Carmela's POV
It's been 1 week since we had been moved to the Hamptons estate, the house was amazing decorated much the same as Romeo's upstate New York home, except this one backed onto the beach. The soft golden sands were inviting to me and although private and secluded, I wasn't allowed to go out there, I wasn't allowed near the windows and I certainly wasn't allowed to help. I was a prisoner in this house. Others came and went as they pleased, well I say as they pleased but they only left to follow up leads or to eliminate a threat. I haven't seen Romeo properly in 6 days, he comes home and is always on the phone to someone, then goes to get a shower and change his clothes. Kisses me on the head and asked how I am. I rarely get to answer as his phone would ring or someone would want his attention and he leaves again. I sat in the comfortable wicker chair in my sweatpants and t-shirt, watching the waves crash rhythmically onto the beach as I twirl my engagement ring around on my finger absently. Remembering the day he proposed to me.
I was shocked to say the least at his words, how on earth could I say anything after that, I floundered searching my mind for a reply as tears streamed down my cheeks at the sincerity of his words. I looked deep into his eyes searching for answers, only to see honest, pleading eyes nervously waiting for a response. It felt like an eternity that I had been looking into his eyes but in reality, it was probably only seconds. "Yes, yes I will marry you." He instantly took me into his arms and kissed me hungrily, smiling between kisses and telling me that he's so happy that I accepted him and how much he loved me. I on the other hand still felt overwhelmed, only minutes ago I was yelling at him ready to fight him, hurt him even.
Cheers erupted all around us, shocking me and breaking our intimate moment, I didn't know we had such a big audience around us. He slid the ring onto my finger, a perfect fit. We kissed again, and I laughed at the cheers that were louder this time and a 'pop' sound echoed when the cheering died down. I looked at the ring on my finger and more tears fell. I was interrupted as I admired the ring by arms flinging around my neck. "OMG. I'm so happy for you both." Amy wailed into my ear. Next to embrace me was Melanie. "Congratulations. You deserve your happy ever after." Her voice was happy. "Looks like I'm going to have a little sister to annoy." Enzo joked and handed me a glass of champagne, we clinked our glasses together and downed it in one. I wrinkled my nose at its dry taste. "Yea, I agree not the best thing to knock back." We laughed, and Timo gave me a refill. "Welcome to the family Carmela." He said politely before kissing each of my cheeks. I was dying to ask him something so took the opportunity. "So what's going on with you and Amy?" Enzo let out a single 'ha' before clamping his mouth shut.
That was weird I thought, but then Enzo made a joke of everything. I looked back to a solemn Timo and I frowned not understanding his facial expression or Enzo's joke, what was going on. He took a deep breath finally replying. "I asked her out on a date, but she rejected me." He said with his hands in his pockets and looking at the floor. My jaw hit the floor, I was shocked. Amy, my best friend Amy, rejected a man. This was unheard of, I had to get to the bottom of it. "Amy, bathroom now." I shouted at her from across the room. She looked from me to Timo sheepishly for a second and then looked away, visibly preparing herself. She walked towards the three of us, accepting my invitation. I passed Enzo my champagne glass and walked off with her out into the hall and towards one of the many bathrooms within the estate.
"What's going on with you and Timo?" I asked as we ascended the stairs. "Nothing." She answered but her facial expression said there were more to tell. We walked into Romeo's room and I closed the door behind us. Sitting on the bed I waited expectantly for her to continue her story and tell me what went on. "Fine, I'm scared. Happy now?" She flailed her arms in the air before plonking herself down on the bed. "I like him a lot. I just don't want to fuck things up in my usual Amy style." By that she means she gets bored and moves on quickly. I smiled at her. "If you like him like you say you do. Then what makes you think you will get bored and move on?" I asked, as she flung herself backward on the bed exasperated. "I don't know, my track record." She kicked her feet like a tiny child and covered her eyes with her hands.
