Carmela's POV
I walked downstairs to the sound of laughter, it filled the air and lightened my mood. I haven't heard laugher in so long it kind of felt weird. Which in itself is weird. Everyone was sat round the dining table eating and drinking, there were an empty seat next to Romeo. He turned at my approach and held his hand out for me and pulled me into his body, I couldn't help but smile as he held me and kiss the top of my head. I tried to sit on the empty chair, but he wouldn't let me, instead pulling me onto his lap but I didn't object I wanted to feel his presence around me. I reached for some pizza as the smell had become too much for me to resist. The taste was amazing, oh how I have missed you, I thought to myself with a smile. We had remained at the table long after we had all finished eating, conversation had continued and of course lots of banter.
We all looked a little shocked to hear the doorbell and the door immediately open. "Hey guys, what have I missed?" Melanie was stood at the door, gone was the little black maids outfit and it was replaced with dark blue denim shorts and a white t-shirt, her hair was up in a messy bun and her body language screamed confidence, I liked this new Mel instantly. "Hey Mel, come join us. Enzo was just about to tell us that he's an amazing fighter." Amy teased him. "I am good in a fight. I could beat any of you." He defended himself. As a group we all burst out laughing. "Tell them Cammy, aren't I good in a fight?" He said getting annoyed with us. "I remember seeing you getting your ass handed to ya." Timo joked. Enzo rolled his eyes at him and looked back to me. "Timo's not lying princess, you did learn not to fuck with me." "Whatever, I went easy on you." He snorted. "No. No you didn't Enzo, I have the bruises still to prove it."
Romeo leaned forward addressing the table. "Am I missing something? When did you two fight each other." Me and Enzo looked at each other, neither one of us knowing how he was going to take this information. "Well it was the morning of us all moving here. He thought he was funny scaring me in the gym. Until I kicked his ass and made him tap out." I said smirking at Enzo. Romeo turned his gaze to Enzo. "You-" Enzo cut him off instantly wanting to once again defend himself. "I know that sounds bad, but she started it and ended it." Enzo's voice sounded in a panic. Romeo continued to have a stern angry look on his face. "As I was saying. Your shit at fighting, you should just give up." The tension in the room instantly vanished and laugher erupted again. "Fuck off." Was all Enzo said as he slumped in his chair, arms folded over his chest sulking like a child.
"So Mel what brings you here?" I asked curious to know why she wasn't in her uniform as she approached the table and took a seat in the other empty chair at the side of Enzo. "I believe I can answer your question." Romeo jumped in. "Melanie is no longer our maid, she is one of my newest recruits and has spent the last week in intense training. She will be with you at all times, Amy too." The look of shock on my face as I looked back and forth between the three of them was clear. "What?" is all I could choke out.
"Carmela we are your new bodyguards." Amy said with happiness and excitement in her voice. "Really?" I said as I clutched onto Romeo's arm. He nodded. "I know you would need some people you trust at your side if u ever needed to go out, I'm just sorry that you had to be so alone this week while the girls prepared themselves, but they still need more training. That's where you come in. I promise I'll make more time to be here for you too. I can only apologise for being so distant from you." I threw my arms around his neck and kissed him. "Thank you."
"OMG, come on you have to show me what you girls can do." I said excitedly as I took both Amy's and Mel's hands across the table. Amy turned her attention to Enzo and cocked a gun pointing it at Enzo. "What the fuck?" He shouted shocked at her. She smirked at Enzo and tilted her head to the side. "Like this Cammy?" I furrowed my eyebrows at her not following her thoughts. "Is that my gun?" Enzo questioned jumping out of his chair and patted himself down searching for his gun. "Yes, it is Enzo. Would you like it back?" She laughed. "How. When did you get my gun?" he was confused as to when she took it from him. "Well princess, you're not very alert when your sulking like a child." He just looked at her dumbfounded. Melanie then placed a knife at his throat. Enzo didn't know what to do. "You also get distracted far too easily." She said in his ear, kissed him on his cheek and placed his personal switchblade in his open outstretched hand that held his gun.
"You girls are going to be quite the team." Timo said impressed with their display. I loved every moment of seeing my two friends become themselves deadly roses. I'll put them through their paces though soon enough and make them even better. Enzo had finally regained his composure and sat back down in his seat, but not recovered enough to speak.
"I've found it." Timo shouted, surprising us all. "Found what?" Amy asked. "The CCTV footage from the gym as Enzo got his ass kicked." He stood and walked into the living room and we all followed quickly behind him, even Enzo. Timo turned on the TV and pinged the video onto its screen to made the picture bigger for us all to see and pressed play as we all got comfy.
I watched as Enzo made me jump and me throw the first punch. "See she started it." Enzo sulked from the armchair. "Shut up." We collectively said back at him. The taunting was embarrassing and some of my moves were sloppy and not co-ordinated which I didn't like, I mentally scolded myself for them. Everyone could all see that me and Enzo were both getting tired and knew that the fight was drawing to an end. "Ooohh." Amy said as Enzo's back hit the floor. "Amazing." Romeo whispered into my ear. "I hate you all." Was Enzo's response as he stormed out on screen and in person at the same time.
Everyone continued to laugh and joke as they ate and drank. I was getting a little overwhelmed by everyone still being here and the new information about Amy and Mel, I went out onto the patio for some fresh air. "Hey, you okay?" Romeo asked as he joined me after a while. "Yea, I'm fine. Just needed some air." He wrapped his arms around me from behind and rested his head on my shoulder, placing a small kiss on my collar bone. I ran my fingertips over the stubble on his jaw and we watched the waves together. It was peaceful. "I watched you today." Romeo admitted. "Watched me?" I questioned. "In town, as you were attacked." He turned me round slowly in his arms, so I was facing him. "Thanks for the back up." I smirked at him. "You my deadly rose were amazing and clearly didn't need my assistance. It's hard for me to see you in danger like that, Timo had to literally pin me to my seat or else I would have helped you. He knew you could handle them. I knew it too, but it was hard to just sit and watch." I truly smiled at him. "I knew you were there. I saw you both in the car between the bakery and electrical repair shop." He furrowed his eyebrows questionably. "I'm an assassin, it's my business to know everything about my surroundings." He laughed at my comment. "Should have known."
His dark brown eyes filled with so much admiration and love that there were no more words. Our lips met in a frenzy, our kisses were deep and wanting. Igniting so much passion between us, that we couldn't control ourselves anymore. He picked me up and sat me on the handrail of the patio, my legs instantly wrapped around him holding him close to my body, I could feel him hard against me, which drove me insane. "Erm, guys. You might want to take yourselves elsewhere." Amy said holding the door open but not looking at us. "Oh come on Amy. It was just getting interesting." Enzo was heard saying as she shut the door again. "Your such a perv Enzo." She retorted.
"Walk with me." Romeo said as he pulled me down from the railing and escorted me down the stairs and onto the sand. It was cold and a little wet under my bare feet as we walked. "So, erm." I foundered to make conversation. Talking wasn't exactly what I wanted right now, but for a second time today we were interrupted. "Have you been able to track who called you that morning." I said nervously playing with the sleeves of my jumper. "Yes, we couldn't confirm if he was one of your grandfather's men. Robert, I think his name was." I shook my head not knowing who that was. "We found him yesterday. He didn't know anything." His wicked smirk told me that this man was no longer breathing. "Do we know where my grandfather is?" That question made him angry. "No, we were close to getting him the other day, but he evaded us somehow." His anger flared as he admitted this to me. "He has a summer house in Canada." I offered. "He could be hiding there if he had a near capture here to lay low for a bit." The shock in his eye surprised me but what surprised me more was his action. He full on sprinted back to the house, it took me a few seconds to overcome my surprise and run after him.
