Song Ash plays/wrote. I own nothing.

My name is Asher Lightwood, short for Ashlynne, but most people call me Ash. I'm 23 years old and I'm a Shadowhunter along with my siblings, my twin brother Alec (older by an hour) and my little sister Isabelle or Izzy for short. I have another brother too, Max, but he's not a Shadowhunter yet. Then there's Jace Wayland, our adoptive brother and Alec's parabatai. Jace was left at our doorstep when Alec and I were around 12 or 13, and my parents took him in.

A parabatai means that Alec and Jace are bonded for life. If Jace or Alec dies, a part of the other person dies too. I once had a parabatai, Emerson Silverstone. But she's gone now, but that's a story for another time. I live at the New York Institute of Shadowhunters; basically a headquarters for the New York branch of Shadowhunters.

I have long black hair like my mother and Izzy, but I have my brother's blue eyes. I'm kind of a tomboy, but not usually for missions. I learned how to play guitar and piano at quite a young age and over time I started to write my own songs. Also I have one huge ass secret that I can't tell anybody, not even Alec. If anyone found out, I could be severely frowned upon by the Clave and possibly disowned; maybe even stripped of my runes of it got that bad, but I am bisexual.

I've written several songs about my sexuality, but 'swapped the perspective and pronouns' to compensate and make it seem like a straight love song, when in reality it's about a guy or a girl or both.

Right now I was just jamming out to my favorite songs on my guitar. Currently the song was Golden Days by Panic! At the Disco. I'm really into rock bands and alternative rock bands. All the other Shadowhunters think I'm nuts for listening to music made for mundanes, but most of these bands are Downworlders.

"Time can never break your heart but it'll take the pain away. Right now our future's certain, I won't let it fade away. Golden day-" "Asher, let's go." Alec said, cutting off my playing and my singing. I scoffed.

"Really Alec? Right at the build-up?" I asked, annoyed as I put my guitar away and slipped on my black jean vest. Alec, Izzy, Jace and I were heading out on a mission.

"Well no offense but I think your mundane music can wait, we have a mission." Alec said. "I know, I know." I said, rolling my eyes as I grabbed my stele off my dresser and slipped it in my pocket.

"Let's get going." I said, walking out of my room. "Isabelle, let's go." Alec called. Izzy was in her room looking at her outfit. I personally don't care about my wardrobe for missions. As long as it's black, I have my weapon holster and an easy access place for my stele then I'm good. Izzy walked out of her room with a short-cut platinum blonde wig.

"Hey there, big bro and sis." she said. "Really?" Alec asked, referring to the wig.

"What can I say? Demons dig blondes." she said. "Of course they do but that's white." Alec said.

"Platinum." Izzy and I said together. "You two are plenty distracting on your own." Alec said. "Standing right here, Alec." I said, gesturing to my outfit that covers lots of my body.

Izzy's comfortable in wearing anything and chooses to dress... more suggestively than other girls. I never wanna be sexualized by my wardrobe though, so I always try and cover up.

"Sorry, Ash." Alec quickly apologized. I flashed him a smile. "So be yourself, that's what you're saying?" Izzy asked. "Nevermind. You look great, let's get going." Alec said. The three of us ascended down the stairs to the ops center where we were meeting Jace for a debrief of the mission.

"We're ready, Jace." I said. "Nice choice, Izzy. Demons dig blondes." Jace said.

"Told ya." Izzy said. "It's platinum." Alec said. I rolled my eyes. "Alright guys, for some reason our demon friends are killing mundanes and draining their blood.
