okay." Dr. Jenner assured him turning back to his computer. He kept his eye on an open tab, wondering if he should say something about this information he found.

I woke up groggily. "God...my head..." I held my head in my hand.

"Hi mom."

"Ace, baby..."

"Daryl is still sleeping." I nodded.

"Moms going to shower okay, hun?" He nodded and I made my way to the bathroom turning on the water. I stripped my clothes and went in. I moaned in the hot water.

"Dear lord, this is the best!" I laughed. I did my things and just enjoyed the shower before coming out. I tied myself in a towel and walked out.

"Oh." I turn to see Daryl wide awake standing at the door. I froze.
