Carmela's POV
I was awoken to a wave a nausea filling my body, I convulsed on the bed retching. Throwing myself off the bed I staggered to the bathroom and only just managed to make it there before violently vomiting. I sat down onto the cold bathroom tiled floor, letting it sooth me as I leant against the vanity. My face was clammy, and my hair was stuck to my forehead, but the feeling doesn't go away.
A small rap on the bathroom door and my name being whispered catches my attention as Romeo pokes his head around the door. "Are you okay?" I don't want him to see me this way, so I tried to close the door on him, to push him away, but I'm currently too weak to put that much effort in.
He cradled me on his lap while rubbing my back soothingly, I rested my head on his shoulder, not saying anything and making no reply to his question. We lay there until my stomach settles and I start to fall asleep. Noticing my eyes closing he lifts me up bridal style and carries me to bed, as soon as I feel the comfort of the pillow beneath my head, I'm pulled under into the darkness as sleep takes me.
Romeo's POV
After I put Carmela back into bed, I watched her sleep for a while. Her features aren't settled as she softly snores, but I brush my concerns to one side. Looking at the clock it shows that its 3.32am, I'll not get back to sleep now, my mind is racing with thoughts about the bounty. Has it stopped? Made obsolete by us marrying. Did my plan work?
I walk downstairs to the kitchen to make myself some coffee, then I'll go to the office and see if I can dig up any information from the underground. The house is silent as I stand at the patio doors drinking my coffee, the black waves lap lightly onto the sand again emphasising the calmness of the night. The wedding went perfectly yesterday, exactly how I wanted it to go for her. She deserves every happiness in the world, and I plan to give her anything she wants. I cant get the image of her out of my mind, when she got to the halter with me, her radiance exceeded her, she is my everything.
Groaning cut through my thoughts, as I turned around, I could see a shadowed figure moving from the sofa. I wasn't aware that anyone else was down here. As the figure falls to the floor I turn on the lamp, their arms fly up to shield their eyes. "Fuck, turn the light off." They whined. "Enzo, you look like shit. What happened to you?" his hair was a complete mess, sticking up in all directions. His shirt was half hanging out of his pants with most the buttons undone. His tie still tied in a knot around his neck but not at all in his collar and he only had one shoe on. "The fuck if I know." Was all he replied, I can imagine he was that drunk that he passed out down here, where he fell.
"What's up with you? Why are you out the marital bed already?" he asked as he stupidly wiggled his eyebrows at me, but his actions caused me to smirk. "Rose woke me up vomiting, so I thought I'd check for any information from the underground about the bounty." He nodded not really in the frame of mind to keep up with me. "What's going on with you and Mel?" I asked. "I like her. Dam, she has a tight little pu..." I cut him off, by pushing him backwards so he would land on the sofa. I really didn't need to know. He was still intoxicated and basically fell asleep straight away.
I left Enzo where he was and went to my office. As I opened the door, I flicked on the lamp to see Melanie half naked on my desk chair. What the fuck is happening tonight? I'm surrounded by drunken idiots. I throw a blanket over Mel's frame and nudge her shoulder lightly trying to wake her up. "Mel. Wake up." I repeated this a couple more times getting louder with each shake. She finally started to stir and threw her arms around my neck in a vice grip, while the blanket fell to the floor. "Your finally here, now get them pants off big boy." She planted a wet sloppy kiss on my cheek as I struggled to get out of her grip. "Mel. No it's Romeo. Enzo is downstairs." I tried to chock out as loud as I could. "Shh, no Romeo won't find out. Just like he doesn't know you had sex in his bed."
"Having fun?" A laughing voice sounded from behind me. I strained to see who it was, and was shocked to see Cammy leaning against the doorframe. I shoved Mel again finally getting her to release my neck. "It's not what it looks like." Was the first words out of my mouth. She laughed again. "I know, I was here." The relief that washed over me was immense, this could have been a whole lot worse to explain if she wasn't there. "Can you help me out here?" I motioned in Mel's direction, I was at a loss for what to do, Mel was half naked after all.
Cammy approached Mel after laughing at me some more, and wheeled her in my chair out of the office, presumably to her room. As I no longer can sit at my desk, I picked up my laptop and walked over to the sofa and turned it on. As it was loading, I felt hands slide over my shoulders and down my chest, I know instantly that it was Cammy and relaxed into her touch. "What are you doing up?" she questioned and placed a kiss on my neck. "Just seeing if I can dig up any info about the bounty and to see if our plan worked." She smiled against my neck. "Our plan, I seem to recall it being your plan, not ours." She giggled.
I nodded, yea I suppose it was just mine really. "Thank you though, the wedding was amazing." I pulled her around and picked up the laptop so she could take a seat on my lap. "Glad you enjoyed it." She cuddled to my chest as I opened the underground message boards. We read a few that showed are plan worked and people were questioning the bounty, because now Carmela is classed as part of a founding family the job is nil and void. Others say they don't give a fuck who she is or belongs too, 10 million is worth it, but the job listing has now disappeared. "I don't understand. I'm already part of a founding family." She asked confused. "Well, your grandfather never declared you on the family tree as still being alive. So there were no one to dispute his leadership position. Therefore, no one knew who you were. Until now."
"So that was the real point of us getting married yesterday then? To put me on your family tree." She said expectantly and raised an eyebrow at me. I twisted her to face me and cupped her cheeks in both my hands, I needed to look directly into her eyes as I said this, so she would have no doubt in my feelings for her. "No, I married you because you are my world, my everything, my rose and I love you." Her eyes glossed over and she bit her lip. "The non-important part of us marrying was to fulfil our fathers pact and legacy." She released her lip and opened her mouth to speak but then closed it again. "Tell me what your thinking." She shook her head and sighed. "Well I'll start by saying I love you too, and I need more information about this whole pact thing, I don't understand what you mean." I gently slid her off my lap while she held the laptop and walked over to my desk draw to retrieve the letter my father left for me. "This letter was meant to be given to me when I first took control, however I got it about 10 weeks back. Here, read it." She hesitantly took it from me and began reading. After reading it she folded the letter and slid it back in the envelope and placed both the laptop and letter aside. "Destined to be together." She said cheekily. "What if I didn't want you, what then Mr Giovanni?" I stalked forward as she took a step back. "Then you would have missed out on all this Mrs Giovanni." I gestured to myself. She shrugged feigning that she didn't care. I stalked forward again playfully. Her eyes immediately changed from playful to surprise and ran quickly from my office.
I found her once again vomiting in the bathroom, I couldn't ignore my concerns anymore. "Do we need to get the doctor?" she shook her head, before vomiting again. "No, I'm fine. It comes and goes." Comes and goes, I processed the words and just got more questions in reply to my own thoughts. "How long have you been feeling like this?" she stood to rinse out her mouth before reaching for her toothbrush. "A few weeks I think."
"A few weeks." I shouted in shock. She just looked at me in disbelief of my outburst. "Why didn't you tell me?" she rolled her eyes and finished up brushing her teeth. "It's not like we had a lot of time to talk Romeo, if you don't remember you push me away and basically ignored me on a daily basis." I was ashamed at her truthful words and looked at the floor. She sighed. "Look I know it's been a rough patch between us but were over that now. It's more than likely stress and over exhaustion, nothing to worry about." I made eye contact with her again. "Okay, only if you're sure." She nodded as she came to rest herself in my arms. "I'm sure."
