Moo Shu to Go

I woke up to Clary and Jace running after Alec. It's way too early for this, but I'll just get a coffee on the way out. I threw on a black sweater and followed after them, zipping up as I did.

"Put this somewhere safe where no one will be tempted to use it." I heard Alec say as I followed the three of them.

"What's going on? It's way too early for this shit." I said. "I'll fill you in later, Ash." Jace said.

"We should use it." Jace said, grabbing Alec's hand. "Alec we should use it to get to Valentine." Jace tried to argue.

"If I were Valentine, I'd make you think you could rescue Jocelyn, lure Clary to me and leverage her life for the Cup." Alec said as he opened a safe that only his stele has access to.

"I like Jace's idea. We saved Simon from the vampires that way." Clary said. What am I missing? I need coffee ASAP. I missed what Alec said as he placed Clary's purple necklace in the safe.

"Valentine is a real threat." Alec said and closed the safe. "He can't be handled by four-and-a-half Shadowhunters." Alec said getting in Clary's face.

"Five." Clary and I both corrected. "Whatever. Leave it there." Alec instructed and walked away.

"Ok what did I miss? You know what, tell me after I've had coffee." I said and walked to the mess hall to get a cup of coffee.

"If you're following me to scold me, Ash, don't bother. The necklace stays in that safe, end of story." Alec said. "I'm not gonna scold you. Not this early and not before I've had coffee." I said.

I got a cup of coffee and carried it back to my room while I got dressed. I put on some Fall Out Boy while I was getting ready.

"I! Don't! Care what you think, as long as it's about me. The best of us can find happiness in misery!" I belted while I got dressed and put eyeliner on. I put on a black and white striped T-shirt with leather fingerless gloves, ripped black skinny jeans and combat boots. I also put on a black denim vest. I looked at the necklace Magnus 'gave' me last night. Should I wear it? I guess it wouldn't hurt. I clipped on the necklace and adjusted it in the mirror

After I got ready, Jace filled me in on Clary's necklace being a portal shard and she used it to see Valentine and an unconscious Jocelyn, and that's why Alec took it.

I turned a corner and saw Izzy and Clary talking. "Look I know my brother can be a real pain in the ass, but he means well." Izzy said.

"Izzy's right. That necklace could be dangerous." I said. "I'll take the risk on my own." Clary said.

"But you're not on your own anymore. You're one of us now, Clary." I said, sitting next to her with Izzy on her other side.

"I wish I knew what to do. All of this, it's so new to me. I just..." Clary sighed. "I'll do anything to save her." she finished.

"I get it, you love her." Izzy said. "More than anything." Clary replied. "What's your mom like?" I asked to try and lighten the mood.

"She's kind. Fun. The kinda person you always wanna be around. My friends used to always wanna hang out at our house just to hang out with her." Clary said.

We all chuckled. "She sounds more like a friend than a mom." Izzy said.

"She's both. She's basically sacrificed her life for me, and I'm willing to do the same for her." Clary said.

"Just because you can't have that necklace, doesn't mean you won't see her again." I said.

"Walk with us. Tell us everything about her." Izzy said, standing up and taking Clary's hand. I joined them as Clary talked about her mom.
