A couple of weeks went past and I hadnt seen Latrelle on the block. Part of me was worried something had happened to him but most of my time was spent with Jamal and the crew so my mind was distracted. 

The Spring Fling dance had finally come. 

Mama took me dress shopping and everything. 

After school I rushed home and got dressed and met everyone at Monse's for a beer before hand. 

Once I got to Monse's, Ruby and Cesar were already there waiting on Jamal.

Everyone looked so nice.

Jamal had finally arrived and he looked amazing. He had on all black with a red tie to match my dress and a pair of jordan 12s.

"Hey y'all.... Damn baby girl. You look beautiful in that red dress." Jamal said as he walked into Monse's. 

"Thank you babe. But you… You look sexy as fuck" I replied while looking him up and down. 

He walked up to me, wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed me.

"Ugh. Can y'all two kiss somewhere else" ruby said. 

"Hatin ass" Jamal replied.

We all laughed and then made a toast before drinking our beer before going to the party. 

Once we got to the dance, Ruby met with Jasmine and Monse and Cesar went to dance.

"I love this song" I replied as I started singing along. 

Jamal smiled as he watched me bug out over the song. 

After it was over he kissed my cheek. 

"You're beautiful babe" jamal said. 

I grabbed his hand and kissed him.

"Dance?" I asked. 

"Of course" he said.

We found Cesar and Monse and we all danced together. 

We had an amazing time.

After the party we went to Monses for a few more beers. 

"That was dope" Cesar said as we were drinking. 

"Yeah Jamal brought his A game to the dance floor" Ruby replied. 

We all laughed and kicked back. 

I don't know how we started talking about the prophets and santos beef but somehow we were.

"I think Spooky got Latrelle for what he did to you Tasha. So now you can finally be at peace walking home." Cesar said. 

"Got Latrelle. What do you mean?" I nervously asked. 

"You know babe. Pew pew." Jamal said trying to imitate the sound of a gun.

"That sounded more like a laser gun… But yeah. Spooky came home two days ago and told me Latrelle was taken care of. And to let you know" Cesar replied.

I felt sick to my stomach. The thought of Latrelle being killed made me want to cry.

"That's great news." Ruby excitedly said. 

"Yeah no offense. He had it coming. After what he did to you, Olivia, Ruby and Cesar, it was long overdue." Monse replied. 

"Honestly...I don't think taking someone's life can be justified by anything. Spooky just killed a young kid. I don't think that's fair" i said while trying to hold back my tears. 

Jamal looked at me almost confused. 

"You're right. But that's how things are handled here. I expected you to be a bit more happy" Jamal questioned. 

"No, yeah I'm glad we're all safe" i lied. 

For the rest of the evening all I kept thinking about was Latrelle. 

"Babe let me walk you home" Jamal said as we all left Monse's.

"It's alright babe. You're a block from home. I'll be fine now that Latrelles gone" I replied.

"Are you sure?" Jamal asked.

"Yeah I'll be fine. I'll see you tomorrow for our date?" I asked. 

"Of course. Message me when you get home please" Jamal said. 

We kissed and went our separate ways.
