"I know where the Cup is." Clary said, rushing in. I did a double-take. "Come again?" I asked.
"The tarot cards. My mom, she must've painted them years ago but the Mortal Cup has to be hidden inside the Ace of Cups. The card looks exactly like it." Clary explained.
We all shared worried looks, me, Jace and Magnus. "Wait why aren't you guys happy about this? All we have to do is find... Dot." she said after a pause.
"If Dot had the cards when she was taken, we don't have much time." Jace said.
"If Valentine gets his hands on the Cup.." "We know!" Magnus said, cutting off Jace.
"If Valentine started creating Shadowhunters or gained control of demons, it'd be like Beyonce riding a dinosaur through Times Square; people would notice." Magnus said. Another great analogy by Magnus Bane.
"But he can control demons, I've seen it." Clary said. "Paying off a few demons is easy, especially since they rarely survive long enough to collect." Magnus said.
"Still waiting on Valentine's Thank You card." I said with a smug smile. "Opening the gates of hell, that's a little more tricky." Magnus said.
"Valentine doesn't have the cards." Luke said, walking in. "I do. They're in my desk back at the precinct. When Clary went missing I went to the loft and cleared everything out because I didn't want the Circle tracking her." Luke explained.
"That's great, this should be easy." I said. "That's what General Custer said." Magnus said.
"Magnus is right. Valentine has spies everywhere, even in the NYPD. We have to be discreet." Luke said.
"Discreet? You look like something out of the Mummy movie." Clary said.
"We'll go in the morning. Werewolf healing, remember? This is nothing a couple hours of beauty sleep can't fix." Luke said. "I'm all for that, I am so beat." I said.
"Ash. As much as I appreciate everything you've done, I think it'd be best if Jace and Clary and I went alone. You've got your family reputation to think about." Luke said. I was confused.
"Wait, how do you know who I am?" I asked. "I was good friends with your mother back then. Your mother and father take the Lightwood name seriously, you should too." Luke said.
"I take it seriously when it's just. But I think you're right about me staying behind. I'm tired anyway." I said, yawning at the last part.
"Ash why don't you get some sleep? Clary and I have this covered." Jace said. I nodded. Jace nodded his head to Magnus and Magnus took me out of the room.
He took me to the guest room. "Well doesn't this seem familiar." I said.
"Sky tonight?" Magnus asked. "I think tonight is just a plain ceiling kinda night." I said.
"All right then. Sweet dreams, Angel Dove." Magnus said. He left me alone and I went right to sleep.
I woke up to the sun shining in the room. Okay, no more fucking around. I need to get back to the Institute. I got out of bed and went into the apartment where I saw Magnus and... Alec. I thought Alec went home last night? What is he doing here?
They looked at me with a sense of tension. "Good morning, Ash. How was your sleep?" Magnus asked.
"It was fine, thanks. Alec, what is going on here? I thought you went home last night." I said.
"It's a long story. We should get back anyway, I'll meet you outside." Alec said.
Alec and I went back to the Institute and I saw we saw Izzy. "Slept at Magnus' place?" she asked the both of us.
